Rogue-likes and rogue-lites certainly seem to have their own kind of semiotic language. I found a process of trial and error with 20 Minutes Till Dawn and Hades was necessary in the early stages to see what kind of builds and buffs worked with each other and likewise my playstyle. I thought the RNG aspect of available buffs would annoy me but I found somewhat of a thrill. I see some parallels with how this game works to other games I play and perhaps (I speak as a relative newbie to this genre) some of it comes down to genre tropes, which forms the aforementioned semiotic language. The 1 perk per row thing was something I discovered the hard way in 20-MTD. I'm starting to get the feeling that learning rogue-likes/lites is like learning to drive. If you can drive a Mazda 3, you can drive a Ford Focus. Your perspective on learning this game seems to suggest our experiences with different games of this genre have parallels. There's definitely a design approach where the more you play, the better it gets, which appeals to my inner Sonic fan. I might have to give this a try. Steam Deck has a way to force Nearest Neighbour scaling so wahey. Also did you suggest bilinear filtering? Get off the internet! :P I'm with you on text though.

I'm convinced there isn't. At least a game like Megaman has checkpoints. This one you just die, return to upgrade a few things, and go again.

Its a roguelite, you die and start all over.

Ummm, do you live under a rock? It's a roguelite, it's how these games work, permadeath has been a defining feature of the genre since rogue was first released in 1980

Have you ever played a roguelite before? Half of your complaints are mechanics found in nearly every game in the genre, you should rename your channel to "CluelessGamer", roguelites are all about experimentation to find out what works well together, been playing these types of games for the last 8 years and is by far my favorite indie genre along side of metroidvanias and soulslikes
