I bought a 2020 Ford F-350 Superduty to have a reliable tow rig, and it breaks down in the middle of a 20 hour trip, with my trailer, and race car, and all my belongings stranded. Ford wouldn't do anything to help us get home, store the trailer, etc. so we had to find another way.

Thank you all for the support. As I said before. Please refrain from leaving bad google reviews. The situation sucked. But the rest is done and dusted nothing can be done to change it. Now it’s just a matter of if ford honors the warranty on a part that’s known to fail… overall, It’s a lesson learned. I won’t make this mistake again of new car warranty nonsense. Regardless of how it all shakes out. I think it’s time to go back to the basics with a truck I can fix myself. Being a car guy and relying on warranty is a waste of time. It’s like having your hands tied behind your back. Also Chris’s Instagram is @chrisgrunst if you wanna give him a follow for being a legend! Update: I got a call from the president of the dealership. He apologized very genuinely while taking fault for the situation. He actually watched the video instead of just responding out of anger. This could have gone a lot of other ways. But the way he approached it I respect. He’s a genuinely nice guy. And he’s really gone way above and beyond to make things right without me asking. Update #2 it seems like it is covered and may be done as early as this weekend! So that’s good news atleast. I was worried it would be some backordered parts and take forever.

I was a service manager for over 20 years. It would have meant nothing to me to find a spot for your trailer and get right on your truck. I had a priority list and broken down travelers were at the top. I even had a crew who could sympathize with the customers also. There was always a mechanic willing to stay late if the solution was near. Your experience, had it been at my shop, would have been positive for both of us and you'd look back at it fondly.

Several years ago I was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). I live in Carson City, NV. We headed off to MD Anderson cancer center in Houston in our 2016 F-350 6.7, towing our 30' travel trailer. I started getting check engine lights as we were going across NM. I ended up finding Gurley Ford in Gallup, NM. It was the first Saturday they were open since the COVID debacle. Anyway, I pleaded my leukemia dilemma and told them about my CEL (which I had diagnosed with my Banks iDash gauge). They took me in, let me drop my trailer down the street in one of their car lots, and immediately started working on my truck. They did a manual regen and updated the computer software on the truck. All this took about two hours. It cost me just over $100 - I was shocked. That's the same as "free" when it comes to diesel repairs. I was SO pleased with that dealership! I managed to get to Houston in time to get the proper treatment so I'm here to tell about my experience. There ARE good dealers out there!

I worked in service for 21 years. Anytime we had somebody traveling through the area that came in with a breakdown, understanding the situation the customer is in, I automatically gave them top priority. That might mean going above and beyond what we would offer to the normal customer dropping off a car for service. Like allowing a trailer to be parked in our storage lot temporarily. They were likely worried about liability for your property, but it's simple enough to make a note on the paperwork about the storage and that the dealer isn't liable. That dealer staff was terrible at showing any empathy. The disclaimer about diagnosis cost if the repair is found to not be covered under warranty is just to cover the dealership's exposure though. It doesn't mean that they are trying to deny warranty coverage. Sometimes cars are dropped off with repairs assumed to be under warranty. Then after hours of diagnosis it's found that it isn't. Like an electrical problem on a brand new car that anyone would assume is covered, is found out to be due to rodent damage. It happens. The dealership can't bill warranty for that shop time and the dealership does have employee and facilities cost regardless. Myself and all writers I've worked with were always happy to give the good news to a customer that their repairs would be covered under warranty. Yes we do get reimbursed less than customer rate from warranty, but it's headache free and everybody is happy.

They don't care they know all the dope will be lining up to buy some over priced Lighting, or that broken down Bronco, or that POS Maverick. See when you have brain dead customers it easy to fool them again and again. Time to switch to a real truck eight Toyota or Honda, and before you tell me it will not tow a small country. Time to leave all that stuff at home or get a real tucking company to move it for you. Sure less expensive in the long run then to buy a Ford, Gm or Dodge anything.

He’s screwed both ways since the warranty makes him unable to get the part and fix it himself, taking away the only benefit warranty provides! Dealerships are great when well-managed, but comparable to the worst insurance company when poorly managed. That trailer comment proves the service manager either is a) a 5h1+ human being with no compassion or b) has never taken a road trip with so much in one trailer and the stress that multiplies on a situation…or both.

Had the same experience with my F450 6.7 diesel. Bought it with relatively few miles and after a couple of years things just started to break; one thing after another. Always took it to the dealer for service and they were very helpful; but they were mystified regarding the one-thing-after-another failures - all having to do with the engine, by the way - fuel system was the main culprit. Constantly throwing codes. So relieved that I got rid of it. Never again.

This is the first time I watched your videos, and the headline caught my attention. Over 20 years ago, traveling to Alabama from Arizona, I had fuel injector pump troubles on a dual-wheel chevy. I was pulling a heavy 37' foot fifth wheel back home from a 3-year stay in AZ. On I10 in AZ while pulling a grade in Texas Canyon, I lost most of my power. I was able to limp into El Paso and get into a campground. I had fewer options than you. I spoke with a recently retired colleague back in Alabama and within 24 hours from Clanton AL he showed up in El Paso with Dodge Cummings and pulled me and my trailer home. I had managed to get the truck to an El Paso dealer and they gave me a ride back to the campground. I noticed you have an updated video, so I will get to see the end of the story. I had issues with the warranty on recently replaced fuel injector pumps with my truck. The bow-tie boys would not cover anything.

And a back-up plan for someone to rescue you and your rig... Make sure there are a few extra trailers as well... Human power,,, Truck power,,, trailer power and get hold of storage and wrecking yards in a few spots along your route... Your race car comrades will fill you in on who you can count on... If you fail too plan your plan will fail... Your lucky it panned out as well as it did... Good thing that this didn't happen to you half way into Alaska. You would of been looking at a $10 too $15.000 price tag if not more once all the bills get paided the next following year. That's correct, your truck would be stranded up there for months on end before getting it hualed South if it needed major repairs... I road raced for over 20 years and the tow vehicle was always the best vehicle in the driveway. We had several breakdowns over the years and I was always amazed at how people came to you in the time. I do recall the time we were at Roebling Road and needed a water pump in the 'Burb. I had so many mechanics standing in line to help but no parts stores had the water pump for a 454???? We had to stay overnight and get a tow to the dealer. At least the track let me leave the trailer at the track. Another time we blew the intake gasket and stopped in Metter GA where a dealership was 300 yards off the interstate. One of the techs even ran home to get a part that wasnt in the store and we were on the road in just a few hours. I sent the guy a gift card for a very good restaurant in Gatlinburg because that was his vacation spot. There are good people out there but the bad ones usually are remembered. I almost didnt make LS Fest several years ago because my tow vehicle didnt make it out of the shop; its first replacement broke while I was driving it home after borrowing it from a racing buddy. Finally a client took a truck out of his fleet and sent the crew home early so I could have it for the weekend. Luckily I never broke down in La.

The insurance company and the dealership are two complete and different companies. Dealers offer this type of insurance to costumers as an option. Dealerships don't provide the relief from these policies , the insurance company does. The dealer only covers their warranty , which is the manufactures warranty and doesn't apply to trade in vehicles that are purchased used. I bought a car from a dealership and they offered a warranty for a price. I asked to see the policy terms and after reading them, I said no thanks. Skip the warranty folks.

That is absolute truth.......... But the fact is the dealer will use ANYTHING he can find to squirm out of giving anyone free repairs no matter who is backing the warranty. @@crazyoilfieldmechanic3195 of course dealerships don't want to give anyone free repairs. They're businesses, not charities and the people wirking there are employees, not volunteers. But warrenty isn't free work. If it's a manufacturer's warrenty the work is paid for by the manufacturer. If it's extended warreny the work is paid fir by the warrenty company. Extended warrenties are pretty easy to work with. You diagnose the problem, explain what's wrong and give them a quote for the repair. They either approve the job or they don't. Manufacturer warrenty is different. They demand more documentation only to pay less than the job is worth, the payout often being dependant on appoval after the the job is done. No one wants to do more work for less pay or no pay at all so they will naturally be extra vigilant when it comes to manufacturer warrenty claims.
