As someone who as tought themselves animation and now works as a freelancer the big problem I faced was finding all the information. It's a hassle and can be very demorallizing going through the different books and videos of differing quality to find a answer. The big issue (in the UK least) is that the vast majority of animation jobs, especially the good ones, are so competitive that a degree is mandatory to even be looked at.
@dannymorales7874 жыл бұрын
Guess I'll be moving to the UK soon. Lol. And here I thought my Animation Degree wasn't worth anything.
@dingle29874 жыл бұрын
In the US, jobs can be found without a degree. I know plenty of artists in multiple specialties without degrees. I myself have a degree, but even then my teachers fell behind on some aspects that required me to self-learn. One of my instructors even got reported by his class because they basically had to self- learn Houdini for certain projects, and he only knew some basics that didn't help for the assigned projects. The teachers would then document the students self-learned techniques and then teach them to their next class the following year.

This is AMAZING!!!!!! I don't know how to express how excited I am, I'm a self-taught Cuban animator, the amount of time I have invested in finding free content that I could learn from my country is huge, I wish the language barrier could be fixed too, something like subtitles could make a huge difference. This is exciting!!! I want to help!!

Great content and as always great stuff. As a 3D animator, the whole idea of something being free is great and all, but realistically learning for free doesn't mean getting better for free. I've noticed that I can do 20 quadruped walk cycles but if my work never gets critiqued by someone with knowledge with quadrupeds, then how am I as an animator going to advance to the next stage and see where my mistakes are. I believe that's what the community needs, people with skills who currently work or have worked in the industry to meet the other persons needs on getting feedback.
@anaru3694 жыл бұрын
Fluidanims, Stickpage, Hyuns Dojo community has been giving animators the tools to teach themselves for years. However although these communities allow us to learn animation fundamentals it lacks access to professional industry people, most animators that do make it into the industry completely disappear. The professional review service is personally what i'm most interested in as its so hard to get access to professional feedback, I'm super excited for this project!

I taught myself animation by literally hitting buttons and messing around. Im still kinda new but 2 years in and im already working as a freelancer for many people. You can teach yourself anything if you WANT to. Cant be lazy around it you have to give it your all. Talking to other people who were better at animation than me and just having them give me tips also helped. Never followed any courses or full length animation tutorials I just watched other peoples product and tried to imitate them. After a while you start to pick up on small but common themes. Its the same for anything else I have learnt. Although something like this would speed up the early stages and get people engaged faster.

@surqe2224 жыл бұрын
You're totally right and I agree with you...but aren't you kinda limiting yourself by looking at other people's animations and trying to imitate their animations... Like for instance you could still go through tutorials and look at other people's animations but don't copy exactly... Try to make it unique...so that when they look at your work they probably won't tell that it was copied and it'll make them to follow your work... I currently still am considered a "baby" in animation but I try to also make my work look good and unique but they still suck...but eventually I'll get out of that state and be better... Same goes for ya

Side question, the color changes during the video are due to some kind of bug when Premiere exports - that's not in the project file! Anyone know what's going on with that? 😮

Ok. I signed up. It's free so I thought why not. I did watch a breakdown of animation in Akira. It's part 1... Uhm... Part 2? The video mentions subscribing. So I look on youtube. No. The video was uploaded in June so I assume the followup is there somewhere. There is no link to the video author to show other uploads... There are no comments to engage in discussions. Ok.. The whole thing feels like a great idea on a concept level. But if I'm not able to progress between posts... What am I gaining here?

For someone starting to animate in Maya where do you suggest that is a cost effect resource? I checked out this website but it's seeming much more targeted around theory and someone with experience and less about how to use the tools and the basics of character animation. Do you have any suggestions for self learners? Without some kind of course track, this website does not seem like a great place for someone who has never used Maya to animate before.

So after watching this video I do have a few questions. 1. is there a specific software it's aimed towards or is any software ok? for example I am a blender user and so I'd be looking for content to learn to do with blender because it's a familiar environment to me and the conversion between C4d and maya to blender might be a little tricky especially in areas where 1 has something another doesn't. 2. So this is more of a feedback site than it is a school like site. (I mean yes you are learning but it's not a school traditional with assigned tasks and stuff it's more of a review and tutorial site?... right?) 3. This sounds very interesting and I might join but how does this work? like can anyone review or do you need to get in contact with the reviewers to get a review? 4. and finally, could this help me with getting a job in the animation industry? I mean I know it's meant to help people improve and get help but do they do anything that would be possible to make finding a job easier?
