I also suffer from migraines which have made me throw up at times. My doctor prescribed Imitrex for me (years ago) and that changed my life! I think there are better meds now for migraines, but the Imitrex still works for me. Migraine is usually gone within 30 minutes.

My husband used to get migraines that would cause vomiting - a big culprit was MSG (monosodium glutamate) which is in many prepared foods including crackers, some kethchups, prepared soups, all kinds of hidden places. Check very label of everything you eat and maybe eliminating MSG from your diet will help. He used to go teach school with a migraine :(

Sorry to hear about your migraine! As someone who suffers from them too, you might want to look into migraine medications that should give you relief. The one I use dissolves in your mouth and works in like 30 minutes...it's a god send! You're a trooper for continuing to hike!!

Does your doc give you them regular or do you have to request them when you have a a migraine? My doc won't give me one unless I've got a migraine and it's so hard to order one when you can barely string a sentence together 🤣

Audey Murphy was one of my fav actors when I was a kid. He was just so handsome and always played the nice guy. He was also a famous soldier but I didn’t realize he died off the AT. He died pretty young. You can find his old movies on you tube. Good for you hiking 21 miles after a sleepless night of a migraine. You are a trooper and an inspiration to push through difficult things while taking care of yourself at the same time

@doredootz5088 Жыл бұрын
There is no “if” about it. Taylor did wake up with a “headache” as you mildly put it. IF one reads (the title), listens (to the audio) and watches (the images) one understands that this “princess” is indeed her own “champ” and Taylor can indeed hike her own hike.

I get serious migraines as well occasionally, especially when out backpacking (my last backpacking trip on last summer on the Long Trail I had two in one day: one when was getting up in the morning and one that night). So I feel your pain. But to get going after one and knock out 21 miles, that pretty awesome! Keep on killing it and hopefully the bad migraines will be few and far in between!

Whenever I read about Audie Murphy I always think he was both brave and lucky, as there were many soldiers we never heard about because at some point they didn't make it while fighting somewhere and never got recognized for their cumulative actions.

When I was your age I would become so nauseous from migraines that I would vomit until I passed out and then wake up to an incredible migraine. Eventually that went away and I would have the occasional ocular migraines with a little spaciness but not much pain. I hope your migraines subside as time passes. You recovered quickly from this one and covered a bunch of miles. So cool.

Fun being on your trip with you …. Still waiting where I live for the snow to melt before I can get backpacking so it’s fun to see someone out enjoying nature and a good trek !!!! All the best !!!!🎉

Hey do you ever try and figure out what caused your migraines? I have terrible ones close to strokes that can last upto five day 😅 But whenever I do, I see what I had to eat or smelt something new :) if you get them on the trails alot, could be smelling a certain herb or one of your neighbors foods at camp :)

its rare but sometimes people get a stroke coinciding with a migraine. i ususally get migrans when i eat too much salty foods. also, if its summer and im in heat for a prolonged period and i move to a colder area i will get headaches. also , if im dehydrated it think it makes it worse
@davem4193 Жыл бұрын
I feel your pain Taylor. I have been a chronic migraine sufferer for years. 8 years ago I switched to a keto diet and it helped my migraines significantly. A little over a year ago I switched to the carnivore diet (zero carb) and have not had a migraine since! Sugar and carbohydrates appear to have a significant impact on migraines (it did with me anyway). As an added bonus my hiking performance improved significantly when I went to the carnivore diet. I can hike all day without eating anything and still feel great, it's amazing how much better you feel without sugar and carbs.
