Idk why, but the lyrics “I still remember the first fall of snow and how I glistened as it fell, I remember it all too well” really gets me and no one has really spoken about it. For me, it’s like no matter how heartbroken and sad you are, life goes on and it sucks seeing something so beautiful when you’re in such a bad place, but that’s he reality of life.

This line gets me so much as well. I get full on chills and feel the tears welling up there. You can just picture that whole scene so vividly. It’s such a beautiful visual lyric. It also reminds me of one of my favourite Taylor songs You Are In Love where she says you two are dancing in a snow globe round and round. I find that lyric just as visual.

She said on Fallon that she kind of spontaneously sang this during an impromptu jam session during rehearsals for the speak now tour. That totally blows my mind. How can people say she is not talented?! She created a masterpiece, this song does not feel like it's 10 minutes long, there is no part that gets boring and the lyrics are perfection. I'm sure you'll also relate to this part of the short film Jake Gyllenhaal, DIED DEAD UH HUH. People don't realise how fragile anyone is at the age of 19/20/21, I'd go as far as to say that we're the most fragile at this age as a collective. Anyone that we're with during these years leaves a very permanent impression in our lives be it wonderful or scarring. I'm close to being 23 now but no matter what I do now I'll always be carefully catching the red flags that I ignored at this age, then again Taylor's lived a lifetime since. I'm so glad that this exists, that this talks to people slightly younger in age who don't know anything about themselves yet and questioning whether they're acting crazy or acting a lil too extra. This made me cry but also so proud of where she and I both of us have come in our respective journey's since. ❤️ Love how expressive you are emotionally :')
@RobertHeslop
@RobertHeslop 3 жыл бұрын
People can be fragile at any age. I started to get mental health at 11, I'm 30 now and I still have moments where I'm fragile and the smallest things can trigger me, like if someone looks at me and I don't know who that person it etc.
@jojojo89517
@jojojo89517 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly. And this is why I feel icky about people lambasting Jake online. Taylor Swift was emotionally immature at that age . And that's not a bad thing. It's completely normal behaviour for people that age. And then you grow out of it, which Taylor obviously did as evident in her songwriting since Red. But its not Jake's responsibility to hold her hand through it all. He was 30 and at a different stage in life. The whole thing was doomed from the start.

One more thing about the line "They say all's well that ends well but I'm in a new hell every time you double-cross my mind" - the phrase would normally be "every time you cross my mind", but the added touch of changing it to "double-cross" is just another way for her to show how betrayed she feels by this relationship and breakup.

This version of All Too Well gave us the closure the original version did not serve. I'd like to think of this as a culmination of sadness during that phase/era coming to an end. I'll think of All Too Well (both versions) as a journey that Taylor and those who have the same experience overcame... moved on. It may be bittersweet that you all have to go through that time of your lives but look at you now all bright and brandnew. I won't listen to All Too Well and think "damn, this girl is hurt." Instead, I will think of the growth Taylor has. From this song being a heartbreak song from a broken masterpiece to an anthem for the whole fandom... a holy ground, if you may. May we all remember the hardships and heartbreaks all too well but never let those define our future self♥️

There's such a BIG difference between the 2012 version ending with "It was rare, I was there, I remember it all too well" and 10 MV singing near the end "just between us, I remember it all too well". They're the same lyrics. The exact same words. But it feels... healed.

Also in regards to: " you said if we would have been closer in age maybe it would have been fine". It really hit me because i can feel in the song that this person that she is singing about had no problem with her age when it benefited them (having sex, etc.) but when it came to solving relashionship problems or making a relashionship work they didnt want to deal with it. Really shows the type of power dynamics in a relashionship with such an age difference especially when one partner is still in their late teens and early twenties.

When this song first came out in 2012, I was going through the worst breakup of my life. The love of my life cheated on me and left me for someone else like I was nothing. I remember this song got me through it. It really did. To know that THIS is what the song was supposed to be from the beginning had me crying like we just broke up the night it came out.... You just made me cry again, Steven. Hearing you hear the words that broke me all over again made me cry. Ugly cry. The one thing that makes this song special is that all swifties feel the same way to this song. It's like we've all been through the same thing & Taylor is the one who is helping heal us with her words, music, vocals, emotion, everything. This song means so much to me and more. Red should've gotten a grammy and I pray to God that she finally receives it this time around if she allows it to be. Love you, Taylor. Forever. Thank you for everything.

Unpopular opinion time: You said that you never realised that the old version was lacking the punch back that this one has, and that the old one felt more hopeful. You're so right! But the thing is that I was supremely underwhelmed by the old one and could never realise why people were so crazy about it because it just felt ... like it missed something? And then the 10 minute version came and I spent a whole weekend in a trance not being able to turn it off. So BIG YES to this one being the superior version

I get what you were trying to say Steven. Now that the full version is here, the first version makes you think of a movie soundtrack that plays in bits and pieces throughout the movie. In contrast, this full version is like hearing that track in its entirety when the protagonist finally lets go and finds the right person to be with and then the credits start rolling. Like, My Heart Will Go On in Titanic, for example.

YESSS i‘ve been saying that about the last time Taylor is so quite, Gary‘s vocals were kinda fuzzy(?), the endings of the lines were cut short, the drum was too noticeable in the first verse :((

Listen I just need to say this somewhere and I feel your video is the perfect one lol but I’ve read comments from people saying they like this wasn’t the actual 10 minute version, they she just wrote this and put it out like it was. But I want to tell people that there is one line in the song that really makes me feel like it was the 10 minute version. She said she still remembered the first fall of snow and me being me went crazy and searched forever trying to find when it first snowed in Nashville around her birthday. And let me tell you guys the first snow fall was the day before Taylor’s birthday. The day that a lot of articles said Jake was originally supposed to fly into Nashville for her birthday. To some this might mean nothing lol but to me it is everything and actually makes me sad lol

this is literally the most beautiful song i've ever heard, and it hurts so good. when all too well first came out i was literally 11, so i never had any attatchment to it but im 19 now and god do i have such a personal attatchment to it now. In May, i finally got out of a 4 year old "not relationship" were i was secret the whole time and used and hurt and we were never really ever dating but I was young when we met so i didnt know any better. the way she expresses how seeing things that vaguely remind you of them is so accurate because its so bitter feeling. i hurt for young taylor and young me when i listen to this song and its so beautifully painful. im in happy relationship now, i did end up blocking the guy on everything and ive since moved so he doesnt know where i am anymore but he ruined so much for me, i even relate to the whole birthday thing and him being a bit older (nothing concidered illegal, though it probably should emotionally fit in that category). i long for the day ill be able to let go of the whole thing. a painful learning experience for me and this song just hits a wound that hasnt healed yet

Man, the rearranging and deep cleaning from depression is TOO RELATABLE. I have literally been redecorating my apartment, due to depression. I'm designing a whole gallery wall, shadow boxed some stuff to use as decor, bought a bunch of plants, put up some window film (frosting it for privacy). Yeahhhhh. I totally get it, dude.

Honestly, I'd love a reaction to the whole album, because I think it's so much better and her voice is incredible (a lot of songs were improved IMO), but I completely understand if that would make you feel overworked and mental health comes first. I just remember listening to Red with you the first time (all sped up and seeing you cry to my favourite song "The Moment I Knew" I think you'll have an amazing experience seeing the tiny changes in the songs and the album as a whole. As some who also suffers from anxiety and depression listening to this album with my headphones on, singing in the dark felt so cathartic and I hope you feel that way too, whether it's with us or on your own if that's how you want to experience it. I (and everyone else here) just wants you to know we care about you first and want you to listen to the music how you want to, but I'm so glad we are definitely getting the Short Film reaction, because I already know you're going to be amazed. I hope you're feeling a little bit better. :)

That fade out hits me so hard every time. I left an extremely emotionally abusive relationship a few months ago where he would constantly gaslight me over any and everything that would upset me. And honestly just over anything in general. To the point I was genuinely questioning my own sanity at the end. Honestly things got so bad that I was too anxious and stressed out all the time to eat, and I ended up losing an alarming amount of weight and was almost hospitalized for it because my organs were on the verge of shutting down. But my ex would act like he was doing nothing wrong (until he needed to throw a pity part of false guilt to get me to feel bad for him and forgive him, yet again. Also, cue “I’m a soldier who’s returning half her weight”). To me, that fade out sounds like she’s almost trying to convince herself that she didn’t make any of it up. It really did happen, those things really happened to her. She didn’t imagine the pain and anguish that led to this song. She was there. She remembers everything. And so does he, even if he pretends otherwise. He knows what he put her through. It’s heartbreaking for me. Hits way too close to home 💔

This is the most beautiful and most depressing song ever. The music video.. it’s just feeling all the feelings of, “love” and building the lyrics until your heart swells reminiscing on a love you either have had or never had… almost as if you’re longing to love this way. Even if it’s a tragic ending. Fucking beautiful. Just phenomenal.
