Yes, that's an excellent way to show off a build to cover the energy firing modes. I feel you're hoping this will stop the constant questions. But it still leaves one particular area open though, which I think there's a solution to completely eliminate those; and that's with Bridge Officer seating abilities. I think you could actually create a genuinely generic video to cover 'all' ships! I imagine the format for this section being similar to the way you handled the difference between weapon types and consoles in the above video. This would show the layout with a Commander and Lt. Com Tactical, (possible Lieutenant!?!) with reference of which abilities to drop if the seating were more restrictive. And it would do the same with Science, Engineering, etc. If that makes sense. It clearly doesn't need to cover every seating layout for every Specialisation, but when miracle worker, for example, does nothing for Unconventional Systems, and Pilot's limited, these would have a dramatically reduced section over Intelligence and Temporal. Sure, you'd have to take some liberties with how this information is expressed as you're not literally covering every single seating layout. So between that and this video you would literally cover pretty much every ship for energy firing mode builds! This would give the knowledge and understanding an experienced player has on adapting a ship with any bridge layout to all players.

with regards to video format, for players like me, this is pretty much perfect. For lack of a better term, this sort of spoon feeding is quite nice. This is the type of info vid that I bookmark for repeated reference. The only thing that I think could be an improvement would be a link to some sort of written version of the vital info, but I completely understand if that might not be worth the effort. well done, dude.

I think you did a great job with this video. Having you go through the equipment, weaps, traits and doffs in the methodical way you did reminded me of Augie's videos that I used to watch when I started playing. It was quite comprehensive and just the right level of assumption for a player like me who's been at it for a few years, but you might have missed one or two mentions for where certain consoles or traits are obtained. I mean, *I* know where they come from, but a less veteran player might not. It's a nitpick tho. I'm sure it's a lot of work to put something like this together, so choosing opportunistically might be a good idea!

When you go over your consoles, it would be a good idea to put a typed out list of what you have on the left side of the screen as you discuss them. For some people, it might be hard to hear or read the console names that appear in the tool tips.

1). Love the format. Was cool to see what decisions were made across each build type. 2). Amazing how much a 5/3 setup really makes a difference in practical use. Coming off a 4/4 FAW ETM build, a lot of stuff in these runs just looked a cakewalk by comparison 3). The only criticism I’d have is the use of supported runs in ISE. I know that the point of the video was to show sort of a meta setup, but 90% of players chasing this build hereafter won’t be running with pre-built, DPS focused teams. Consequently, in PUGs and other more “normal” playing environments, people aren’t going to achieve over a million DPS with it. I’d bet on that. I think you’re setting people up for some level of disappointment on it in that respect. I’d probably run a few PUG ISEs and pick the best result, rather than use your DPS buddies with tanks and other supports to set the numbers.

These types of runs happen often in the DPS-Channels. If you see a call go out for ISE there's almost always a tank and very often a nanny. But yes for randoms you need survivability. You can still get well above 1 mil however.

@@99Cheops99 sure, but *most* people seeing this video and building that ship aren't DPS people. They're seeing how to kit out a free event ship. And when they get it sort of there, they might expect they'll drop into a PUG random and do over a million DPS. When they do like 250k or something, I think they'll be wondering where it went wrong. The record runs for these things are always supported heavily. That's fine, I just think that in the future, he'd be better served delivering data from real-world environments for most players. IE, random teams.

I like the new format, the comprehensive breakdown makes it a lot easier to follow along, and the explanation for things like DOff choices is a great idea, as it shows that DOff 'X' with proc 'Y' (which looks great on paper) might not be the best for whatever reason. The CSV build looks like a proper beast, and is something I'll be building towards on my Uncon-traited character. My only suggestion would be something I like from the STO-Better guide builds - alternatives if you don't have the meta console/trait. For example, I don't have Terran Goodbye or Universal Designs (UD seems like a key part of the build for the stacking CrtH/CrtD from Uni consoles kept active by Uncon procs), so what would be a good substitute? My guess is something like Strike From Shadows and something else (Improved Critical Systems perhaps?) I understand that takes us off-meta (and you rightly preface that it is a meta build video), but it'd be handy for those of us who're nearly there, but not quite.

Have you considered doing a comprehensive breakdown on the bridge officer abilities? The only videosI really found are pretty old from Counter yolo gaming, which not sure if completely up to date, but aside from uncon triggers when you have uncon systems, that info can be tough to find. Maybe even just a top 7 for how you would do a commander+lieutenant commander for each of the three schools. Would be really helpful for new players and for alts that may not have all the specializations or unconventional systems.

Liked the vid and the format. Helped me improve my current builds for different firing modes. Funny how Spencer mentions 1 DOFF and all of a sudden their prices shoot up on the exchange :D. One thing I was unclear on, why DBB for FAW/BO when they have a smaller firing arc compared to beam arrays? I use the Advanced Phaser Beam Arrays (from the Disco FDC) on my FAW builds, should I be changing to DBBs?

I think its personal preference, but DBB have higher natural damage compared to beam banks, and if you can keep all the enemies in the front 90 degree arc, you can ensure all the beams are on target at all times

The Terran Beam Array, from the Terran rep, is very strong even compared with DBBs. The extra damage when enemies are low on health will make up for the lower upfront damage and on elite where enemies have a lot more hp the boost for your dmg is considerable. My highest crit with was around 475k and it was when my gear was not even that good, on an elite run.

I think this is a great format for you to keep doing. Regarding the build, wouldn't the 2 pc Trilithium set be viable? I use the console on it's own on many builds, for the hull buffs and power transfer, with CSV i have the Trilithium turret and heavy turret from rep .

The two piece is meh the hull buff isn't really necessary and the turret is okay IG? But gamma rep and undine turrets are just as good, all just depends what you have ^^

Since the console is an engineering only console you lose an Isomag in order to slot it or use the torp which is really not good. Also to use the omni you ose the pahvan omni which is best in slot omni at this point however with a 4/4 or miracle worker you could theoretically use the turret due to omni restriction/mixed armament synergy. All in all its alot to give up to get a 5% weapon haste buff and a small chance at an extra 10% haste for 15 seconds.

If you are using CSV and have a rear weapon slot open there is no particular reason not to use the Trilithium turret but it isn't particularly special. If you are already using the console, the 2-piece is a nice bonus. If you are not using the console already you might be better off with one of the Rep cannons and the Pahvan Crystal (8% haste instead of 5% and it buffs the Pahvan Omni) or the Ordinance Accelerator from the Gamma Rep (the 2 piece with its turret is quite good as well).

Spencer, would this be the recommended build and loadouts for console as well? Unfortunately it's hard to find console recommended builds, most are built by PC players. Console is limited to accessing the clickies in a timely manner during combat as we have to pull up the circular wheel and scroll to things to be clicking on them, so we tend to have to rely on most things set to auto, and basically what's slotted on our main active bar to click from.

Isn’t is okay to use ETM with a CSV build? I would slot the TS1 with or without the Torp equipped over the BO1 also. But that’s just moi. I do not have three of the seven ST’s you suggest so I’ll break no records. Though songs will be sung and stories told of my adventures none the less

BO/FAW+(RA) = Beam Overload or Fire at Will + the Redirecting Arrays starship trait (one of the Fire at Will duration extenders) For the Dual Beams, either off exchange or from Infinity Lockbox Weapon Packs. Exchange will be cheapest.

Video format feedback : I'm generally positive about this type of composition, with two notes . 1) If you plan to continue, builds (for reference) that includes other ship specializations (Intel, Command, etc.) would likely be welcome as well . 2) While perhaps "taking longer" to record, perhaps a single map (ISE?) would be better to illustrate the difference between the firing modes in one single instance .

I would change one Isomag for the console from the Achilles since its still provided energy but its micro torpedo clicky is just that powerful that its worth taking along.

i wouldn't, the isomags are so powerful, you will be losing out on the damage but more importantly the +7 stacking energy power which is the entire point of using isomags. Always use as many isomags as you can. I realize that you like that micro torp thing so just swap it with another console. Just my 2 cents.

@@realplonk Uhm... + 10 to max power to weapons subsystem when entering combat and + 20 power to weapons subsystems is more then any Isomag does. Also if used correctly the clicky does insane amount of damage and thanks to Spencer's build here you can use it quiet often.

Beta debuff things that you shoot. Delta debuff thing that shoot you but they have to life and hit you for debuff. Offen NPC dont live long enoght for that kind off things.

the one thing that drives me nuts with the competive rep impulse engines, is that I hit my combat abiltities a little to close to make use of them.... and lets not even get started with what was it the lukari impulse that does the same but with being damaged a certain % of the hulls health.... edit: many of the traits casual are from other ships or lockboxes... might not be worth using those in particular and no it is not worth buying ship just for the trait cause you have to makes your self nuts unlocking it when its on a ship you dont like, and this is for each character.

Pretty much all weapons do the same damage with an exception to a select few. Lock box weapons have cool procs sure but they'll only go off maybe three four times in an elite tfo, regular phasers vs obliviating? Is about 10% difference for example. Honestly been playing sto for nearly 9 years just pick your favourite colour and if your build is good it'll perform remarkably. Unless you're chasing the top top numbers you won't notice

Personally I think you would be better off doing that with a piece of rep gear. If you dont want to use dilithium you can even do it with the ones you get from the boxes its random but cheap and pretty easy to start at purple instead of green as it can be tough to get the quality upgrades unless you are using an ultimate upgrade

@@adrewadrew5860 yes but his comment was specifically about picking stuff up in a tfo which if your picking up at a high level (which you would be if your upgrading) will be mark 12 and if your upgrading gear thats mark 12 your better off starting purple and not green. If you're not worried about epic and just wanna get to mark 15 the cheapest way possible with the best results its an option,some of the rep sets can also increase the proc giving you a better chance to proc your bonus, especially viable in the early endgame

Somehow you forgot to mention that you have to have a supporter with you to buff the build, so that the build gives the numbers you present in the parser.

I am sorry for not mentioning that. In traditional random Infected Elites I've done, I have seen around 800k-1m from most of the builds with me pulling up to 60-70% threat on the FAW/CSV attempts. Performance in ISE will be entirely random depending on team composition and how much debuff the random players are bringing in.

I'm curious, did you make these builds on the Typhoon because the ship itself is good for them, or are you more thinking of trying to find ways to make the ship useful? I vaguely remember ppl being disappointed with the ship when the stats came out. *EDIT* - I ask bc I'm on break from the game atm and want to know if I should still bother getting the Typhoon lol :)

Those Phaser ISOmags are expensive, 17 million EC the last time I checked. I wonder if they can be crafted.

They can be crafted. And 17mil is pretty cheap to what they have been. Mk15 epics go as high as 150mill if not more. And for good reason, iso mags are STRONG

They can, there are specific other videos for that. But you get the parts from elite tfo's/exchange. The main issue in crafting them is it can be very difficult/expensive to get a good modifier as the list of available modifiers is massive and you can reroll them 10-30 times and still end up with a buff to perception or stealth. If your not chasing the absolute tippy top of dps and can decide on focusing down between beams and cannons on a character those ones tend to be cheaper than going for the main damage types like phaser and disrupter. At Mark 15 epic you get 39.4% for a single energy type, or if you go cannon/beam its 34.5%, so a little less but if your operating broader and trying multiple different energy builds, you only need 2 sets instead of 6 sets

Random Elite TFOs is your best bet. Then in engineering R&D tab you can craft advanced console. Getting Phasers is unlikely so you can craft a lot or reengineer them(this can be very expensive)

They are expensive because landing the phaser mod on a reroll is rare and costly if you push hard for it.

When Isomags first came out and were harder to get I sold a few Phaser Epics for 99m+ a piece. Nowadays the basic consoles are much easier to buy or craft, even if re-rolling for the mod you want can be tough. I'd say 17 million for a guaranteed Phaser mod is a bargain, as it's most likely cheaper than the dilithium you'll lose re-rolling another console for it. I occasionally buy up some cheap isomags, re-roll them but stop as soon as it lands on any one of the energy damage types. Then you can either use it or sell it on for more EC. I eventually acquired my phaser consoles that way.

The one variable that governs if these builds work or not is Cryptic Studios. I experience this first hand. Almost always I get Cryptic's proverbial middle finger. And my build and playstyle matches that of other players. I have sunk up words of $100 on respect tokens. I have lost track on how many player builds I followed. I have ruled out that it has anything to do with what I am doing. And it has everything to what Cryptic is doing. Which going by their actions alone. They could two shit's about their own rules and the game mechanics. It's not necessarily what they do. But how they do it, is the issue. The "how it's done" is the violation. So I stand by my claim that Cryptic Studios violates their own rules and they cheat. They have done a fantastic job at proving it to me.
