Such a complicated piece to play, yet so very well performed, such sensitivity and dynamic range, just beautiful! Thank you to Madame Mechetina, Maestro Van Alphen and MSO! Катя показывает нам изумительное исполнительское мастерство. Единственный ее недостаток- это красота. Вы можете смеяться, но Катина красота реально отвлекает от музыки! Ведь не зря поется в песне:"потому что нельзя быть на свете красивой такой". И это про нее тоже. А слушать ее с закрытыми глазами - значит подвергать себя мучениям...

What a joy to hear a pianist bringing something new to this amazing work. Ekaterina Mechetina has such beautiful phrasing, quite unique to her, and brings such a fresh approach to this Tchaikovsky showpiece. I took much delight in watching the use of her shoulders, arms, wrists and hands and how she used them to create wonderful colours to her tones. A true artist. Moreover, maestro Conrad van Alphen was blessed with wonderfully sympathetic playing from the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. An awesome evening of music making. У Екатерины Мечетиной такая красивая, уникальная для нее фразировка, и она привносит такой свежий подход в это произведение Чайковского. Bravo! I never heard of her... Where have I been all my life?? First time I have favored this concerto over Van Cliburn's version. Her technique and dynamics are in sync with the emotional aspect of the piece which can be easily lost, favoring one over the other. Also bravo to the wonderful orchestra and conductor. Must give video cameraman kudos also with great angle shots capturing the physical emotion of the piece, thus, making it so personal, by projecting what the pianist is feeling. Again I say, BRAVO!😀🎹🎹🎶🎵🎶
