I had literally the same “facing backwards early” problem last season and didn’t know how to figure it out, all tutorials didn’t mention that little detail. It’s sooo important and great to find such a little gem here, *THANKS*

Omg! This video got me so hyped!!! I was yelling every time he landed it! He was sending it too! I’m hoping to get my first 3 this season and it really looks like facing forward and getting a clean pop while coming off a slight edge is the key to a good spin. Way to go man!

He's blocking the rotation at 180 with his front shoulder. As a result, he's having to force round the last 180 with his lower body, whilst his upper body is in a position that is fighting against the rotation. Instead he should be turning his front shoulder smoothly all the way round to face downhill again. This will naturally bring his lower body around with it. He was doing this perfectly when practicing with his board off. Look at the slow motion shot at 4:52 and it's very apparent that his shoulder is blocking his rotation

@2:45 you can see exactly where he is going wrong. his back hand doenst actually throw the spin. he isnt using his upper body to initiate the spin. he starts throwing the rotation and pulls his hand back in immediately. I totally get its a mental game but little things like that with the shoulder rotation will push the new guy into the trick PROPERLY sooner! he has the commitment to throw, but he isnt getting the body rotation.

He just need more speed, the speed is the key of 180\360 or more. Now he used a lot of power to do jump and turn with lower speed. The first problem for snowboarder who want to go park is speed, the last problem still is speed.
@shredtabulous8 ай бұрын
The issue is not enough wind up on takeoff, and then counter rotating stops the rotation half way through. You could see he is way better at wind up toward the end, but still learning how to not counter rotate in the air. Even the last one he still tried to stop the rotation and then had to power through it. Look at Kevin just smoothly turning in the air.
@JohnIdlewood10 ай бұрын
Looks like it's not winding issue. It seems that you are already overrotated like 5-10 degrees on the kicker when you traverse on toe edge, so if you continue the arc on the snow, you'll ride to the side and you jump won't be perpendicular to the knuckle. So when you need to pop with all your body, instead, at the last moment you reduce the pressure on your toe not to fly to the side. You pop with you back, hips, but not toes. It greatly reduces the spin momentum. Tricks 180 and 360 don't require you to make a significant wind in, it shouldn't be struggle. 90% of 180s/360s trick is toe edge pressure UPD : Props for the speed on the 2nd day !

Look at his left arm, this is the one blocking its rotation when he's getting air. How come a "teacher" did not see that oO the first he managed to make a 360 was when this arm when UP, thus not blocking rotation. Not the best move to make at least better than all other tries.
