I dont know if you wanted to take a look inside your diff or what was the purpose of taking the car apart, i guess you had to look if the pressure plates are still good or you need to redo the whole diff. When you only want to swap the screw for the new one it is enough to unhook both wheel hubs, fold the axles away and remove dogbones, then you can remove the old screw and insert the new one from the outside. No need to open the gear box. Thats all in all take off the rear wheels (remove the 2 wheel nuts) , take off the 2 retaining screws and then a little fiddling taking away the dobones and the foam pieces. Not to bad for tensioning the diff. Good to know the alloy nut fixes the slipping diff problem, ill be getting one for mine !

Nice motor/ esc combo. Be nice to see how it goes. I was lucky I jumped on the upgrades early before they all sold out. It’s a shame Tamiya didn’t include front universals and the Diff nuts.

Smart choice! Wish I had done the same! 👊

Yes they really fumbled with the diff nuts there, but i also think they could have made much more solid servo mounts with just two extra screws through the side of the chassis.

Very helpful video!!! I may have to go to the tazer 3000 motor. I am waiting till I get the build to the motor stage to make a decision. I wanted a sonic motor 13.5 with the alum diffs.
@poorboysrc3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting, Leonard! Keep in mind a 13.5 motor may need an esc with big cooling fins, which will not fit in the TD4 chassis. One major drawback of this chassis is just how tight everything is. 👊

When I first saw your video I assumed you were going to use two motors one on front and one on rear. Oh well just wishful thinking. But why not try it and by removing the centre drive shaft also makes a little bit more space plus fitting a higher mAh rated battery I'm confident it can be made to work. And would probably require a 3 or 4 channel radio and receiver. Would certainly be unique. And also cut down on a lot of resistance from front and rear differentials being linked by centre drive shaft. You should try it. Merry Christmas also to you and your family and friends in America from Joe in Melbourne Australia.

Hi. Great vids, thank you very much. I have a question being a newbie with this only being my second build. I've bought the rocker arm hop up and I can't sit part C4 over MD7 as described on page 12 section 21. The stock parts don't fit flush either. I'm clearly missing something here and would appreciate your help. Cheers
@poorboysrc2 жыл бұрын
I just took a look at the manual, C4 just sits over top of MD7 then a screw (MA8) goes through C4 and screws into MD7. C4 is really kind of a washer/dust cap for the bearing that rides on MD7. -- Hope that helps! 👊

That motor ESC all in one looks interesting, though I personally would not use this because if say the ESC part fails then you have to buy another set again, were as a conventual set up you would only need to replace one of the components, either ESC or the motor.

Hi Phil, I've only recently found your channel and subbed since Nov of 2021. Been waiting for you to upload vids but never popped up on my recommendations, such a shame that YT dont expose you as much as the bigger channels. I thought you have stopped making vids for a bit but, nope. Looks like I have some catching up to do.
@poorboysrc3 жыл бұрын
Hi hendrahendra, thanks for subbing and watching my channel, I appreciate the feedback and support! Yeah the YT algorithm is a tough nut to crack, many of us content creators wonder how some channels get so much exposure and others don't. It's a puzzle I have yet to solve. But I'll be making videos for a long time, I'm not going away any time soon! I've invested a lot of $$$ into this and I'm certain this channel will continue to grow. Thanks for the support and stay tuned for another video in the TD4 series, set to air tomorrow at midnight, PST. 🤙

Ok with that same motor I’m having a hard time fitting in. The motor fits short and the wire don’t reach the opening. Am I missing something? You said it fits perfect…

I’m sorry I should’ve explained it better, when screwed to the blue motor mount plate, the motor doesn’t seem to be long enough to where the wires would fit through that opening…I hope this explanation is better…I hope this is not too much to ask, but would you be able to take a picture of how you have the motor mounted?

Oh dear! this new Tamiya TD4 is becoming a money pit, don't understand why Tamiya have gone to all the time -money and effort to produce a new chassis, then put weak plastic diff parts in there, not to mention other problems people are reporting, so straight out of the box this kit is very limited in what power you can run through it, I have a 30 year old Manta ray with a decent 4370kv motor running on a 3s lipo, no ball diffs just all standard and guess what? NOTHING HAS BROKEN! in the gearbox.
