At 9:29 when he said "Watch this hand abandon its post" I got lost for several minutes in the possible combinations of meanings of this. I believe he meant it figuratively, but then it was quite also literally abandoning a post. Then I started wondering... wait... is that why it's called posting? You're putting something there like you place a guard? And now I'm like I mean a person as a guard... not a defense... like a sentry. I'm really far gone now. I've realized that the word post has so many meanings I can't properly search for the origin of its meaning in a martial arts or wrestling context. Somebody help!
@TeachMeGrappling3 жыл бұрын
😆 🤙... you got me thinking! I was using it in the figurative sense but usually when I say “post” it means bracing your arm, leg, head out for structural support and balance. Interesting thought though!

@alvarocorral15763 жыл бұрын
@@clytnjms yes, same thing. It’s important that you use your arm to block their arms from under hooking you from behind or seat belting you. I would recommend that you drill this slowly with one of your training partners.

Coach Brian, thank you for showing details of escape from side control. Good to know multiple escapes from bottom without further endangering self, as in mma or street fight. In these conditions, you have to be able to escape off the bottom, or submit them from bottom to win-or live! Escapes and sweeps are important, especially if you can do them quickly, you never know if your opponent has help-and if they do have help, I think an escape might be more valuable than a submission attempt from bottom or even more valuable than a sweep because then your back is vulnerable in case opponent has help. Gotta get outta there fast. Thanks Coach Brian

When you bridge pop and his arms open, you can take your right hand and grab his right wrist and yank it towards your left shoulder as you pop to your refs position then immediately drop toward your right shoulder and it will flip him over you so that you will now be in side control. #catchwrestling

Hey coach have you ever heard of priit Mikhelson? What do u think of him and his ideas?
@Toddbarcey3 жыл бұрын
Looking forward to this topic series. Do you think you could address going up on toes into turtling there, and some of the risks and benefits like standing quickly maybe vs sitting to butterfly, tucking under -- some call seal feet I think. Granted I get a super strong base from there on my toes but wonder about my risks in getting them used for handles to flip me with essentially. When it's happened a few times I've uncoiled to guard, and it somehow just worked out, but always feared giving someone good leg access like that. Anyway, thanks in advance, looking forward to turning away in days ahead!

nothin wrong with "turning away" from the opponent - 90% of the open space is away from the opponent. I love the Pacman waka waka walk. I do that all the time - and this is super wrestling like! :) clean and simple And always deny the undehook- fight to protect the underhook space and never be flat- then back will not be effectively taken.

I'd say this is a pretty decent video, especially good for mma though, I wouldn't do this against a good jiu jitsu guy because of the kimura and guillotine. I think you can finish the armbar if you but your shin on the back of his head. But I don't really know, this is something I'll have to experiment with.
