TC Helicon Voicelive Trial - Somebody To Love

I borrowed a good friend's TC Helicon Voicelive for a day to see what it's capable of. I love this song, and have always been a fan of harmony work (usually in bands with 3 or 4 vocalists), and this pedal almost seemed too good to be true...
... I'll let you be the judge of whether or not it is!

Fantastic vocal performance of a difficult song and vocal range. your use of the Helican is amazing. thats a lot of pedle pressing but you pulled it off. gave me a good idea of how the Voicelive sounds and works. thanks for your hard work.

Thank you for doing this video. I happen to be working with a band that bought one of these but have never used it. So they want me to put together a sort of demo for them using their songs to see just how we can use the thing at a live show. So your video is extremely helpful. I think I'll just keep watching it over and over until I can imitate it on my own. So good job. Thanks. I'm afraid I only borrowed this unit for this video. What are your struggling with on the vl3x? They're complex units, but if you know what you're aiming for, it should be possible to work out how to create it.

@@MikeAshelby Hi Mike , I'm a bit of a novice with music in general. I find it hard to get lead guitar sounds that I want for example sound like Hank Marvin . I use a pedalboard in logic pro 10 to get the sounds I want bur Im sure the vl3x could do it but i just don't know how. i'm 65 years old and find it difficult to get my head round some of this tech.

Great performance of a classic tune! Especially for only having the unit for a day! I just got the Voicelive 2 and have been amazed at what it can do. As a solo performer, the benefits are obvious. While being able to perform multi part harmony pieces is tempting, I plan on using it minimalistically as to maintain the integrity of my solo performace. I just want a little extra oomph here and there and get a "What was that and where did that come form?" reaction from my audience.

Mike Ashelby of The Cover Up's (A British cover band) tests TC's Voicelive vocal harmonizer. This is an electronic device/effect box but it is not an autotune effect. Give him a listen as he sings "Somebody To Love". It's an impressive performance for a first time use. Except for his solo @ 2:20, you may want to mute that part. :)

Bless you Bella Nash - you're not wrong about the solo though! Was one big day of experimenting, and otherwise I'm pretty pleased with it. I love gigging with my H1, really fills out those BVs (we always have 2 other vocalists too).

Great job!... This is similar to my Vocalist Live 4 but one feature I see that I like better on the VL4 is when it comes to turning on the harmonies. I can set the push button to apply the harmonies only when I press down on it and when I raise my foot off of it the harmonies cease. Seems there is allot of button tapping to do with this unit but in any case it's is a fantastic pedal and you did a wonderful job with it. Keep these videos coming I enjoy them very much.

Absolutely incredible and brilliantly sang and controlled, I'm only just after buying this unit, I'm a one man band but use backing tracks from my ipad straight to the desk, somebody told me I can actually get this unit to follow the backing tracks played and not having to worry if I play a bum note or chord on my guitar and let your voice do the work, but how do i actually go about setting this process up, as I said I only just bought this second hand, but I think it will be a huge boost to my live shows if set up right, I can play guitar and keyboards but yes there are times we all can strike a wrong chord under pressure, can you give me any info how I go about this, and thank you in advance

Thanks! Glad you like it. It's a great unit. To be honest, I would just run the track into the guitar-in and use it that way. I don't still have it, but it should work that way. I know what you mean about bum chords: easily done! I hope that's some help. Enjoy!

Never hurts to be able to sing well to begin with. I'm impressed. This adds so much dimension. Wonderful chorus sound. Maybe in the next build they'll put in a softer ramp in so it doesn't noticeably pop on. That's the only glitch to my ear. Incidentally, do you use different footwear for the different styles? -- a glass slipper for a Cinderella cover? Hey, those blokes started in on the slipper.

Hey Mike cheers. I just wanted to let you know that you did a great job, you picked a song that is very hard to imitate live by one person , the TC did it's job and it was nice to really listen to a demo that is not doctored up by pro's , you kept the guitar low enough to let the TC stand out.You had to tap dance a bit to change patches and that is something TC may want to look at later in some midi guitar sort of way to change patches when bar cording ,but that is giving my ideas away.
