Yes, good ideas, thanks for the tips, relays do cause problems I know so that will be the first thing I will have to check when I open it back up again and play around with it...thanks!

Yea, that is the stabilization in the KZbin editing, the video was kind of shaky so I thought I would try using that in the editing, makes it kind of weird like that but it still looked better that being as shaky as it was before that, so that is what it is you are noticing I think. Yea, I really like the radio, been working just fine here so it is a good one to have in the shack here.

Looks like you got lucky with yet another good radio. Sounds crystal clear and hopefully it performs just as well also. Can't wait to see what else comes up in your collection as it continues to grow. Kudos to you for keeping the airwaves alive.

NICE radio.I'd love to have one in my Base CB Radio collection.
@1OFGODSOWN7 жыл бұрын
Well a friend gave me one & it works but some screwdriver jackass put added channels on every switch in it & the face is very rough.I tested it on the meter & frequency counter & it gets out well but I found it strange that they put all of those useless channels in it & they did NOT unlock the clarifier so go figure. Maybe I can find a non working model & swap the cases out.Then get all of the mods Undone.

I love these old CB rigs!! I have a collection and im always adding to it. Im a ham as well and i get flack from the older ops because i own CB radios but they know what they can do and where they can go!!
@262NagantRadios13 жыл бұрын
@RadioHamGuy It's the same with me. I couldn't afford the higher end rigs when I started either. Your Stalker 202 was what I would consider an upper end and fairly expensive radio back in the late 70's. The Uniden 858 SSB rigs are excellent SSB performers. Most, if not all of them, have a audio compressor built in. Not something common with 11 meter CB radios. I rate the receivers very good plus on them as well and have grown very fond of these old 858 Uniden rigs. Congrats & enjoy that fine rig

@Ltscw Yes, seems like I got lucky with this radio, it really seems to work very well so far and seems just like a brand new radio, I have had it running tonight in the shack and it even has that new radio smell like CB's used to smell when powered up for a while from the components. Kind of brings back some memories. I think this will be the main CB for a while here in the shack.

@262NagantRadios Thank you very much for the great info, I was hoping someone would fill me in a little more on this radio. Very interesting to know. It is in great shape and I am putting it to use in the shack here now. Really brings back some great memories from the CB boom days, I wish I could have owned a radio like this at the time but I had to stick with the lower cost stuff back then for the most part. But making up for lost time now I guess, lol.

Beautiful 202. Hard to find them that nice anymore and with working meters. Since it's a Uniden 858 PLL unit it's a late 1970's, likely 1977 - 1978. Uniden moved manufacturing to Taiwan around 1979 or so and began producing the MB8719 PLL radios such as the Cobra 2000GTL, 142GTL, Madison (late model)......... and many others.

@RadioHamGuy13 жыл бұрын
@fordbroncodave yes, have made a few on each of them, seem to work fine so far. I do have a triband beam that works on 11 meters but it is horizontal, good for skip but most of the local ground wave is vert so probably won't work too well for ground wave, I do have a 1/4 wave vert on the side of the tower also. I can hit some of the repeaters up there if conditions are up a little, have a diamond x500 at 60 ft here. I will listen up more on 11m evenings just in case I hear something also..

you could say that, it does pretty much the same thing to make the speech intelligible..you tune it one way or another until the voice sounds normal when using the SSB or single side band mode.

Does seem to be a great radio, I really like it although I noticed a TX problem that I need to fix, after I TX for a while, it drops out on me. RX is fine. I plan on keeping it for some time though. Might be nice to mod it for 10 meters sometime but not sure yet.

I have the same exact radio. I was wondering, do you know what the transmit range is in miles? I'm interested in buying a linear to hook up to it to increase my wattage. But I'm having trouble finding information. I guess since cellular telephones came about, the CB radio community has diminished. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm there's something a bit odd about how your camera captures movement. There's a bit of lag that makes the perspectives on things look and move wierdly. Very nice radio! Wish I had one of those.

I have one of these that I can't get to transmit. Receives perfect. Any suggestions??
@RadioHamGuy10 жыл бұрын
I had a problem with mine where it wouldn't transmit all the time, but would once in a while. I found it to be a bad tantalum capacitor on the board. They are small shiny capacitors with a marking on one side, they are polarity sensitive marked with a band on one side. They are small and kind of look like the shape of a hot air balloon and many times orange or green in color but not always. I could tell mine was bad because it went up in smoke and you could see the discoloration. Just an idea for you to look for though I guess.
