It cracks me up that while he's praising Luna, Carole is praising him! She's training him to train Luna!

I love this! I know not all owners are comfortable showing their own learning on camera, but seeing Derrick learning instead of *just* the trainers was a really nice bonus and helped a lot! Thanks Derrick!

Holy cow. I tried this with my 3y.o. rescue pitbull. No food. just a tug on the lead, with 'leave it'... after 4x she got it. That and I watched the video on how to deal with barking... I responded once to her alert barking and now im the leader of her pack. big thanks

The timing is key to this, it’s harder than it looks to coordinate all of this. Not giving up though.

I am so happy to have found your channel! All of the trainers are amazing and very kind in helping the pet’s mom or dad learn how to correctly deliver whatever they are trying to help their dog to learn. All the trainers’ attention to detail and timing is amazing. Thank you so much for great tutorials and to all the pet parents that let you videotape their training session. A VERY big thank you to everyone involved! ❤️😊🐾

Carole this is great. I own a Mali mix. Smart smart smart dog, but tons of repetition. Repetition builds phenomenal bond, too. Love your style, Carole. Great seeing you!

So THAT's where I've been making a mistake - waiting for her to pull on the leash before trying to redirect! Thank you so much for this video! I've been raising Hera (1.4 y.o) with the help of your free videos (~400$ for a course - which I'd love to attend, because I'm sure I still make a lot of mistakes in spite of my previous dog experience - is just not affordable to me from Serbia :( ), and those of Zak George. She is the best-behaved dog in the parks, but we still have a long way to go since she's novelty-fearful/reactive, resource-guarding pup with separation anxiety. :(

Thanks for posting this, I found it very helpful. I really appreciated this particular video because it involved showing a novice pet parent and a newly adopted dog. Sometimes I get frustrated with watching your training videos because they involve only the highly skilled trainer and a seemingly well-behaved (pre-trained?) dog.

I fish so I need my black lab to not chase everything he sees 1. Don’t say “what’s that, what is it, get it” when we see a small animal 2. When we do see a small animal I shoot out a quick “no” when I see him fixate. He soon ignores it and continues 3. Don’t buy your dog “small animal” toys. This helped greatly. He never saw the animals as a toy or something to want

I have an 11 week puppy I've started to teach her restraint. And we're still working on our basics. What should we have mastered before moving on to leave it?

Good thing I taught my goldendoodle this command. She can't resist snacking on rabbit poop and digging up fire ant holes.

This has been a challenge when my dogs spot dropped food when out and about. They'll leave their food bowls until given the command to eat, but outside is a different story. We're working on it though, as lots of dogs have become sick or have died in my area due to people poisoning food and leaving it on popular walking routes 😡 they're on-lead dogs for now until they're 100% with the leave command

How did you get them to eat the food outdoors? Even when we're indoors sometimes my dog just doesn't seem to care about the food. He still gets distracted. What kind of food do you use for them?

Question. My puppy's getting pretty good with leave it in the house, but how do I teach her she's never supposed to touch the object again?
@Holy_ShihTzuАй бұрын
Can't do food on the nose for a flat faced dog like Shih-Tzu. Can't use collar either for long line as they have fragile throats. had to adapt method using harness, which mats their coat, so it can't stay on them all day like a collar. Love this channel but some of the core training tips conflict with the very specific breed needs of the Shih-Tzu.

My puppy never has accidents but when I take him to the dog park and we get back I give him a chance to use the bathroom outside but he doesn’t but ends up having an accident in his cage what should I do should I stop giving him a lot of water at the dog park??

I recently got a puppy and she won’t go outside. I open the door and she stays inside even when I try to lure her. If she does get out the front door she’ll stay on the steps and won’t go onto the grass or sidewalk. Any suggestions on how to help her?

I have 2 dogs that bark at everything. When they’re in the backyard they’re barking at squirrels, birds, people and dogs walking by. I gave up trying to teach because of the neighbor’s dogs. They bark at everything so I can’t imagine I’ll get mine to stop. 🤷♀️ Great video though!

Dog training is really dog owner training.
@kev26332 жыл бұрын
That wasn’t ideal practice for the leave it command. You want to have multiple different distractions not just going up to the same one over and over, Luna knew she was being fed after a few repititions and the exercise was pointless after that. Try having new people go by another dog or something that actually stimulates her next time and it will be MUCH more effective than repeating the same uninteresting distraction.
