This is a simple trick to fix Old TCL smart tv's backlight issue. If the backlight LEDs are working but the backlight is on and off time to time (flicker), just try this trick.
I fixed few L50E3800FS, L55E3800FS, L50S4700FS and L55S4700FS tv series.
If you have any questions, comment below. I will answer.

Thank you for the video. I remove 2 resistors. Still blinking. Put heat sink. It is working if i do not put the cover on. Then my last solution. I drill 16 holes on the cover so there's air ventilation for the heat sink. It is working ok so far for 10 min.

Bought a used TCL 43S405 and it's having this same issue. Googled the power supply and seems to be different, not sure if it will be a similar fix or not though. Setting the TV to "Low Power" in the picture settings, and the brightness to "Normal" makes it stop flickering constantly but the picture is a lot darker than I'd like. All of the LED's in the backlight seem to be working as I don't see any dark spots in the screen anywhere. Seems the power supply is just cutting power to the strips constantly. If I set it to any mode other than "Low Power" and then set the brightness to "Brightest" in the menu it starts flickering constantly every 2-3 seconds almost like clockwork. If I set it to just "Bright" it flickers every 5-7 seconds. Turning "Low Power" mode off, and setting it to any other picture mode and the brightness to "Dark" or "Darker" seems to "fix" it as well. It definitely seems to be something power related, I just don't really know what. I'd guess heat related if it didn't do it almost instantly between switching brightness modes, but it's not a slow build up. Feels like LED over current or something. As soon as the LED's get more voltage it cuts the power to them on a cycle. I'm guessing good power supply, bad LED's? Lower the voltage sent to the LED's seems to be the "working" solution, so I'm not sure of a proper fix. Thoughts?

Hi. We have the same problem and I followed your instructions. After I removed one of the resistors, it worked for 15 minutes then again same problem. I did not fix the heat sink but I removed another resistor. It was turning on but no more led lights from the screen. Now, I messed up the 2 resistors. Can you advise how to fix? Shops here dont have the R470 resistors and need to order online.

I have the heat sink available but I still need to fix the resistors first before putting additional heat sink.

Did you check the LEDs in the backlight, are they all good? If yes, add a resistor back and add extra heatsink(don't short circuit the heat sink and other components). Also do a proper dust cleanup for both Power board and main board using a brush. If you lost two 470 resistors, just use around 47 Ohms normal resistors for them. Don't use low values, it will damage LEDs. Good luck..!

@@tech-corner2556 yes all led's are working before I lost the resistors. I don't have any clue about resistors as I just diy the problem and came across your video. I will check with some shops here about 47 ohm. Thanks for replying.

@@spanksoil4 If you are going to add back two 47Ohms, use 0.5 W resistors. If you are going to add back only one 47Ohms, it is good to use 0.75W or 1W. As you said the backlight was working when only one 47 is removed? If yes, I recommend to use two 100 Ohms with 0.5W. It will make 50 ohms resistor (because they are parallel) which is close to one 47 Ohms. You can easily find the 100 ohms 0.5w resistor.

@@Boss56641 This seems a panel issue. But I can't understand why it is happening only with youtube or screen sharing if it is a panel issue. I have seen this type of small flickering from a edge of the screen (TCL Tvs) due to panel issue and was able to reduce the flickering until it is not visible level(not completely). Can you send me video? Then I can get a idea about the issue. Did you check/clean the t-con ribbon cables first of all? Follow these steps: 1. Clean the T-CON ribbon cables. 2. Remove one side's ribbon cable to see other half of the screen is working correctly. If working correctly, that mean the removed side has the issue. Do the same thing for other side as well. Not you can understand whether the issue coming from a side or not. 3. If the issue exist in a side, you can try this trick > kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppfVg5utbJKNf6s I had a picture flickering up and down issue (may be this is the same issue you have), and fixed with this trick. I have the same problem right side Flickr snd red line/pixels vertical, from what i see it was fix with tape on the 12 and 13 pin but you need to have two 80!pin and no one going from main board so you do it to the one going to the right side only. From what i know so far it was sorted ic on main board that need to be isolated pins by the tape

This may be due to panel issue. First remove the LCD and turn on the backling and see whether the LEDs are actually blinking.

@@JC-YT-JC I just watched your video. This may be backlight issue or panel issue. To identify the issue follow these steps. 1. Remove the T-CON board to panel ribbon cable in the flickering side and turn on the tv. Now you will see a dark or white color screen in that half of the screen. If you still see the flickering (if the screen is dark you can observe the flickering via other side, because the flickering is spread in whole screen in background if it is a backlight issue), it is a backlight issue. then remove the backlight cover and test all individual LED's and replace bad LEDs. See this video for more details : kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHS5hWxjgdmmatE 2. If the flickering stopped when remove the ribbon cable in that side, it is a panel issue which is difficult or unable to fix. You can try this method and if you have a luck, you can get it working > kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppfVg5utbJKNf6s Don't think about the issue which explined in that video, but follow the Tape pasting step. You don't need to use large tape and cut and remove. Jut paste a small (around 2-3mm) tape to cover few 2-3 lines and move the tape into different lines untill you get a proprer picture without flickering.. Let us know the results. Good luck..!
