The Albano lake, the cleanest waters in Italy?.. nah. I've lived there from 1978 to 2005 and the 'divieto di balneazione' signs (No swimming allowed) were up all year long just to miraculously disappear in early summer so that the municipality could cash in on metered parking. Like many other italian bodies of water, this Lake has been plagued with high levels of E.coli for decades.
