@@raymundolucero5735 I'm on the right end in the last row of violas and we would all get goosebumps playing this in rehearsal and in the performance. Maestro Kalam made sure we understood the story behind the music and we tried our best to bring out all those emotions. I'm so proud to have been a part of it and I'm thrilled so many people enjoyed it then and now!!

In fact, I think Tchaikovsky would turn in his grave. The performance lacks subtlety, the conductor only knows loud and soft. If an instrument can make a loud sound, then he pounds the shit out of it. [Pardon my 'French', but it just flowed]. However, I know the thrill of being in an orchestra like this. The experience outweighs any thoughts toward producing a great performance. You do the best you can, and enjoy the experience.

Thanks! I had the privilege to play viola for this specific performance and I can tell you we absolutely loved performing it. We had a particularly strong symphony this year and I think it shows. I remember several audience members coming up to us after saying they cried during the finale. The last 45 seconds gave me goosebumps every time I played it and I know a lot of the other members felt the same way. We tried to channel those emotions into our playing so I appreciate the postivity!!

A song is something you sing. It's not your fault you misuse the word. The way music gets streamed to listeners, an orchestral exerpt has got to be classed as a 'song' to fit into the system of libraries of music. It's great that you've discovered this music (despite all the positive comments, I note that many apparently come from people new to 'classical' music), although this performance is as unsubtle as a brick.

A stunning conclusion to Tchaikovsky's ballet -- drawn out as if concluding a 4-movement symphony, played as well as a professional orchestra. This is how the work should end. Musically Bolshoi's "alternate" quiet and tragic ending (which I saw on Fathom today) doesn't work, although it seems politically motivated to protest what Putin is doing to Russia.
