me too...on the other hand, going into too much detail is probably useless in mma. you will shoot when the guy is allready out of balance, a "tackle" will do it most of the times
@quinntolchin5727
@quinntolchin5727 Жыл бұрын
@@Jaburu why would you be comfortable with getting a mediocre takedown on a mediocre grappler just because they are off balance?
@Jaburu
@Jaburu Жыл бұрын
@@quinntolchin5727 because it's another setup. if the guy is in a wrestling stance I rather knee his head. you have to close the distance, so you wait for an oportunity, or you create it. it's just diferent. Just look at John Jones recent fight for an example. His single leg entry is totaly diferent from what you would learn in wrestling
@quinntolchin5727
@quinntolchin5727 Жыл бұрын
@@Jaburu I think you're missing my point. Being off balance is not "another" setup. Your opponent being off balance is a great setup in all grappling arts including striking arts and mma. My criticism was not of balance, you said: "a 'tackle' will do it most of the times". That is shitty technique and if you face a good wrestler in the cage, you will need good finishing mechanics on your shot if you want to finish. As he will have good defensive reactions even if off balance. I agree with you that the setups are different, i'm talking about finishing mechanics, which are the same once you close the distance in both sports.

Staggered stance, triangle foot position, head on the outside. (except for Bulgarian Double) Feign hand movement to the opponents eyes, while his eyes are blinking, change levels while driving forward. No one can keep you out.

Wow this brought back lots of memories. Been so long since i've wrestled, but i did it for 3 years. Depending on your age, some of you might've heard of Collin Palmer (age 34), he won state Championships 4x with a record of 147-4. We were good friends as kids, & on the same soccer team. He is insanely good.......but now he's a coach. **Thanks for the video

A lot of really good stuff right there Brian My thing is I always go off of my coach when I was working with Dan Gable when you make that scissor switch or whatever you call dad all you’re doing is turning the corner you need to put your head right into biting their tit off. Then the big thing too is this like before your level change the level changes kind of like the drop step.

Hi everyone, I've studied martial arts for years and am fairly athletic. I'm new to wrestling and I'm having trouble with the penetration step, especially the part where the lead knee touched the floor. People seem to do this fluidly, for me it feels very clunky. I should note I have long legs and a short torso, it feels like my knee bangs on the floor and I definitely wouldn't feel confident doing it without a soft mat. Anyone have advice or video I could look up?

You don't have to go to the knee for the double but it makes it a lot more efficient. You could just step deep to penetrate and push them back while doing a "greco style" shot that is higher but easier to defend
