I did this back in 2010 ...using a 6.5 HP POWERPRO ES/RS ENGINE with starter ... I did not used the aquarium pump...I put several concrete block over a a truck inner tube (similar to this images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/610xYptb1ZL._AC_SL1192_.jpg ) that was holding the gas produced from cow manure .... The weight over the inner tube provided about 6 inches or more of gas pressure at the inlet of the carburetor...if you don't do that , the engine stop...for lack of fuel. I'm glad somebody did even better with the aquarium pump...!!!! I though for few minutes to put the aquarium pump in an external battery powered circuit...but then...better the way you have it...if the engine stop...so the pump!!!...No gas leaking...I might add as well...a shutoff valve...if the engine stop...the valve will close as well!!! Excellent Job!!! I have few videos of what we did back then...!!!

love your passion for energy, youre an inspiration to me over here in Nigeria. u didnt use a carburetor kit here? why?

He says in another video he purchased a multi fuel upgrade. A Carburetor would be great for biogas only.

Thomas are you going to make more videos. I'm in new York state starting out with my new biogas setup. need to learn how to keep the tank warm through our cold winters.

Could you make another video with the aquarium pump plugged into the wall? Then start the generator purely from biogas and skip the gasoline?

how do you connect you aquarium pump to biogas pipe.

so that big bag only last 20 minutes? im very interested in bio gas, but that does not seem practical

Mike Rivera JR from what I'm gathering in my 30 minutes of research, the bags or inner tubes or whatever you use is a fast, easy and cheap way of storage, but I would look into compressing it. Like say in an old propane tank. ..

i think if you put some pressure on that balloon it would start fine with just biogas.
@jonmitchell90194 жыл бұрын
I agree. Or you can have a manual pump to pump gas in it like pumps a couple of pumps of gas in it.

Before the motor has warmed up a bit it might have problems with the water vapour that's present in the gas, he was saying.

For a second I thought this might have been intended as a serious demonstration. Then I saw it was in the comedy category. Explains a lot but probably needs a disclaimer to stop people taking it seriously. The fiction category would also be appropriate.

This is more like a satire comedy than a demonstration! Idiotic not to just turn the fuel off and then wait for the engine to cough then turn on the gas rather than having it running so rich and choking itself till the petrol runs out of the carb. Given the short running times, one would be far better to collect 1000L of veg oil in an IBC and run a diesel generator on that. You could run for hundreds of hours on that much fuel and save the gas for cooking. There is also a misleading statement in you saying if you have "feedstock" you have gas. Only in summer in most parts of the world. If the ambient temps are below about 20oC, you are not going to get any gas to speak of. I would suggest outages are going to be more common in winter particularly where it snows so biogas will be non existent then. Anything under 30oC and the gas production will fall off significantly anyway. I have a digester, I know. I also have significant doubts how this generator would handle a real load without some sort of gas regulation. The engine is going to require a heap more gas at 4 Kw load than it will running a tiny little lamp and there is no provision for that in the system . At best it might run but would be very lean and probably burn a hole in the piston in short order. Sorry but this is nothing more than poorly thought out amateur hour here.
