THIS WORKED FOR ME ALSO. Like @johndate1776 commented above, my TCL (model 55R615) has two ribbons at the bottom of the screen near the IR sensor. Each ribbon has 80 pins. My flashing was on the left half of my screen, so I taped off pins 12 and 13 on that ribbon with simple black electrical tape. Using a reading magnifier, after about 10 cutting attempts, I got sliver of tape just the right size to cover 2 pins. I reassembled, and the flickering is gone. This video should win an award for the BEST fix-it video on KZbin!! It is 1) very technical but easy 2) it's free 3) it SAVES the TV from going into the trash, and 4) IT WORKS! Great job. Thank you!

I just did this fix 20 minutes ago. I fixed a Canadian 55R617 (55 inch series 5 I bought in 2020). The ribbon in question was on the T Con board which is located at the bottom middle of the unit when you get the back off. Same idea, count in from the left on the cable until you hit 12/13 and lay down the tape. Took a few tries to get the position right, but it works!

Thanks for the video! Here are a few tips that worked for me. 1. Left side of the tv flickered so had to pull out the opposite ribbon to the one in this video. Then tape pins 68 and 69 (like others have said) 2. Counted the pins by listening to an exacto blade go over each one. Was much easier to count the clicking sound and feel than counting just with eyes. 3. I put blue marker on the tape so I could see the tape better and make sure I covered correct pins. Really happy I found this video. Now just have to wait and see if the right side fails too. Not a good sign there have been so many people with this problem. TCL👎

@RadnusTechnology2 жыл бұрын
Hello, that's right, just scotch tape over the pins. Tested for about 2 weeks, no issues. Heat at the ribbon should be minimum, keeping fingers crossed. Those pins probably corresspond to Backlight auto adjustment functions which started malfunctioning causing the flicker and taping the pins disables that function altogether.

I read in the comments of other YT clips on this that this requires a hardware replacement. Which part? I assume that taping pins on the ribbons leading to the T con (timing control) board disrupts the signals of the respective circuits from reaching this board thereby not engaging whatever component is faulty. So, is it highly likely that the T con board is faulty? And is it sensible to simply replace it? I have seen prices in the $30-35 range for a T con board. That's incredibly affordable and a much better option than paying a repair shop or getting a new TV.

It actually works.. thanks bro! Successful after 3 attempts switching on and off the tv to check. First 2 attempts of using overlapping scotch tapes didn't work. Finally works when I used a masking tape over the 2 layers of tape to fully block the connection. Easier to cut the tapes using penknife and cutting board. And magnifying glass to count the 12th and 13th strip.

Yes you can use electrical tape. For the other tv you would need to try it but it should ideally work coz most of these TVs have the same underlying hardware. Do leave a like on the video and do subscribe to the channel.

Posted my comment in the wrong section. Moved it here. Original comment below. Hey! Wanted to say thank you so much! I'm extremely glad I found your video! You saved me a couple hundred USD. Your fix seems to have solved my flickering issue on the right side of my 55inch TCL Roku tv. Hope this fix lasts. Thank you again. P.s. How did you know it was pins 12 & 13? And what do they control? I'm very curious.
@RadnusTechnology Жыл бұрын
Hello, glad to know that your TV display issue is now fixed. Thanks for sharing your experience. With regards to the pins, each pin controls a different function of the display and the flicker issue is related to malfunctioning of the automatic backlight control and by taping the pins that control this feature we are in a way disabling the feature that is malfunctioning. You will still be able to control the backlight through settings.

I have a TCL 55DC748. For a while it showed the same small icon, your screen shows in the bottom left corner. A white square with three slashes and a red box in the top right corner of the white box. It flashes. Initially I got rid of it by unplugging the tv for 10 minutes and plugging it back in. This would be ok for a week and then it would return. Now my screen has started flicking, then it had a complete scrambled screen. Again, I turned off, left it for a while and turned back on. The screen had stabilised but every other day the problem returns. The icon in the bottom left corner remains until I turn it off for 10 minutes or so. How did you get ride of the icon in the bottom left corner?

Will you clarify me one thing? Is is an issue with the ribbon or a circuit board problem? I am getting this 80 pin ribbon on amazon so if i replace the ribbon will it work or taping is the only solution. My tv is now out of warranty so i dont want to call service centre they will charge more

Cool stuff! Will do it on my xiaomi q1e later. Dont know either its will work or not. Btw what is the logic behind it? And does pin 12 and 13 is just unnecessary or there is something we will lose atfer not using it?
