If there is 1 qol change STO could use it's showing the cooldown of an ability in the tooltip.

Binning the tooltip and showing what is hidden in the more detail's would be even better. As that shows everything. One look at the Disco Lobi rifle proves this. Its main and best feature is only shown in the more details. Not in the base tooltip at all. Similar for ground weapons. They do like to mess with weapon ranges. As a fair few weapons don't have the normal 25/35 metre ranges.

@@Yandarval Doesn't the Advanced Herald Antiproton Beam Projector staff have a really long range? I have it on two of my toons and it feels like it hits at about the range of a sniper rifle.

@@psychotheunsane7285 3 for primary and 30 for secondary. I assume you are seeing it chain further from your hit. So it looks like the shot went further. Another hidden range from standard (35) rifle is the section 31 heavy rifle. As a rifle, you would think it’s 35 range. It’s 20 or 25m range.

Man, I had the Tholian Nucleating Core just sitting in my event store.. no idea what a Gem of an item this really was. I remember the event and thinking the Crystal Harmonics set sounded very mid but I always do the events anyway just because things always change in this game and something that is trash today can be meta tomorrow. I had absolutely no idea about this until this video, added it to my build and man is it fantastic. Another of many great tips from CasualSAB.. thank you again man!

Cheers Spence! Good to see that by accident, I seem to be hitting some of the meta stuff by equipping my ships with the KCB and Assimilated Module. The Tholian core is phenomenal on my Sci torp set ups, with a buffed GW3 causing all manner of chaos. The Gorn ship is out of my price range, but I've got most of the rest of it. Thanks to you and others, my builds have taken leaps I didn't think possible until recently, and I'm finally getting a bit of a handle on some of the mechanics interactions.

My big problem with this game even though I am not a dps chaser is the constant new gear. I have not upgraded a single ship to double x. I have too many ships to be able to choose which one I want to max out. I do plenty of damage with no upgrades, I have not even bothered boosting many of my engines and shields to XV. It may be a lack of bank space that is my problem as I like to delete rep gear to make space so I don't upgrade it. I kept a lot of garbage in my banks going back 10 years. I guess your video indicates I should fully upgrade a Fleet Silik to max.

Also i love the awahee, you can do some interesting barbie and it was a ship I enjoyed making barbie on before the 14th bundle added it as a carrier.. i also fell in love with carriers early on as they scale so well with minimal investment.

The Ahwahnee is a very capable support carrier platform. Solid all around. But if you slap its pets and console on a Suliban Silik with its IFF Manipulator console, the sheer amount of DR debuff you can stack upon enemies, especially with a SCI toon, is nothing short of devastating.

Yeah, there are ways to optimize for each type of environment. Many of the initial items discussed here will also help solo.

Use regular tactical consoles AND isomags for insane power. I use this concept on my plasma specialist toon Aittra (my Romulan)

Her Khopesh T6-X2 dreadnought warbird runs 7 plasma tactical consoles and 2 plasma isomags. Combine that with Plasma Wave, Hull Image Refractor and Flagship Tactical Computer (Ablative Hazard Shielding for defensive bulk), and FILTHY damage...and she hasn't even been fully upgraded to mark XV!

Anyone know what the ability is that I see in the pets tab of the combat log, usually listed as large enemies like "Borg Cube", "Gateway" etc? Can do over 100k so pretty powerful whatever it is.

Not sure whether it's a good idea but seeing as I mostly do PUG elites, would you slot Tachyon Net Drones (I already own it) and if so, can you explain how it works? I don't understand the crit hit part. Like I crit multiple of the enemies within that 3km radius and they all drop shields for 5 sec? And this includes the huge enemies? Deploy Tachyon Net Drones for 45 sec which apply the following to all foes within 3km radius: * -41.3 Damage Resistance Rating * Reveals Cloaked Ships * On Critical Hit: Applies __ Kinetic Damage (Ignores Shields) and Shields Offline for 5 sec

Yeah, even in solo it can be handy. The downside to tachyon net drones is the activation time, but it lasts a long time and can heavily debuff a group of foes. If you look back at my solo Gravity Kills, is what I used vs the Tzenkethi at the end to get through them so fast.

That is the console from the friendship. BUT, you can't apply it to yourself, someone else with that console has to use it on you in order for you to have that lightning appear from your ship.

They really should just put any event equipment or useful items into the Lobi store after a year at most. Exclusivity and elitism over items isn't worth anything, it's just locking people out of gear.

For channel/pug runs I would still do the Dhailkhina. KCB is good in those unshielded environments, but will fall behind in pugs where enemy shields are up more. That gorn exp weapon does really good in that random content.

For the Silik console, even if they just opened it up to all other Carriers, FDCs, and Dreadnought Carriers it would allow a ton more options. There's a bunch of unlocks they can do, particularly for older C-Store ships that would make a ton of sense and might even make them a little bit of money in the case of stuff that's now locked to older T5/T6 ships. I know it's not a meta concern, but why can't I have my Caitian Stalker Fighters on any carrier I fly?! 😆

The [Phaser] mod ones are certainly not the easiest to get. 40+ possible mods has made those Phaser ones typically cost 15-20m per console.

@@CasualSAB I tested it cpl times and to get a phaser is a looong way sometimes 20+ and sometimes 50+ rolls which is ridiculous amounts of Dil spent and everyone should buy the damn thing of the exchange no matter the cost :)

I waited forever for a T6 Stargazer, the Ahwahnae really disappointed me as it's just a 3/3 sci carrier, not an assault cruiser or flight deck cruiser at least, so inconstant to the original T5, hopefully they still do a Legendary Stargazer.

I reported it as a nerf it was not doing what it use to so in combat power levels go up now it goes up so SLOW it is a out right lie to but the stats on it in past moved it into 130 all subs !I wish they have back bone come out say They nerfed it ! With ISO mags plus that new console you are talking about you would set world record dps ! Why I say this Sub power with ISO mags would Be at lest 200 weapons at min 130 all other subs ! I said my Peace Casual SAB wish they had the balls to come out be honest in this game ! ty for video !

think the protostar 360 beam is pretty good..... and this is from someone who really really really dislikes the protostar set. well its really good for phasers... and speaking of proton damage, you can up it a little more with consoles from the dyson rep store and you could use the dyson rep console too. I think the rep store console is better in this case you can get one iirc that has another damage addition type.....which you could get one that added say phaser damage. the reason the rep store is better, cause the proton beam weapons imo stink

Yeah, cross faction flying was a huge change a few years back. Being able to use any ship on any faction tore down one of the biggest faction barriers.

Nothing really new to pick from for those of us long timers. Even the wonderful Epic Phoenix token or Lobi rewards; all just old undesirable ships and weapons. Of no value = vendor trash for most. They are only dredging from 10 year old material. Repeatedly. The fears of nothing new beyond what was already completed before the latest buyout are not being disproved.

Ewww Meta... That's that thing where people ignore 99% of stuff in in game for the 1% broken things that really shouldn't exist. As a game developer like myself - that really hurts! Imagine giving players 200,000 ways to play the game, but they just settle for 4 only. *Meta* is a very cancerous word around my studio. Never create something so good it obsoletes everything else.

You must be new to STO. I have played since it came out. It has always been fundamentally broken. Cryptic has done more to amplify the meta than anything. Their idea of "difficulty" is to simply turn every enemy into a damage sponge. The meta builds exist to get around the fact that virtually everything in the endgame has 10X the hull and shields that the average player does. A player is either running non-meta and is cherry tapping or is running meta and insta-popping everything. If a specific meta gets too prevalent for Cryptic's taste, they hit the skills responsible with a nerf bat or introduce a new enemy-only skill or mechanic to instakill unprepared players. Power creep is a very real problem in the game, as well. Max level has been capped at 65 for almost a decade whereas the new factions, ships and enemies have long justified at least a cap of level 80 and a tier 8 in terms of ships. Balance issues are so endemic to STO that the only way I see to fix it is to start a new MMO from scratch to get away from the antiquated spaghetti code behind the game itself.

@@schwartzritterx5905 No I'm not new at. I started in 2011 I know exactly how the game became steaming dung. It's basically 'Magic Ships Online'. Not even Star Trek anymore to be honest. HP sponges was the absolutely worst way to do things. Giving the NPC's attack pattern Alpha or RSP would have changed things up. More skill and better Ai was needed, 1,000,000 HP for everyone is the most 'Novice' move a game dev can do. I use to do that with my RPG games. I stopped because Enemies with better skills were more exciting and fun. My game don't have a meta. I was smart enough to make everything useful in some way, and didn't create a 'universal' solution to every enemy. One STO dev said: "We don't want to create a 'thing' everyone must use and have to use. We want to create options for players." Ironically they failed horribly! Personally I would nerf everything Meta as soon as people say it's meta . That's just me as a game dev...

After this last update with the new story arc, I'm not hopeful Was really looking forward to the battle, royae, thinking it was going to be in space surviving waves and waves of borg cubes, but no, we got the shit show we have that's never been a battle royale doesn't even play like a battle royale it's an embarrassment and a joke what they've given us they could of made something really good but no the devs were to freaking lazy to come up with something that would be any good I know for one I've played it once and that's enough ground missions are not that good at the best of times and the they throw this joke on us
