I love this idea. Most of my life I learned how to play a game by someone in the group just reading the rule book to us while we are punching tokens. It was often a slog. I love that this series can draw attention to how you teach a game. Even if I’m not teaching Shadows over Camelot, just hearing how you break up the rules and your reasoning can be useful for us in how we teach a different game.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Yea a lot of the core things I say here, I transfer over to many other games. I'm glad it can be helpful for others!

I like this idea, or teaching how to teach. I've often struggled with how I should approach explaining rules and contemplated a lot on the order of teaching them. More often than not, rule books are terribly organized, requiring having to digest and retool them somewhat before presenting a game to new people.

I absolutely love this series so much! Got to be honest as well, I love the aquarium in the background. It really sets the whole mood when you're talking about medieval theme imo . You explain these games in such entertaining manners that I immediately want to play them lol. Shadows over Camelot has always been a favorite of mine, especially with a decent crowd of folks so it was really cool to see it on this channel being talked about. Keep these videos coming because i am hooked!!

I found one at a friendly local game store. They were selling off their in-store copy; I got lucky and saw it online on a day off of work.

This is a game I loved when it first came out. But it has two huge flaws (for me anyway). First, you can get stuck in one place on the map doing exactly the same thing (which can be as simple as putting the same card down each time) for half the game. Second, it's really hard to implement the rule about how you're not meant to say what you've got in your hand. It's too ambiguous. At what point is saying I can keep xxx going for another few turns" not really giving away "I have three of those cards remaining"? If you over-explain your hand, it makes it easier to win.
@nib712862 жыл бұрын
No talking about your hand unless you are at the same quest, you can show everyone 2 cards at start of the game: everyone has a merlin, and the other card. "Do you want to go fight off some saxons with me? I need help"

Vincent Price Eh thought that at first but truthfully so many people own it and since it’s a great gateway game, I think it’s wonderful to see how to teach this especially to people new to gaming. Much love to Melissa, keep up the good work!

What a boring game! Negative aspects: a lot of factor luck, boring repeated actions; few alternatives for the player, slowness Positive aspect: new experience, for not repeating. Before our last game i played for the first time Saboteur: this was for all of us a great discover, with a lot of fun. Very easy to learn and to play. Fast. Discover the traitors or saboteurs was much more amusing that the same thing in Soc.
