My science teacher "taught" this earlier today to us. Brought back a sheet of homework and didn't know any of it. Thank you for teaching me this way better than my actual teacher who doesn't actually teach.

@bvlgary09 thanks for the kind comment! you ask a good question. YES, the pressure must be constant to use this formula. if you need to vary the volume, temperature AND pressure, you can use the combined gas law, with is (P1*V1)/T1 = (P2*V2)/T2

Wow so much help!! I have a big test tomorrow and needed a refresh on what to do. What I've done was pause the video when you put the question up and solve it then see if I did it correctly so far I have looked up Boyle's Law, Gay-Lussac's Law, and I'm now on this one. Thank you so much for what you do, it's a big help!

I do appreciate ur educational videos. Whenever I am struggling with my science subject, I immediately go into your utube channel and watch your lectures. You're really good and decent in the way you interpret your discussions. You're so smart and I love the way how you solve some science problems especially physics and chemistry. @shaheen1990 808.15 has FIVE digits, but you need to round the answer to THREE digits, so you round to 808. to learn more about how to round, watch my videos on significant figures.

great question. PV=k and V=kT are the fancy scientific ways to explain boyles and charles laws. no one ever actually uses them when they're doing problems. the textbook puts them in there to sound smart and scientific, but really, when you're solving problems, you'll only need to know the versions of the laws that i discuss here.

@ILYMAUSAM you're very welcome! but i didn't dumb it down--i explained the whole concept, so if it makes sense now, you're totally set. if it didn't make sense before, it's not because you're dumb and you had to have it dumbed down, it's probably because it wasn't explained clearly the first time.

@Be1smaht if the pressure isn't constant, the volume could be changing, even if the temperature isn't! so if we have a balloon, we could shrink it by raising the pressure around it--put it in a pressure chamber and squeeze those gas particles together. now charles' law says that if there's a change in volume, we can figure how much the temp changed. BUT, if the pressure isn't constant, it could change the volume and TRICK us into thinking the temp changed instead.

i don't know what you mean. how to get the T2? you mean how to solve for the T2? you'd rearrange the equation to get T2 = (V2 x T1)/V1
