I appreciate you letting the younger viewers know that coming out should also be coupled with financial stability. I focused on the same thing when I came out to my mother. My father took it well from the start while I was in college. My mother on the other hand did not and I am so glad I waited. I would have been on the streets for sure. That of course is my experience as a person of color with very strict parents. It's about knowing your parents stance and reading the room.

I guess it’s different on how I viewed the question. I thought it was mainly for hookup, mainly to please sexual needs whether if you just want a threesome or to hookup with someone else, but I guess there are some people viewing it as another person they’re dating? I always saw open relationships as NSA with whomever outside of the primary one.

I agree with you on the coming out part, being financially stable is a safety net in case things don’t go as planned with your parents/family. I also agree with your views on open relationships. While it may work for some, it’s not for me either. Everyone has their thing and we shouldn’t be so judgmental about it. Okay to have opinions about the topic though. Relationships are different for everybody and not only romantic ones, personally sometimes I like to hang around with more than just one friend bc of the balance of energy, example: going hiking for the company. I didn't know I could love you any more! I can see the mountains on the way to my grocery store here in Calgary, and every week I think "wow, we should go hiking" and every summer we maybe go once😅 And I feel you about finances and homes and getting/giving help. When I was a teenager staring down university costs I was so bitter and jaded about peers who had financial help from family, but now that I've been able to actually think about what I want and need I'm so grateful that I'm even in a position to live the way I do. ❤

Thanks for sharing Joe, I fully agree with you, come out when you feel that you are ready and have the possibility to be financially independent. Personally, I have an incredible family, but I know they tend to be religious, so if I had come out to them when i was a teen, things would have been differently for me!!! and believe me, if you (whoever is reading this) dont feel like coming out to anybody, then don't!!! It's your own journey. Think of yourself and your own happiness first ❤

Thanks for sharing your views, you're right about how some people spend more or less on health and wellness. I really find that as I got older, my priorities changes and also my responsibilities got bigger and bigger that sometimes I really find it challenging to balance my life. I use to be an assistant manager at a fitness centre. Then I became a nurse and eventually climb up the ladder and took on a leadership role. About coming out... I came out to my dad and told him Im moving in with my partner during the pandemic and didnt take it very well. We are slowly building our relationship back again but it's just a matter of time. I'm needing personal training... it's such a struggle for me, i use to be so fit. I need a fitness/life coach.

I would add that if you come out when you still with you were not Gay, your family will pick up on that negative vibe. It's important to get to a place where you are comfortable with being Gay. If you can celebrate yourself, and feel good about life, that energy will flow into the "news." Also, after you do, it's important to invite your parents to come visit you, your life, meet your friends and understand that you are happy, that you have people who care about you. I did that with my mother (my father could not participate), she even rode with me in the Los Angeles Gay Pride parade. She fell in love with Gay men, and it changed her life (for the better). Not all parents are as thoughtful, but make the offer anyway. And yes, financial stability, not being dependent on your family to survive is essential.

My Response to Joe talking about what he likes best about Ryan, meant in all respect, tongue in cheek, not as cringy shipping. Ryan and. Joe. Joe is probably a typical Slytherin, ambitious, focused on personal goals. He's in the Dungeons very proudly taking care of his houseplants, a cute Slytherin, who ignores the plans for world domination, instead recommending better self care and life balance to his dormmates, passive aggressively and with some slight condescension. While Ryan is probably your typical Hufflepuff, out playing Quidditch, then coming into the Kitchens and getting down and gossiping with the House Elves while helping to make dinner for everyone, towering over them but completely at home laughing and chatting. Doesn't eat upstairs with the other students because there is too many people. One day Hagrid asks them to take care of a lost puppy that they name Jasper. They fall in love. Opposites attract. Boom. Fanfiction done.

I think calling out racism as much as possible is important. So many folks live in their bubble. You even mentioned it here, saying Ryan doesn’t see the same shiddy comments that you do. And as for attractiveness. People need to think about what indoctrination they were and are being fed when it comes to beauty standards and colorism. Yes we all have a preference, but at least acknowledge it’s not “natural” and someone benefits from the perpetuation of Eurocentric beauty standards.

I didn't have an official coming out either. I took the same approach with just introducing my friends and family to my boyfriend in a FYI kind of way. I feel like the whole hassle of sitting everybody down and explaining to everyone my sexual preferences wasn't for me, so I just skipped that part. Nobody ever should be forced to have a "Coming Out" party or discussion! Do straight people ever do that? I'm sick of much of what the meaning of LGBTQ has turned in to! Yes, we should all treat each other kindly and with respect-that is a given! I myself am gay Christian and a minority-mixed Asian. My sexuality does not define who I am at all! I live life the best that I can and just happen to be attracted to the same sex! The LGBTQ community also has a lot of problems within itself! Not only is there a lot of racism, there is also now a strong tension and division between liberal and conservative gays. I also cannot stand the word "queer"! I actually hate it as much as the word "faggot" or "dyke"! In one big way, we really should stop focusing on diversity but start to celebrate what we all have in common.
