It's been long overdue for a TDubsKid show but here it is! I answer your guys' questions and T-Rex rolls up in the new vehicle. I open all the mail you guys sent me in the last year and also put together an edit of my aerial footage from the last year. Thank you so much for all the support. I hope each and every one of you have a great new year.

Make yourself a solar heated air pressurized hot water tank out of black PVC pipe. Simple. Sits on the roof. Can be pressurized with a bicycle pump. Easy diy. Looking forward to the build series of the van

@@TDubsKid I've seen different varieties on the tube but a simple and very effective design. Simply the black PVC gets heated by the sun then install a valve stem from car you pressurize it with a bicycle pump or 12v tire pump. Then attach a simple spicket for a garden hose. You mount it to your roof. You can make them as big or small as needed. Perfect for showers or anytime you need hot water

You absolutely should coordinate an event in Colorado. Pattern it after a bike rally. Schedule rides that people can go on at different times, some on trails, some like poker runs. I'm sure you would have enough volunteers from your subscribers. Are you near Colorado Springs? Where is you? 🤠

On those Giant Loop roll top bags, you'll want the Coyote, maybe the Great Basin, but that one's pretty big. I have a coyote bag, a Rogue bag, and a Diablo tank bag along with one of their 2 galloon fuel bags. It's perfect! And those are GREAT drone shots! It's too bad I live over 800 miles away; love to teach you how to cast a fly rod for trout (I guided for several years for Project Healing Waters). Fly rods take up less room and are lighter than spinning gear. The ultimate fly rod is a Tenkara however. You can't even tell you have one in your pack!

My wife & I have owned 5 Econoline vans E150's & E250's over the last 10 yrs and have built out each one for camping and work.We have absolutely enjoyed each one and miss having one now. We have also owned 6 TW200's and have a 2003 TW now but we have never owned both at the same time, so we are quite jealous in a good way! I had a Chevy Express 3500, and being short was definitely a benefit for being able to sleep sideways in it. I miss that thing, but the maintenance costs were very high. It needed tires, and they're not cheap at all. I got an old clothing display table [looked like a big coffee table] and used it as my sleeping platform, with the storage space underneath. I created a bulkhead sort of thing behind it, so only the cab and bed area would need to be heated. Trying to heat the whole van was pretty difficult, but I also didn't insulate the van at all. It'll be a sweet adventure rig for you.
@TDubsKid
@TDubsKid 3 жыл бұрын
oh nice! those are cool vans. indeed haha. yeah I could imagine. I can save a lot of money because i'm a mechanic and have access to a lot of shop equipment. that works haha. yeah, insulation is key. I used a big space heater while doing the spark plugs and could only warm the cab area up slightly. a diesel heater is the best way to go. got a whole kit and will be customizing an aluminum spun tank that goes underneath and the fill port is on the rear bumper. for sure. can't wait to get the inside going

live most of the time in a similar van, got a hitch carrier on the back. besides my work contracts which is a necessity, not a bad way to live lol. if you see this, you'll wanna limo tint or whatever the darkest is, not just fifteen percent. maybe even consider blacking out the driver side. in that way it's almost impossible to see in unless there's more light inside than outside. also, my favorite thing is how my entire passenger side is windows. i can park to have a view all the time. yeah i can go outside but the view from within is really rad to have. just something to keep in mind since you're considering high cabinets that'll obstruct those rear driver side windows.
@TDubsKid
@TDubsKid 3 жыл бұрын
Nice! Seems like a great way to live, would be great if you have a traveling job. Yeah I may go 5 percent on the rear windows and 15 for driving windows. Good advice, ill probably have some of the windows viewable. But want some of them covered for insulation reasons

You’ll probably find that the open differential is a problem. Mine will get stuck in any slick spot. A Torsen differential will help a lot! I’m running Eaton TruTrac torsens in my Tacoma, and they are amazing. Shouldn’t cost you too much, and it’ll keep those rears spinning.

For the first question about the carb. stock Tdub is set a bit lean from the factory so its unlikely your running rich unless your above 8000+ ft altitude. The most likely thing that will cause the engine to bog at the lower revs is a clogged pilot circuit, This is a problem that I personally had. Simply cleaning out the carb wasn't enough to fix it as I likely had some debris in the fuel tank so I had to add a in line fuel filter as well as cleaning the carb.

Did you go with wool insulation for mold protection? I'd still be concerned about the wood in front of it over time if any moisture collects from any air gaps from the outside.

just much healthier vs glass fiber type stuff since there will be so much vibration and movement. we don't have that problem in Colorado. such a dry Climate. also the Diesel heater puts out nice dry heat unlike propane which causes the intense condensation.

Having been traveling in a trailer for a while, try to make as much as you can run off of 12v. Inverters tend to eat up power.

Hello again from western Canada. I’ve mentioned I’m 70 in the past and my life has been similar to yours and still going. I built a custom van as well when first married. It was the first thing we got to get us off he ground and out of a tent. But still camped in a tent as well when pulling a small trailer behind a bike. So a suggestion on your van project. What do you think about a colour scheme to compliment your TW?
