Think about how many rockers of Mark's generation we have lost in the past 5 years. Mountain, Rush, Van Halen and ZZ Top can no longer carry on because Leslie West, Dusty Hill, Neil Peart, and Eddie Van Halen have all passed away. But Mark, Don, and Mel are all still alive and--as far as I know---healthy. Mark has said this in countless interviews--as long as they are all still sucking air---get back together, if for no other reason, but for the fans. You don't know how many years you may have left on this planet, and if the deaths of your own peer group aren't enough to warn you about your own mortality, get it together whilst there are still grains of sand left in the hour glass

Don refuses Even with a guarantee of 20 million for a US tour. It's no from Don, Mel's as follower ,but just as guilty of stepping Mark's voting rights & voice in the Corporation, he still gets royalties from Phoenix on. He has to give up his rights to the first 6 albums, cuz Terry knew he'd lose, but it could've been tied up in courts for well over 4+ years, the band would've been out of the picture, at their prime. Phoenix which he wrote every song, if any weren't It'd been worse by Don. Then the big ones American band & Shinin on as well all the Girls in the world beware, with tired songs Don & Craig wrote, like Take me, as close to disco that Funk ever played. Mark Promised 2 years & to play with both his solo band and Grand Funk, then Don after partying that Mark rarely does anymore. Not sure if he smokes pot, since he's 72 in Sept. It's now legal in Michigan. I know he quit at one time. Smoking pot, not Grand Funk. I'll give 9 links to the entire story & as long as my software doesn't see any funny business, I'll look at your link. I've watched hundreds of links, had Mark's biography personally signed. Don's wife sent a release for her book about Grand Funk fans.

Why ? We used to laugh at old 60's groups doing the nightclubs, cabaret and holiday camp circuits in the 70,s . What is the difference ? They,re 50 something years older ,so do you really think they,re be playing their old music with the same enthusiasm that they did then ? Times and People change and those days are gone . The old cynic in me thinks it,s money , boredom and craving attention that is the motivating force behind these reunions . Don,t get me wrong . l still like the bands , still have the albums and still listen to them . But attempts at recreating the past makes me cringe . Nothing wrong with nostalga it,s when it,s used to rake in the dollars that l object too . Look at the Stone , Black Sabbath , Rod Stewart etc .

Mark thought it was just the coolest thing that I brought my daughters to the show. They signed numerous tshirts and even signed my personal vinyl Red Album and and CD....The band I was in during high school and early college days played so many early GFR songs...most of the crowd didn't even know who they were! Lol. I'm 64 year's old and can't even begin to tell you what those three and their music mean to me. I haven't cried this much since my daughter's weddings!! Dolly Parton very politely and in a very classy way turned down the invitation to be inducted into the Rock 'n Roll HOF. Made me admire her even more but that begs the question, how in the world can Dolly Parton be considered for a place in the Rock HOF before Grand Funk??? It's totally ridiculous and how many acts already in there pale in comparison to Mark, Don and Mel. Somehow, some way the fix has to be in and they must have some powerful enemy working behind the scenes to keep them out. Their bonafides speak for themselves and it is totally ridiculous that they have not yet been inducted.

Get this thru to Don & Mel’s heads that this is bigger than any past pettiness. You don’t want the forever empty hole that remains after their gone. Mark has come around to God as have I, it’s way past time for them to have their ‘“Come to Jesus” moment & see how big this picture actually is. Graduated high school in 1974 - Grand Funk was the best dance boozy music! I still can’t get enough of their music! Please get back together Mark, Don and Mel, show those who originally screwed you all - that YOU and Your MUSIC is TIMELESS- show the old ass music producers your better than them! ONE MORE TIME!

They play in my city on April 2nd. It's a 1500 seat performing arts center and they have sold about half the tickets. I'm sure if it were Mark, Don and Mel, the place would be sold out. Get back together guys. I work at the center so I will see the show for free, but I sure wish Mark was in the band.

I saw them at Shea Stadium and then for the Bosnia concert. I probably would go again if they reformed.

If they do work out their differences, they need to get it together and release the full Shea Stadium 1971 video shot by the Maysles Brothers who did the Gimme Shelter movie. I have 40 minutes of the show on my channel, but they need to get that entire video out! They missed an opportunity last July to do it for the 50th anniversary.

That would be a great idea! Oh dude you got a killer channel. I just browsed thru it and saw you have a video of Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush!! I saw them at a small 2000 seat theater in St Louis one time..They just kicked ass!! I subbed your channel...give me some new stuff to look at tonight :-)

I woke up this morning with a troubled mind about the current issues in the country/world and the lyrics of a GFR song, CREEPIN, bouncing round in my head, for some reason. Put the song on while I got my coffee. Great song. Amazingly accurate/ prophetic, then and now 50 years later. I cant imagine growing up without GFR. Mark played the fairgrounds just a couple miles from the house some years back. I was out of town,besides, it was Mark, not GFR. I couldnt imagine remarrying my ex But it's a no brainier that we collaborate when it comes to the kids even though they're grown. Point is, GFR 1, will never be remembered as solo artists but they will be as a band. 2, they have an obligation to the offspring (the music) that came from their collaboration. To a lesser degree, the fans as well. That's their connection to being remembered. My suggestion would be a couple inline petitions, 1 to RR Hall of Fame and 1 to the band members. Maybe if they see the demand it might just be the kick in the ass they need.

No, no, and no. No reunion for selfish fans and all their money, no hall of fame for selfish Exects who want a Feather, and no need to reopen that wound that left a nasty scare ! I have been in that place. No "need" to play music with certain people again. It happens at all levels of the business...

Not going to happen, I just come from seeing Mark Farner in Nigeria NY, Mark is the talent.

I wouldn’t except an induction from the rock-in roll hall of fame. It’s obvious they don’t appreciate what it takes to be a true professional musician and not just a studio artist.

I just last month seen the Don and Mel grand funk tribute band. lol It wasn't bad I must admit, and when they played the songs that Don sang originally you would never know the difference. But I need the original three, not two out of three.

Somehow Mark Farner would get screwed or tricked into signing some kind of contract taking away everything he ever did that was involved with Grand Funk. They already did a reunion tour back in 1997-98. Let it be....

plus a reunion in 1981/82 although without Mel

Would love to see the original line up. And would pay 💰. Saw em in Honolulu in the mid 80’s. Mark Farner and Don Brewer. And an unknown bass player. I think he was from the big island but not sure. I was not happy Mel was not in that line up. He’s one of the bass player greats ..I would go just to see him
@richardrosner84472 жыл бұрын
What do I think? Yeah they should tour for us, who've followed them forever. Just like I personally believe Led Zeppelin owe me for sure, with Jason on drums. I don't really care for the hall of fame, as it's now for the likes of Cool and the Gang. Should be only real rock. Just my 3 cents.

A reunion would be absolutely great!! This video is right, the current band IS nothing but a tribute band!! No Farner no Funk!!
@georgeprice42122 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if it would happen. Mark gets asked all the time about any chance of a reunion and he seems to be open to it, but knows that it’s not going to happen. Don is happy with Kulick being on stage, and Mel is just happy to be out there playing. (And, the Eagles have a great reason for not having Frey there)

GOOD NEWS! My high school have our 51st reunion next month. One classmate has done extra well financially; has also made some connexions in his life. Guess who we are having for our Saturday Dance Night? He had 2 choices; Johnny Rivers was already booked. The Mark Farner Band will be here. FAR OUT, Man! Blew my mind when I heard. Have read y'all's wonderful comments. Great memories. Did see them in concert in Memphis in '70. They had it cranked up that night! 'Bad Time (for Fallin' in Love) and CLOSER TO HOME; one of the top Anti-War songs I tell people that our BOOMER GENERATION are the most blessed; grew up with (A) the most Beautiful LADIES (B) The greatest MUSIC ever made & (C) Coolest CARS EVER! I thank our Good LORD everyday for HIS many blessings; GOOD NEWS!! More to come!!!

to truly give this reunion the EDGE that it would need, it 'should be' MARK, DON, MEL & CRAIG. Now, would Don Brewer let Max, Tim and Bruce go from his "Tribute Band" ? That to me is the biggest question. Don has said that his "Tribute Band" has been together for allot longer than the Original Band. Another question is whether or not Max, Tim and Bruce are under any kind of 'contract' with Don & Mel, to continue performing as "Grand Funk Railroad"? LASTLY, I too, agree that getting into the R&R Hall of Fame would be the KICK IN THE BUTT that the original band could use to get them back together (along with the MONEY that would go along with it)
@RiverDocs2 жыл бұрын
Good points Bill and thanks. Truthfully I think it would all boil down to the money, The ticket prices that Don & Mel and Mark charge aren't very much and the venues aren't that big. No doubt they are making money but if they were to do a comeback tour....They could make that money they make now look like chump change..maybe I'm wrong? But I don't see how it couldn't go big...there has to be some hidden issues here we just can't see. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@RiverDocs Like I said before I seen them last month at a invite only at a casino, was told there were 4.000 people and that was about right. If they got back together I don't see them playing to anymore than 8-10K. I don't even think nostalgia would help to draw any more to a venue.
@RiverDocs2 жыл бұрын
@@bassb450 right but what about ticket prices? What did it cost to get in to see them at the casio if you don't mind me asking? I saw on the webpage most shows were averaging $35 to $100 a ticket. Thanks!
@bassb4502 жыл бұрын
@@RiverDocs Like I said in my reply it was a invite only show for casino members (Mohegan Sun in Connecticut) so no cost to me . It is a 10,000 seat arena and 4,000 people showed up. When I got the notification it said by invite only so I assumed it was a private show for casino members. I then looked on GFR website for their tour dates and that night was not listed so I guess it was truly a private concert.
