This is an awesome expansion. Well done FFG! I already liked the base game but exploration and individual abilities for each Civ are so important for this type of game. The only minor grievance I have with it is the small number of armies. It makes the scope of the game smaller than it was before. Oh, and the box itself is trash.

That is one thing I didn't mention - the box if pretty flimsy. But fortunately you can fit everything in the core game box.

Agreed with your opinion. Overall the game with the expansion is okay, a forgettable experience in a sea crowded with other attractive competitors. But this expansion, pushes it so far above that it is now actually a contender for best Civ-style game in my book.

I always like variety and many options. A bigger action line, more resources, more land hexes, etc AN atack cant pass throught reforced cultural tokens (great rule change)

I gotta play each more times before I could tell you that. I will say I like the new CoC better that Civ without the expansion, but with the expansion… it’s still a coin toss.

I'm waiting to see what the new Clash of Cultures game looks like. I never played it with the expansion and as I understand it the new version has the expansion built into it. So at this point I don't think it's a fair comparison.

Did the expansion address the fact that its a race to airplanes and then the game is over? Our complaint is that even with the victory conditions, domination becomes the focus

I owned Mage Knight for years but never got it to the table. I did play the Star Trek version, however.

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer never played New Dawn but the map reminded me of Mage Knight. I was so scared of the difficulty and it was not that difficult at all. It took me way more to learn Combat Commander than Mage Knight.
