Quite exactly our experience with a Midland G9 Pro. Range about 2 km in a bit hilly terrain with forrest and village. A bit difference with better antennas on Baofeng UV-5R or GT-3TP or a Quancheng UV-K5 wit Nagoya NA771 (even the fake ones). Much better Call quality at 3...5 km distance in same area. TX Power about 2 W (low). I have to get a NanoVNA to maeasure the antenna, i guess they are far from perfect for both bands. On UHV the distance was better than on VHF, probably due to antenna. You can get the chinese radios for 20 bucks! 🙂

The Motorola's seem to be clearer with their mic quality. Seems to really out perform the retevis even though signals are identical mororola punches through......its the same with my older model xtnid mic qualities are better.....really impressed with the little t.80s performance......yes well done test was really good thank you for the time and effort you put into producing this me already having Motorola's guessed the outcome before I even watched you're video ......

The XT420 is brash and bold and this is just great when signals start to drop...though the mic level can be adjusted in software unlike the other two so maybe the test is unfair. The RT24 fades to nothing and sounds weak. The T80 sounds superb. It's clear and crisp. I did a specific audio test of these 3 but I haven't edited it yet :-). Not sure I need to now as this video demonstrates it well.

It's such a beautifully made radio (shown here kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYeWmH5ripJ0m5I ). There's something I love about a really well-made tool to just do a job. No frills, just what you need for an everyday user. I got mine from www.2wayradioshop.co.uk/ for something like £85 (I'm not associated with the company but they provided good advice and service). You'll need a CPS cable to do any re-programming though. I'm sure you know all this but just for the benefit of others really.

I have 4 RT24 and seriously, for the price. It's cheap and you have a professional look PMR , the battery , i have let the radio without comunicate, you canlet him approximatively two days, it's very long. with low to normal usage it take 1, 1.5 days . for the power. i think like you that is the antenna make a difference. i have put on the RT24 a better antenna (High Gain antenna from my Wouxun) and i get a better range and better quality. (normally boost your RT24 with better antenna & pass to 0.5 to 2w is not legal but i dont think you will get spotted, police & other gov branch have other thing to do that looking on PMR frequency XD) In a flat way (i have a lake near my home) it make a flat distance and i can communicate with RT24 at 8.2 KM . Retevis have make a test on his youtube page. at full power it goes more than 10Km on flat distance. On city, i think only powerfull radios can go far (or with two high location) I have tested cheap PRM buy on local store VS the RT24 on 0.5w & stock antenna, it goes more far than cheap PMR (and the worst thing is the Local store cheap PMR cost most than the RT24 XD) For me, Retevis is the best cheap radios brand for Price/quality you have.

@tdcattech3 жыл бұрын
No, I've never used them but if they're anything like the T80, they'll do great. The range of all these radios is virtually identical but the audio of the T80 is spectacular. The T82 has 2 big advantages over the old T80 though. Firstly, they use AA batteries, and secondly, you can charge these using USB. Much better than the AAA in the T80. If anyone reads this and feels like supporting the channel, check out the Motorola T82 walkie-talkies here --- geni.us/motot82

We just got some new Motorola radios, at work, cant remember exact model its either the T60/T60Z or T61 we are trying to get the strongest signal without interference, I was wondering, are the main channels the stronger signal, by that I mean for instance being on channel 5 as appose to being on channel 5.1 or does it not make any difference ?
@tdcattech5 жыл бұрын
These are sometimes referred to as 'sub-channels' but they are not different channels at all. The power, performance and frequency is identical to the main channel. The second number denotes something called the CTCSS or DCS code which is a tone or code that is sent with your transmission. If you set all your radios to the same CTCSS value, they will only open their squelch when they receive that tone with a transmission. It's just a privacy measure but does not provide any security. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continuous_Tone-Coded_Squelch_System

Interesting, but they should be tested like Retevis to Retevis. Tranceiver quality is depending on both transmitter and receiver quality, and speaker sound quality, but that said, from what I heard the Motorola XT450/T80 was clearly superior to the RT24, but since their receivers was not tested, this test is half baked :)
