This demo convinced me to get one. I was aiming for the Harmony Singer (The latest version), but come to hear it, there's not much of a difference when it comes to the quality of the harmony. The only difference is the Harmony Singer has that Tone button and some reverb, which is a nice touch to it. This demo is legit. Already used my H1 and it sounds fantastic.

Hey! Thanks for the comment! It's all the H1. That particular one is using the close harmony above and below setting. That's my 'go to' setting for most occasions - really fills out the sound. Hope that helps!

@villeurbanneable Thanks! I'm glad you like it, and I'm glad you're going to get one! They're great pedals! @ryanschmidtmusic Glad you like it. I've used the H1 on a few solo gigs, but far more subtly than demonstrated here! People scarcely notice, but it does provide a lift. I've not done an exhaustive test, but I think when you play power chords it just uses the 5ths and creates chords off there. I do that in the chorus of Livin' on a Prayer and it sounds epic!

I enjoyed this demo very much, in fact it's one of the better demos of these pedals I have seen. You have a really good voice and the TC pedals compliment beautifully. I really like the Harmony setting you used with your voice ( 2 ABOVE ) really sweeeeet. I presently use the Digitech Vocalst Live 4 and love it but these singles may win me over to TC's side. I hope you will do more videos using these pedals will love to hear a full song. Take care!

@DeadWhiteButterflies Hi. Sorry for the slow response. So, my chain is pretty straight forward - and goes left to right as you look at it - T1 (tone pedal, levels things up nicely), H1 Harmony Pedal, then R1 (reverb pedal, make it all sound lovely). In this video my acoustic is coming out of the bypass on my tuner pedal. This means you can mute the acoustic signal as running to the PA, and still use the guitar chords for creating harmony. I do this live for some tracks I don't play guitar on.

Hi Mike great demos just bought the H1 on the strength of it, they owe you lol. re the harmonies being separate from the lead VOX I see to possible options 1) if like us and are using using a radio mic then the H1 could be connected via the individual channel send on the mixer (or the send from the insert) then the output of the H1 set to wet and fed to a separate channel or 2) if you are set up as in this video use a splitter and feed the mic to one channel and the H1 to another.

Bought this after watching your video. No other video showed off the potential of this pedal like yours did and I must say it was a great purchase. Our drummer who did all our harmonies had to leave recently which left us stuck. But this pedal fills the harmony gap really well. One thing I will say is that I find you get better harmonies if you dial in the key as opposed to instrument tracking...maybe its just me lol

@greateranticipation if I'm understanding you correctly you're asking if its possible to output all three sounds through one input: I'm afraid not. The vocal and harmonies come from one output, and there is a 'through' for the guitar. This, to be honest, seems to be best for most situations. The only option I'd really like to see is only harmonies through the output:no dry vocal, regardless of effect on or off. That way you could mix the harmonies at the engineers end.

Hi Mike.... I'm using this pedal but have difficulty with harmonies in minor keys. I know that you can hold the pedal down and change the settings to get minor harmonies, but that's where my knowledge ends. For instance, if I'm playing in Am I've tried using the C setting but this doesn't work. The other problem is if you switch it off for the verse an on again for the chorus, it looses any setting made by holding the pedal down.... I guess everything has it's limitations!
@MikeAshelby
@MikeAshelby 13 жыл бұрын
@bobbything You certainly could use it for recording, but to my understanding, it doesn't work as a soundcard. As such, you'd need a soundcard, and plug the output from this into an input on the soundcard.

Can't find a video showing this being used with GUITAR. I'm an acoustic solo player who doesn't sing and want something to add those harmony parts to simple melodies. The Boss Harmonist is about 50 bucks (U.S.) more than this, but does a ton of additional stuff--which I don't really NEED. So I'll keep looking now for a guitar-only demo!
@JWNOSNHOJ

The difference between a harmony pedal and live backing singer(s) is you can't get away with being slightly off, if you are off tune then the harmonies will follow your voice and any spurious sounds you might make and duplicate them in harmony. Good backing singers however will not do this and to some extent will mitigate your mistakes. In other words you have to sing well in tune without any strange spurious noises.
@MikeAshelby
@MikeAshelby 11 ай бұрын
Such a good point. I would never suggest this is a replacement for great backing singers. I actually find I need to sing with the tone of a backing singer to get the best out of the pedal: otherwise it sounds like 3 lead singers fighting for the front spot. I have found it quite good for thickening harmonies, or providing 3 part bvs by myself. It's good fun.
@JWNOSNHOJ
@JWNOSNHOJ 11 ай бұрын
@@MikeAshelbyThanks for that reply. I understand your point about singing with the tone of a backing singer e.g. singers like Johnny Cash or Bob Dylan would have some trouble with an harmonizer pedal.

@petesguitar Thanks! I've considered the options when using this type of pedal and wanting a 'dry' and 'wet' signal. Unfortunately, the issue is that when the unit is turned off, the dry signal comes through, regardless of the wet/dry mix. As such, you end up with 2 dry signals if you turn the harmonies off. What you'd need is a mute box for an xlr - but I don't know if such things exist!
@MikeAshelby
@MikeAshelby 11 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry for the slow response. Yep, you can use this as just a vocalist. You can just set the key of the song, which works, well - but what would work better would be to take whatever you're singing along to and plug that into the guitar in. It's a pretty robust piece of gear, so you'll find that guitar, keys, or even a full mix would work. What's your setup?
@zedxxx9
@zedxxx9 12 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking that if the MIX knob is turned up full, the harmonies are presumably just as loud or louder than the input vocal. I suppose that might solve me problem in the practise situation described above, effectively turning up the volume of the harmonies to be louder than my input vocal and therefore not amplified as much in the room.

Hi there, sorry, do i need a guitar for the H1? Or the pedal recognize the key in my voice for the harmony?
@MikeAshelby
@MikeAshelby 2 жыл бұрын
Without a guitar you can set it up a fixed key. This is fine, and works well, but there's less flexibility with the harmonies. If you're singing an E in the key of C major, the harmonies could be C and G over a G chord, or C and A over an Am chord, or G and B over an Em chord.
@zedxxx9
@zedxxx9 12 жыл бұрын
Can the VoiceLive Play pedals output the harmonies separately from the main vocal input? Or maybe VoiceLive 2 can do it? Right off the bat, this is a feature I know I would want to have so that I can play the output harmonies in the room without the input vocal. When I am practising I want to hear myself live in the room together with the harmonies coming from a speaker, so that it is like rehearsing with other singers. Dividing the harmonies from the input vocal is important, in my view.

Hi Ted, Sorry it's taken me a little while to get back to you - my notifications seem to have been turned off! Are you definitely talking about the same pedal? To my knowledge there isn't a 'hold down' setting on the H1. The fixed key settings are handy, but I'd always, where possible, use the chord tracking. Singing a C in the key of G would lead to different harmonies if it's over an Am or C chord for example. It's worth noting that almost anything plugged into the 'guitar' input can work.

What's the difference between the doubler and the harmony pedals?
@MikeAshelby
@MikeAshelby 4 жыл бұрын
The double ads a copy of your vocal singing the same melody. It has ways to trick the brain into thinking it's more than one voice, which helps thicken the sound. The harmony pedal copies and moves your vocal to a harmony note based on the chord you're playing or the key it's set to.

Hi. Thanks for getting in touch. Fixing the tracking issues is all about how your hit the notes and chords. I often change the chord voicings to accent the key notes of the chord, or change my vocal tone to a purer tone to help the h1 pick the note more accurately. I hope that helps.

Mike, if you sing in a minor key, as well divides the voice? I bought this pedal in minor tuning as it is not very clean doing backing vocals?
@MikeAshelby

To sing in a minor key you can just play the chords for your song and it will pick them up from the guitar. Alternatively you can set the key to the relative major, which works ok most of the time.

Mike, I do not have instructions, please write in detail how to put the key in the minor? I would be very grateful.

@Hannover1980 Cheers man... I blame the combination of old strings and poor microphone for the guitar!

Hi Mike! I find it hard to track the chords from my electric-acoustic guitar. How's your setup?
@MikeAshelby
@MikeAshelby 7 жыл бұрын
Fernando Herrera plug the guitar straight into the pedal as the first thing in the chair - or take a split from something like a guitar tuner with a true bypass. Next thing is to try and play nice clean chords, letting all the notes ring. Final thing is that sometimes I'll push a chord just before the beat to make sure the pedal keeps up with the harmony. I hope that helps.
