Beautiful! I kind of translate it to this = Give loving space to all the dark inside but not necessarily obey to all demands or not believe all what is being said from the dark and critical voices.. ❤️

Great video, and beautiful hair! I'm leaving mine natural after years of straightening it but it's like a wild nest ! 😅

It depends on how rested and stable I feel to handle Mara. It’s gotten a lot easier. It’s been one holy hell of a ride 😀🌧️🌈🌞

I'll maybe sit down at the weekend, but I think you have a point in that viewing of the inner self is maybe more critical than it needs to be. 've never thought of befriending the inner critic.

Thank you so much for sharing this story. I wasn't familiar with it, but my counsellor and I had named my doubting and self-sabotaging self "Mara". I have just started to learn how to sit with her and this video came at the best time.

Mara comes to me in the forms of 'negative/harmful/hurtful thoughts & inner voices'... also in 'fear and insecurity'. I've tried to 'suppress' them. I've tried 'just listening' to them. I guess I got so tired that I started believing the neg. thoughts and I ended up letting them (Mara) be in charge for yeeeeeears. How do I feel about them? I think I went through an 'angry at myself, and disappointed, for letting it get the better of me' phase... Now, to look back at -that- anger & the disappointment, I can see how even the anger and disappointment with myself over allowing it to be so prevalent in my life... was just another version of "Mara". How do you sit with Mara, just 'observing the thoughts and feelings' that those thoughts provoke? How to you allow those 'things' to just -be- there, without them to sink into you? Wow... lots to think about today. I don't know why I bother talking to my therapist- you've done more for my thought process (& my own Mara) than she ever has LOL. Thank you for this today Cole. Once again, perfect timing! One day I'll have saved up enough money to go to one of your retreats and actually get to spend time with you. Woohooo! Goals! -Your friend, Kris

Mara is so much softer than the name I had for my inner critic -'fuck face' 🤣 which indicated I was angry with her. So she came in for tea and we talked to eachother with compassion and it made it so much gentler for me. Suksma Cole

Maybe you've heard of this book, Tea and Cake with Demons: A Buddhist Guide to Feeling Worthy By Adreanna Limbach. Its a good read and applicable here. I've commented before but you have no idea Cole, how your words and practice have changed my life! Been following you since 2017. When I say thank, you at the end of a practice, I am thanking you!❤ THANK YOU!
