I could listen to Pete playing all day long. This opener is absolutely unbelievable!
@JaredPitcher2 жыл бұрын
This is such a good live option for pads and ambient stuff. A lot of my live playing is done with just the basic bass, drums and guitar, but I often wish we had a keyboard as well. I can see this filling in some of that space really well!
@michaelsnydermusic2 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. That’s how I use my Pedal Plus Sustainer which is the same thing but was far more expensive and the first of its kind. It’s great for ambient music recording as well. I often do improvisations over a sustained chord. I found tremolo is the best effect to use over the sustained notes. You should definitely look into this pedal if you do live performances. It’s like having both a keyboardist and a second instrument at once.

The thing I hated about the Freeze was that it didn't compress your playing. That is, if you'd step on the switch right during your pick attack, the effect would be twice as loud as if you stepped on it a quarter of a second later. They could have solved this by digitally compressing your input signal, then allowing the level pot to decide how loud your pad sound would be.

Apparently if you combine this pedal with a Sustainiac pickup, you get infinite sustain x2, which is the real reason why the dinosaurs became extinct.

After comparing the TC Infinite, EHX Freeze and Gamechanger Plus (and hearing all the positives/negatives likes “warble”, etc.) I purchased the full sized Infinite ... I'm REALLY glad I did (what an awesome pedal and so inspiring to play). It sounds great and the built in verb is a really put the Infinite over the top. But the real advantage of the Infinte is the TonePrint functionality which allows you to completely shape the effect to your needs. The Gamechanger pedal is a cool design but not sure the large metal press pedal is enough of an advantage to justify the price difference (the Plus has no verb onboard & no toneprint). The EHX Freeze is a great pedal but I didn't like the fixed drone sound & clicky switch (Freeze has no verb onboard & no toneprint & no FX loop). Note: I originally was a bit frustrated with TC Infinite as I THOUGHT (incorrectly) the Verb effect stopped when you ended the sustain (which meant you had verb on your dry signal but it went away when you stopped the sustain effect). BUT thanks to TC support, I discovered you CAN use the onboard verb for your dry signal even AFTER you have turned off the sustain effect!! That's awesome! To do this you need to use a Toneprint slot and under the Tonprint app. set Routing Tab>Set Reverb Always On to 0.0db. THis is huge as your dry signal will have reverb even if you aren't using the sustain effect - so cool. As I played around with the Toneprint app, it became very apparent to me that the competition could not complete with how the Toneprint allows you to completely customize the effect to your needs - it is really useful. The only things I would have like to see added to the Infinite would be MIDI and Expression Pedal inputs. I could go on and on but all the options they give you with the Infinite really make this a no-brainer when comparing to the competition. I just hope the footswitch holds up because you are riding it more than most pedals (why an external sustain pedal would have been awesome for this but oh, well).

My God, Pete's been taking his health/appearance seriously lately! Looks seriously handsome and healthy. I've visited the TC factory before they started making guitar pedals, I think they had only the G-force. They were super nice, we were served a really large lunch and a tour of the factory. Each and every rack mount unit went through a 30 cm controlled fall, then being tested quickly before packaging 📦

I believe I've heard Beato mention that he uses some kind of sustainer. I think Pete might be wrong that it's done in post afterwards.
@mikeygoda2 жыл бұрын
Rick has and uses a EHX Freeze sometimes, but a lot of the time he adds keys in post instead, and that usually sounds a lot more musical. These sustainer pedals are fun to practice and make music with, but can’t fully replace what a separate keyboard part can do.

Just heard this pedal compared with the EHX Freeze and there's modulation on the sustained note which according to the video's creator can't be disabled and that for me is a hard no when it comes to this pedal. Was really hoping it would be a good alternative but it just isn't the sound i'm looking for.

The only thing the freeze has on this pedal is that the TC can sometimes have a bit of unwanted modulation which becomes quite obvious when listening to the sustained loop alone. But playing over it, there isn’t a big noticeable difference. And for a more affordable price and so many more parameters, I think I know which one I’m picking. (Even though I wish i cld afford both haha)

I thought so too but tried the Plus for a few minutes and although that short time to play with it, I didn’t dig it as it was hard to capture the sample notes just right… I am still open to the Plus but at that price, I’m gonna try the Infinite first. Not sure if you really need a full size sustain pedal like on the Gamechanger as it certainly looks cool but adds to the cost. I also don’t want to send a pedal for repair to Latvia and wait to get it back.
