Playing HIDE AND SEEK in Battlefield 5... *VISIBILITY EXPERIMENT*

Here is some additional information about this *Hide and Seek* EXPERIMENT... Because visibility is somewhat of a subjective topic, we decided to test it out in the most authentic way: - One player (seeker) looks out on a specific area (preferably with a lot of textures and rubble) - the other player chooses a spot within that area to hide/blend in with the enviroment. This player cannot move. This player must have his (Bipoded) machinegun aimed at the seeker at all times to show the fact that he can kill him instantly at any time - both players MUST be in direct line of sight of eachother. This rules out hiding behind objects so there is an emphasis on visibilty itself. - the seeker has 5-10 shots to find and kill the other player before the hider can kill the seeker and reveal his location *You (the viewers) can play along with this video. Try to find BFViking before I do.* This video is not fake or staged. We really tried our best to find the player who hides. We also switched places to show there is no bias or a 'faulty' monitor on either side. Imo prone, stationary machinegunners are extremely hard to detect in certain spots. making them very hard to counter. You could argue that it is more realistic but is it preferable when looking from a gameplay point of view? I want you to tell me down below after watching the video. (Keep in mind that I am actively looking for the other player. In a real scenario you would simply run by.. which doesn't give you the oppertunity to really scan the enviroment like we did in this video. Also if you did, you would get killed INSTANTLY by the bipod machinegun)

I saw him immediately in Rotterdam in the first location because his green little cap was standing out a lot. Of course, this is just a video. And even if I played it in a full screen, it wouldn't be the same as it is in the game itself. So I can't really tell for sure how I compare with you But I definitely agree that it's an extremely big problem. I mean Even in battlefield 1 there were some spots in which it was hard to spot enemies. Usually on night maps in dark corners or stuff. But this was absolute garbage, a whole new level of invisible. I mean, I remember it even from Beta. Although no one was proning so much, no one realized that the visibility was garbage, but even then it was horrible.

But for the majority you either become the shade of grey or die to the shade of grey. It also slows down the gameplay when you can't confidently move from point a to point b because you cant trust your eyes.

@Adeptus Astartes the game isn't all pushing objectives dumbass. There's a thing called defense. And you defend things with an mg42. Things like breakthrough. You need a couple of mmg's defending the objectives laying down heavy fire toward the attackers. The assaults and snipers can cover the flanks. On rush (rip best game mode) I would set up my mg42 in the corners and completely destroy. Until someone got smart and threw a grenade on me. Other times I'd get sniped. I die more as an mmg'er than any other class. But I get way more kills. And I'm helping the team by defending. And also laying down cover fire when we attack.

Personally I like the way the visibility is (apart from that renderless bush). It makes it harder to spot and forces you to be more attentive. But best of all it means the camouflage works. It gives you a chance to hide when you are completely outnumbered. I can't tell you how many times I am like capping a point and then there are millions of the enemies in there and all I do is sit still and wait. I like it this way because it gives me a chance to survive even the most improbable scenarios.

Visibility in these games should be difficult to spot soldiers if they are laying down, covering 80% of their body, etc. This means the player is playing intelligently, and using his surroundings to his advantage. I hate games where player models stick out liek a sore thumb anywhere and everywhere. It turns the game into a COD shoot out herpa derp game with no tactics, strategies, or higher level of gameplay than just twitch shoot the first thing that moves. I know alot of players think the only skill in a game is accuracy, and the vast majority it seems of players start to get pretty upset very very quickly when they start getting killed by people who are able to use the surrounding area's effectively and claim they are unskilled 1v1 bro.. I've seen many games get nerfed, mechanics changed to push a game into the brain dead herpa derp shooter to appease these morons because the only skill they do have is point and click with no thought process involved.

I think from a realism stand point its fantastic that you can't see people that easily because I mean that's how it is in real life people aren't gonna just make themselves obvious to you. Well we all want the newest games with the best, most realistic graphics... when graphics get more complex, there are more textures and models in the terrain, so of course you will merge with the environment better than in older games - I don't think that this is a typical BFV problem, we will have to face that in all future games, unless you want the players to be enhanced in some pink sparkle glitter unicorn shit. Of course visibility was better in BF1942, where there was literally no single bush or anything, so why don't we all go play that then? Because we want the better graphics.... And everyone is acting like this is a huge definite death problem, but come on, just don't act stupid, play clever, don't stand still, don't go prone, scan your surroundings, avoid open areas, use smoke (the typical stuff, you should pay attention to in every shooter). When some mg42 camper starts shooting at you, you immediately get his position and most of the time you got enough time to jump to cover or headshot him. And if he should manage to get you...so what? The next sniper will surely headshot him shortly after - those mg guys ain't got an easy life too. They can't hit shit when running around and are easy targets when prone, so they have got their pros and cons, just like every other class has them. And finally I think this adds a huge amount of realism and fun playing the game. You don't just shoot blindly at some big red squares marking enemy players, you actually locate your targets! Gaming experience is a lot more intense, when you have to listen to footsteps and carefully check the area without help from some minimap. For me it really delivers that imersive "war chaos" feeling better than any BF before. You just get a perfect taste of how your virtual soldier feels, the panic when a mg42 starts to shoot, the unsureness if your move was clever, getting traped by a sniper and desperately trying to locate his position... And it's reassuring to know that when you get wounded and only 1 HP left, you yourself can find cover to hide and heal, without your whole body glowing and every enemy aiming blindly beneath the fucking red square over your head... And btw that bush visibility "bug" isn't really a BFV exclusive bug, but actually quite normal, as vegetation always gets simplified for performance, when far away. So if you think you can just chill out in some big bush and have a nice time laying around, it's your own fault, when you get killed by a sniper from far away. Just my point of view on that topic... not regarding all those other fails Dice and EA are coming up with in BFV, I have fun playing it with that visibility system and for me it feels balanced and fair, with all the handycaps every class is fitted with.

I think the issue is that we are so used to just spotting players with stuff like enemy spotting from bf1 and nigh vision or thermal in bf4 that we expect to spot players with ease, realistically in a battle you wouldn't actually see the enemy unless they shot alot from their position and gave it away

We'll the scout class is now a lot more viable instead of just long range combat. I use the spotting scope a lot now in BFV. A lot of times i'm going back to a spotted player because i can't believe that it is actually a player and not a busk or rock.

Honestly i like the visibility in the game rn. Its fun bc camos are actually effective also ghillie suits and its pretty realistic visibility. Yeah those occasional mg users that sit in grass hiding then spraying u down without a second to react gets really annoying but it jump scares me making if fun asf cause u dont know where the enemies could be

I think hiding is fair play. It's realistic. The difference in camo is very interesting. Battlefield is strategic. If someone is trying to defend a position, I have no problem with them hiding with an MG. I'll try and attack with lots of smoke & flares!

This is how the game is designed and what makes it different from others. It's designed for teamwork. When playing together makes it fun.

There's this thing called camouflage. That's the point. Battlefield 5, Squad, and Arma 3 are the only games I know that get player visibility right. Being able to hide in plain sight because your outfit blends in with the surroundings is exactly how it should be.

Add weapon glints when moving or some crap. Or if someone is sprinting around they will breathe heavily or if you are an MG running around with 200+ rounds you should clink a little bit.
