Hey Eddie, glad to see you react to this again. In the intro you said you studied Western philosophy and like it a lot, but in the old one I thought you said you studied Eastern? Am i misremembering? And besides studying Confuscius who I already have, what philosophers from the Eastern side would you recommend, preferably not from China? Vietnam, Japan, etc.

Sorry I mispoke then, I studied western philosophy. Other influntial eastern philosophers I would reccomend are; Shankara Bhagathpada (India) Siddharatha Gautama, (aka the Buddha) (East/SE Asia) Ramanujacharya (India) Ibn Sina (Avicenna) (Islam) Rumi (Islam)

Easily, one of the best ERB ever. The detail, the study of the subjects, the production values... are superb. You can watch it 50 times and discover new things each time. One thing that shocked me when I read it is that, for a war treatise, the Art of War is quite anti-war. Like: - War is the last resort you should get to. - If you get to war you should make it as short as you can. - If you can't make it short try not to make it too destructive. - If you have te be destructive at least make the destruction make sense.

@@UltimateGamerCC He was never a warlord, actually. He lived in a time in China during one of its messiest wartime periods. One could imagine he was quite sick of seeing war everywhere, especially when many warlords of the time wanted him dead and he had to be on the run a lot. To be fair, you ain't really among the great Chinese philosophers if there wasn't some great power after your tail. There are exceptions, of course, but for the most part, Chinese philosophy often led to many a great shift in cultural thought, but it usually took a lot of time and across multiple student-teachers' teachings that followed the greats. The irony of modern-day curricula is trying to teach millennia-full philosophy in a few college courses. Those students won't learn very much. I was one of them.

I kind of see it as the total package as far as general strategy goes. (No pun intended) But you can read it both ways, hence why it's so often used in other fields (Ok, I guess I intended that one)... You need good soldiers to fight your war, so you want to preserve your resources by having happy and productive citizens...you want to maintain your happy and productive society, you need proper defenses against threats...All war is based on deception. Meaning, exploiting the unknown is the key to victory over your opponent. To do, you must know. Therefore study all the things that make people do what they do..."Know thy enemy and know yourself; in a hundred battles, you will never be defeated. When you are ignorant of the enemy but know yourself, your chances of winning or losing are equal. If ignorant both of your enemy and of yourself, you are sure to be defeated in every battle."

Okay, I'm at 7 minutes of video, wanted to say 2 things : - No, Sacrates didn't write anything, he was against it for many reasons, one being that you cannot converse with a text, it doesn't respond and always says the same thing (oversimplification but that's the idea, it was intentional, he didn't wanted to write his ideas and didn't do it). - Saying that Nietzsche is a nihilist is probably the worst thing to say since he was the absolute opposite. He was mostly criticizing many other philosopher to be nihilists (like Plato and Socrates for example). Yes, he talked a lot about it, but he himself was absolutely not a nihilist. It would be like saying Karl Marx was a strong believer of capitalist ideas

Basically we had Terror in Ressonance on the schedule (an anime about domestic terrorism) and the week it was scheduled it just so happened it was the same one that the Paris bombings happened. Because the ones left on the schedule were only available on DVD, there wasn't a real option to switch it out so the officers had to do some disclaimers about it and not supporting domestic terrorism. It was funny in hindsight but in the moment they were mortified. I had a moment like that of my own when I was president and I took someone's words on the trigger warnings for one anime only to discover during the first episode my friend hadn't noticed it was an Ero-Guro anime. ☺️

As someone that drinks way more coffee than anyone should, I can say drinking 75 cups of coffee a day would be extremely difficult. Let me explain why. There is only way I find this potentially possible is that he did not go to sleep that day at all. Voltaire would have to been awake for 24 hours straight to even achieve this. The most coffee I have drank in one day (and this continuously brewing pots and drinking as much as possible) is 4 pots (My coffee maker makes: 1 cup of 8 fl. oz. per 1 pot so 4 cups x 4 pots = 16 cups of coffee). That was the most I've ever done is 4 pots or 16 cups in like 12-14 hours nonstop. So he would've drank more than 4 times that amount! That would be almost 19 pots of coffee drank if done today! Logistically, for him to even do this once (all assuming cup sizes are the same or similar size and their method of brewing was around the same time to make) he would've had to been continuously drinking and brewing coffee for 24 hrs. straight! I'm not saying its possible, but there is simply not enough time in the day to brew and make this many cups of Joe unless you genuinely tried and were trying to break a record or something. My most educated guess is that whomever recorded/documented about his coffee intake made an exaggeration of sorts. I would also guess that this comment was made because Voltaire simply drank more coffee than the average guy in France and some people thought it was irregular and drank much less than he did. A lot of people today give me shit because I average about 2 pots of coffee a day, but I'd be a lightweight compared to Voltaire! (allegedly)

Sure... if i could stomach but yeah... also cups in France and most countries in europe aren't 8 ounces
