After watching this video, I threw this on in a couple rolls and it helped me escape this bad position and one guy said he almost tapped from it. Thanks Coach Brian!

This absolutely works, a guy at my gym kept putting this body triangle on me so I looked up how to escape it and found this video. Thx so much 👍

Yep it was Ivan. I've still got the DVD on my shelf from Back when it was the only way to watch the UFC or any mma in Australia. No main event or fight pass back then😂

Yes it was Ivan Salaverry vs. Frickland. AMC represent. Wooot woooot. Matt said Jean Jacques Machado was doing the spine lock in Abu Dhabi and they were calling it rear naked choke, but I haven’t watched those ones so I can’t say for sure.

Learned so much from this video. I watched the Volk Islam fight and was curious what volk could've done. Do you think this could've been an option or was the cage cutting it off?

I'm glad you see the importance of posting the go to basic technique for this because too many ppl want to show something fancy and the 101 ends up being forgotten when it's most important, but actually get to the technique next time, should be 1-2 minute video

i've been caught a couple times recently with this . then i noticed nobody ever gets caught with it in mma.. (a couple of other comment threads have also talked about this) kron got caceres in a body triangle and it was game over. i noticed he put his locking leg between caceres' legs and at one point slid it into a hook on the far leg. didn't even look like caceres attempted the ankle lock. is this just a case of levels? so the questions become, what to do (besides tap) if your opponent attempts the ankle lock, and, what's the escape for when the body triangle locking leg is between your legs
@TeachMeGrappling5 жыл бұрын
Flexible athletes aren’t concerned with this counter to a body triangle. If your opponent attempts and you are susceptible, you need to try to escape the trap before it’s too late. If someone body triangles and the leg is between the legs, you will most likely not be able to foot lock them. It would be a video to show and explain the strategies for this position.

It feels like you have normal seat belt hooks and then you have body triangle. I assume there is no in between (like trying to claim an off angle hook or something).

No, because that'll be crossing your ankles, which is a mistake.

No!!! My secret is out :) I always wait for people to do this to me , then I take both hands and QUICKLY push on their trapped knee. (They are usually so preoccupied with going for a rnc ) . You can get a tap before the choke is on in 99%of the time:)

Hello I never done Jiu Jitsu or wrestling but I'm learning. So if a person does properly do the body triangle, n you have there foot trapped. If you push your hips forward wouldnt it cause them to tap?

Another gem bro. Hey brother I just wanted to be updated on when one of your competitors Meghan P. Is gonna be on EBI? I was watching Eddie do his 10th planet girls going at it about a week ago but I'm team BP all day. So, I was just wondering if I already missed it or what. Hit us with an update when you can. I appreciate you and your time, Brian. Thanks in advance g.

If you roll the person doing the body triangle to the other side and bridge that will snap their foot under the knee. I have been caught in the body triangle, but refuse to go to the side attempting to escape, don't want any accidents to happen. Are there safer escapes that won't injure anybody?
@reivaxsplayground60866 жыл бұрын
If you refuse during training I understand your feelings, but if you refuse to do it on competition you are on the wrong path, it's not healthy to worry about the wellness of somebody that you don't know and is equally trying to choke you or snap you, accidents happens all the time, it's part of the sport.
@RobinHood-yk8og6 жыл бұрын
It doesn't snap their foot, it stresses their ankle. It's a very tight lock, so sure, be careful with training partners, but 100% of BJJ submissions could break or kill your opponent; that is the entire point of them. If you're not including 'dangerous' holds as a principle, then you'll have to stay away from the rest of them as well.
@alanguages6 жыл бұрын
@@RobinHood-yk8og You are not getting my point here. The ankle breaks if you bridge and put weight on it and can be done in a split second. I should have wrote ankle. It is not as easy to control like an armbar or choke where time is given for the partner to tap. Our coach had to warn many about knee reaps and neck cranks, because it does not take much to injure. I will have to keep on searching, since BJJ has many counters and re-counters. The same with new people trying to twist other people's necks during rolls, they have to be warned with stuff like that. Edit: I just found one counter, that is safer for myself and my training partner. Very Technical work, but that is what BJJ is all about.

What side are you talking about?
@drock000136 жыл бұрын
@@alanguages you can armbar and pop it in a second. I use this in the gym on training partners all the time...slowly. then I loosen it and let them remove it because they almost always let the body triangle go if you let them once they realize you are going to footlock them. Usually stop body triangling after that too. Alot of people squeeze the shit out of you with body triangle which can pop ribs so I dont have any problem threatening a footlock. Its makes them have to defend from a dominant position. You don't have to blast this technique but some might so that's why knowing about this I feel is crucial especially if you use body triangle. I've used this in competition as well. Works awesome.
@chris.mcewin2 жыл бұрын
If I can't get my foot fully locked behind the knee, I'm not even thinking about locking up a body triangle, and I advise my students the same for this reason.
@keviny74806 жыл бұрын
They are not all lanky tho. Marcelo Garcia, Kron Gracie, even Gordon Ryan at the current weight is not lanky anymore. He fights more lanky and taller guys (not so much taller tho) at this current weight. Rickson Gracie was not a lanky dude either for his weight class. All body types can become a champion. It’s just about how well you use your body parts.
