These videos are super helpful! I’m turning down new students constantly because I’ve maxed out my schedule with 1 on 1 lessons. Another layer of complication is that I currently drive to my student’s homes. I’d really like to rent a house/studio and do group lessons there.. 🤔

Definitely something to look into--you could also squeeze in more private students if they come to you! I've had a few different setups over the years including renting a studio space. There are advantages to having a dedicated studio space. But, in the end, I ended up renting a house that serves as my home/studio. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hi there! Because they are starting at an older age (making sharing one piano difficult) and this your first teaching experience, I would have them take one-on-one lesson with you. You could, however, have a joint theory time where they work on the same theory page together! Or you could explain a new theory concept (such as a new note, slurs vs ties, new scale, etc) to both of them at the top of the lesson time, then give them a worksheet to complete while the other is having their lesson, then switch. Down the road they might enjoy trying a duet as well. So perhaps a hybrid private lesson experience could be most successful! Hope that helps. Good luck! 🩵
