Join Mbuyiselo Botha and Nkosi Gola, Director of Urban African Solidarity, Black Church & Black Theology Engagement as they explore the relationship between peace and justice and how we are responsible for striving for both.
A 5-year-old boy was killed in the last couple of months, another incident of senseless violence has enraged us. There are so many senseless acts in our communities and it's hard to agree on what justice would be in these cases.
Peace often involves finding common ground, compromise, and resolution. It seeks to minimize conflict and promote harmony. In contrast, justice demands accountability for wrongdoing, requiring us to address past injustices and ensure consequences. However, the tension that arises when pursuing peace might mean overlooking or forgiving injustices. Striking the right balance between these ideals is essential for a just and peaceful society. We explore the intersection of peace and justice, shining a light on our responsibility as a society to strive for both.
