This is my game of the year so far. I've played it probably 30 times now, and I'm still finding new strategies and moves to try. Highly, highly, recommended.

Hey! I used to work with you at Hale Theater. Thanks for the video.

I'd be reluctant to call what I did there "work." Great to hear from you, Shawn!

If I am not mistaken, it is the opposing player that gets to place the peace commissioner. The first player to break that tension zone gets the extra cubes but the opponent places the commissioner.

I believe you are correct.

I'm a tad surprised that you didn't mention any comparison to '13 Days'. The two games are very similar, except '13 Days' is about the Cuban missile crisis (for those who don't know). You did comment that FS is sort of a mini version of 'Twilight Struggle', and I agree. But in actuality, '13 Days' is much closer to being the "mini version" of 'Twilight Struggle'. And I've heard in another KZbin review, that Mark Herman commented that he drew his inspiration for 'Fort Sumter' from his plays of '13 Days'. FWIW.

Very interesting. I hadn't heard that about Herman.

Actually what I said was that I was inspired to do a small CDG ala For The People whereas 13 Days is a derivative of Twilight Struggle.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, thanks for the clarification. I was remiss in not stating that my info (about the inspiration) was 2nd hand, taken from another KZbinr. I'll fix that. I should just go back and delete it, but then these replies will lose their context.

Its fine, but in this day and age if you do not fix stuff fast it becomes 'fact'. Fort Sumter uses the We The People/For The People area control and CDG mechanics that were brilliantly reprised in Twilight Struggle. I like 13 Days, but its a smaller version of Twilight Struggle that uses its Nuclear Track in a very clever way. When I saw 13 Days I was inspired to use my system in a smaller format as I did once before with Stonewall via Berg's Terrible Swift Sword. FWIW.

Love the closing sketch, you couldn't even pay good money to get an actor to do such a convincing self-satisfied face after you binned Imperial Assault, haha. Look forward to the next vid as per.

Happy Pioneer Day from the folks in Utah! Nice review. Didn’t you wear that same shirt in your previous review? Goes well with the hat, I must say.

Mark- I usually record multiple reviews on the same day, so yup, it's the same shirt! Happy Pioneer Day to you!!!

Wait, wait,wait... How come You didn't play COIN game. Wasn't Cuba Libre on your 2016 Top 100?
@TheDiscriminatingGamer6 жыл бұрын
It was not. Truth be told I've been a little intimidated to try a COIN game. Maybe one day.
@bgm-19616 жыл бұрын
The Discriminating Gamer Well when you do, I think YOU will enjoy 'Liberty or Death: The American Insurrection' the most. Given many of the games in your collection, the COIN games are NOT any more complex. They're only complex when playing solo against the AI 'bots.

Looking forward to checking one out. Thanks!

COIN games take a week to learn

Do the review, don’t do campy jokes like the “other” boardgame channels, you’re above that. Also your intro is 2 minutes too long

No am I not. Have you ever watched the show before?
