I used to play a game called Guadalcanal (obviously based on this campaign in history) on my old zx spectrum +2. Was a surprisingly good wee strategy game. The US usually won just by hunkering down and protecting Henderson field. The Japanese were on a hiding to nothing from the start and really had to try their damndest to sink the US fleet . Actual land combat always went against them due to their susceptibility to malaria and lack of medical supplies. Memory blast from 30 odd years past!

I was wondering how similar Guadalcanal Solitaire and Archie's War were ... and now I know! Thanks!

I like this game a lot, even this work book version; so I can't wait to play the others you mentioned.

Hi Cody! I've been watching your channel for years now, and we've communicated this way a few times. I like your presentation overall. You also come across as affable. I have noticed something I find strange though. In all the reviews I've seen, you either give a recommendation of "buy it", or "try it before you buy it". Not once have I heard you say, "don't buy it", or "don't even bother trying it", or something along those lines. I can't believe you have never come across a game you didn't like. So, I have a couple questions for you. These are real questions; I'm not asking to stir up trouble. What is the reason you don't give negative reviews? Secondly, are you ever concerned that by never giving a negative review, your legitimacy as a reviewer might be called into question, by some? Again, I enjoy your content. I'm just curious about the thinking behind giving positive, and sort of neutral reviews, but never negative ones. On the other hand, maybe I've just missed them all... Thanks!

Hello, sir. I have given many “cannot recommend” recommendations at the end of my videos, although admittedly they are in the minority. Many times i am sent games or buy games that I think I’ll have some interest in on some level, and so I often connect with them on some level. I also want to be careful to make the distinction between games that are genuinely bad games and games that just aren’t for me. Many times I don’t personally like a game but I can see how someone would - I have many friends with many tastes. I’m generally not a heavy euro game guy, but I have many friends who are. Anyway, hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

You complain that this is about the same game as Archie's War, however, this is also half the price as AW. Would you say it's half as fun or that for the price point it's a good comprimise?

Good point. Probably compromise.
