I was in TCS for 5 years....Worked in multiple projects as a lead in Cloud Integration but even after 5 years my package was around 6LPA. I requested TCS to increase it but with no success. Then i resigned and they offered me 9LPA. I rejected their offer and now I am working in L&T Infotech for a package of 24LPA

Even I spent 9 years in TCS, but my final salary was 15 Lakhs, as I had done MBA in between. Finally I made a switch to 46 lakh in a well-known product company. Now everything makes sense 😁 Update (after 2 years, Oct 24) - I made 2 more switches in the last 2 years, and now I am making 72 lpa, with 65 fixed in a mid sized system integrator. However, please do not try to replicate my journey. For those looking for better salaries, try to build your expertise in technologies like Databricks and Snowflake.

The worst thing is that when one switches with good hike, again the same person remains at higher risk of getting fired if the market is down or the company suffers. The higher the package the more u r at higher risk of getting laid off first.

I recently resigned from TCS and trust me I was in a confused state whether it's a right decision or wrong.... But now I can tell you it's absolutely correct. Reasons 1) you will get to upgrade your skills which in TCS Is not possible due to worst internal process and managers will never allow you to upgrade your skills. 2) Better pay. At the end of the day it is money which matters. 3) TCS is better for people who don't want to upscale skill, happy with same salary and have family business to take care.

I was fortunate that i got onsite in TCS and witnessed to travel across EU , the salary stuff explained here is true but if you get onsite then you might become a crorepati if you have the skills to sustain the position , people jump tcs being at onsite which makes it even 1 notch higher in terms of experience, so it all boils down to how good you are at selling your skills , TCS will always give the platform to excel at your position. It is not just a company it is a giant ocean containing a lot of fish of various size 😃 😃 😀 😄 . Last but not the least the health insurance provided is above any company standard. Though i am no more in TCS but i have huge amount of respect for this company, maybe my experience was different than others or maybe i was fortunate but i would not recommend a fresher to continue in TCS for more than 2 yrs but i would definitely recommend an experienced guy who might have got an offer with a good package.

@@chitwanhawan3064 If you're from lower middle class background you should try to get into software development at product based companies or startups. Instead of preparing for CAT if you prepare for data structures & algorithms and some web or android development you can easily get 15-25 Lac package in 2-3 years without leaving your job. In case of preparing for cat even if you get into top IIMs you will have loan of 20 lac after 2 years plus lost income of those 2 years. And even there packages are mostly 20-30 lac only. It also depends on your interest. If you like doing coding, you will put more efforts in coding easily. If you like management you will work hard in management. But purely from financial angle MBA should be avoided if you're from low-income family.

When I was in TCS, I was in TCS GGN , 1 floor up was TCS Innovation labs. I even tried getting into that. But then understood that this is not a place to work. Can someone tell me who has a better scope after 8-10 years of relevant experience. A person from IT sector with 10 years of exp who timely switched or an MBA from tier one b school with 8 years of exp? Who has a better career growth and is it just a sham the hype that is created around CAT and the packages? Since you guys are my senior I hope you all will guide me well. Edit- I am from lower middle class background, my father has a monthly salary of 10-15K so what should be better for me based on ROI and my interest which are mostly graphs numbers playing with excel I know I am damn good at analyzing visualization and I love to explore do presentations organize things and things that involve more interaction than just sitting in front of a system. So based on everything if you guys could guide me well it would be of great help!! Thanks!

You gimme a data and ask me to formulate some strategies predict plan that is what I like.... Now I dunno what job suits for that..... Dynamic work and interaction with humans...

So why not early mba considering I am ews roi I have to consider or should I focus more on IIMs? I am sure I can get 98-99 I have enough believe so still grade a colleges or colleges like tiss xlri symbiosis fms mica jbims won't be worth it apart from iims? and my interests as I mentioned apart from service based companies where can I switch as I am in final year and don't have someone to guide tbh It feels so heavy thinking abt it

You are in a fool's paradise if you join TCS to make money. I have been associated with TCS for 3 yrs before I resigned. The organization is good from many prospects but when it comes to salary hike, it is not recommended. Joining as an ITA Or AST in TCS may become a huge mistake for mid level professionals. However, perception varies individually.

The thing with tcs is , you will be at same package for your lifetime (considering 8% inflation rate every year). 3.36 LPA in 2013 is same as 9 LPA in 2022. Think about this once😃.

They are not giving actual value to their employee & there is no rule for that in this company that's why they are taking advantage

These are some great salaries. Very well deserved.. Though packages in my field (physician/ Doctors) even after 7-10 years barely touch 20 LPA in pvt and govt sector alike.. I guess it's about satisfaction within in the end :)

Sir, There’s no point in comparing here. The IT ppl are made to work like labourers with long constant working hours and dirty politics & bureaucracy ruling the juniors and not letting them grow whereas, the employers earn in Dollars billing customers atleast 4x times what we are paid..

@Soumya Mahato PGs make less than 15 LPA in central institutes . Iam a senior resident myself (in a central govt one) so I can speak for myself . MANY a doctor's struggle to make 20 LPA be it pvt or govt after 10 yrs. Theres hordes that I know.. No shame in that ( doing gods work for peanuts ) !

This video is not only meant for IT employees but for their parents & other older people too. Many parents/older people think that if someone who is working for a IT company like TCS and have 8-10 YOE (same company) must be earning like 20-25 LPA but it’s not at all right

That is not how TCS actually works!!! You will be just released from your current project & will stay on bench until new project allocation. If HR sense that you are misusing their policy then might be some action will be taken but again no firing in most cases.
