The Nitro crew give us a sneak peak at what goes into making a snowboard movie, and it looks fun as sh**! Join Eero Ettala, Benny Urban and the Nitro crew as they jib their way around Lofoten, Norway and attempt to splitboard during the creation of OFFLINE.
Lofoten in northern Norway has long been at the top of the bucket list for snowboard and surf adventurers. But it is not only the seclusion of the islands that makes it so special, but also the safe snow conditions and numerous options for splitboard tours and some of the most exotic surf spots in the world have a magical appeal. A charm that the nitro crew could not avoid. In the spring of 2018, part of the team therefore traveled across the Arctic Circle until they arrived where the days were long, the northern lights were spectacular and the stoke was damn high. This is followed by the recordings of Knut Eliassen, awesome human being and Nitro’s team manager.
Have you ever thought about just dropping everything, getting off your phone, closing your computer, and just live in the moment, offline? Just leaving the screens and creating real memories from your daily daydreams. The real world is out there, not inside the screen. Getting offline allows you to create memories with friends worth remembering until the end. Life is too short to let these moments pass you by.
The film showcases Nitro team riders Eero Ettala, Sam Taxwood, Austin Smith, Bryan Fox, Sven Thorgren, Elias Elhardt, Benny Urban, Nils Arvidsson, Dominik Wagner, Griffin Siebert, Jared Elston, Zeb Powell, Zoi Synnott, Laurie Blouin, Marc Swoboda, Torgeir Bergrem, Ludvig Billtoft, Marcus Kleveland, Knut Eliassen, KZbin creator Dan Mace, Volcom´s cinematographer Seth Hout and friends snowboarding around the world with one objective to have as much fun as possible in the moment no matter the conditions. OFFLINE features road trip through the USA, the streets of Eastern Europe, Powder in the Alps, a team splitboard vacation to Lofoten, Norway, Austin Smith´s Firetruck adventure to Alaska, a road trip to through the unchartered Balkan Mountains, and of course plenty of good old fashion resort snowboarding with friends.

I love Lofoten. I had the honour to live there back in 2013 and since then I always fly back each summer. Surf is good in Haukland beach and the people are very nice!!

You don't need a splitboard at all in these kind of snow conditions. A boot pack works just as well.

Many of the trails they walked are not that steep and using a boot pack would only result in going knee deep in snow multiple times, it'd be exhausting not having the split board with traps as well

@@johan12ab I've hiked in those conditions many many days and rarely had an issue. I can see the firmness of the snow in the video. bootpacking would be just fine. and in fact, crampons would be best in those ice conditions

I think there's something about the gliding motion of splitboarding that makes it easier than bootpacking. Also, there are crampons for splitboards. Those may have been nice to have
