I was just rewatching some of your videos and I started laughing when you said the bleach looked like cocaine because my sister is a cosmetologist and she got pulled over when I was with her once and the cop thought it was cocaine so he tested it... He soon found out that me, 12 at the time and my 25 year old sister weren't drug dealers.

Hey Camille watching your videos really helped me decide on what products and techniques to use for my first hair dying experience. I did a Ombre mines is Aqua to fuchsia only on the ends. I'm also transitioning so I figured bleach damage to my ends didn't matter because I'll probably cut it in the future anyways... Also the tips on stripping your hair dye are also helpful because I'm thinking of doing purples next and I'll have to lighten my hair again to get a lavender to show.... Anyways thanks for the tips you are uniquely beautiful and fun to watch

Question: Im a guy and i wanna dye my hair in a very dark green shade, any colors u know i could mix to get it done that way? and do i have to bleach my hair? if so what kind? I have black curly hair, Im sorry i just don't know what to do, never dyed my hair.
@OffbeatLook10 жыл бұрын
In order to get the color to show up, your hair has to be light enough. If it's a dark green, you only need to bleach your hair once, and then put in the green. I think Manic Panic sells a dark green, so I'd try that!

You're using 40 volume. That really fries your hair. You can use 30 and just leave it in a bit longer. I promise that you will see a difference in damage. I would also like to point out that you're scalp hurts afterwards because you didn't wait between bleachings. If you wait it should not normally hurt. Anyways, your hair looks really nice in the end.
@kennedyyungstar10 жыл бұрын
U sound jealous :)

kennedyyungstar Typical unoriginal KZbin comment. I quote "your hair looks really nice in the end". Not indication of jealousy. She did an amazing job.
@bangbutton832210 жыл бұрын
kennedyyungstar Plus i've bleached the crap out of my hair before and my scalp hurt, too. I looked it up a long time ago and its because not waiting between bleaching strips your scalp of oils and can cause bleach burns (especially at 40 vol). When I learn something I pass it down. Its not to "one up" someone.

This color suits you soo well:) I wonder, why didnt you tone your hair after the 1st time you bleached it? Wouldn't it be less damaging?
@OffbeatLook10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! And toning after just one bleaching wouldn't have done anything since the color hadn't lifted enough. A lot of people seem to think that you can bleach hair once and then tone it and it'll turn white, but in reality, toner doesn't do anything until your hair is already very, very light. It needs to have lifted to the correct shade before the toner can do any color correcting to tone out the yellow undertones. Toner leaves your hair the same shade of light or dark, but changes the yellow tint, so that's the last step to take for when your hair is finally light enough!

we have like the same hair!!! I put in this leave in conditioner stuff to contain the mane, but honestly it looks the same everyday because I cant really style it and straightening takes forever as you probably know. so Ive recently started dying my hair so that I don't feel as bummed that I cant do anything with it. I don't bleach but the color usually comes out really well! im letting my previous color come all the way out before dying it again and this time im going all the way with my favorite blue colors. full head from dark blue to light blue to almost white blue and im really excited! I just wanted to tell you because you understand how hard it is to have super curly hair, especially when people feel the need to touch it and pull on the curls because they "spring".

you don't need 40 developer no matter how dark your hair. use 30 MAX and just watch it until you need to wash it out. also don't shampoo after putting the color in, just rinse with cold water until the water runs clear. shampooing directly after adding dye is redundant. don't apply bleach directly to your roots; always leave about a 1/2 gap and when the bleach swells, it will cover the areas you didn't originally cover. learn how to do your hair if you plan to do it at home, otherwise you're eventually going to damage it or your skin.

Born2BeMe Honestly, I'm not really sure how it started because at my highschool everyone was super normal and nobody had interesting hair and they all dressed the same but I just really didn't want to be like that. I guess it came from my inner fire to express myself. I think as long as you like it and are very happy with yourself, then your confidence will grow from within and if you're outwardly confident then nobody will really try to mess with you because they'll see that you're happy with yourself. And if they say something like "wow your hair is crazy" then you just gotta be like bruhh I know!! and kinda roll with it and show that you accept it. That way nobody will really try to mess with you any more and everyone will be happy :)

Good results :) A few tips: working in sections make the process easier and faster and you could have also toned your hair instead of bleaching again to get a less copper color with less damage.
@OffbeatLook10 жыл бұрын
I needed to bleach it until it was light enough, and could have toned it to get out some of the yellow, but I find that toner doesn't do much for my hair, and by the time I get it light enough that it is the right level of lightness for me, the yellowness is already mostly gone and I don't really need to tone it. Working in sections definitely works, but after a while I'm just like wow I don't even feel like parting it anymore haha. I do sections more when I do multiple colors. But thanks for the tips :)

Lol.. To get a "white base" just bleach the hair and use TONER. Not rebleaching lmao
@OffbeatLook10 жыл бұрын
To get a white base, you need to bleach your hair until it is a very very light color, whether it turns white or very very light yellow. If you bleach it until it is a coppery color and then use toner, it will just be the same darkness as the coppery color but brown instead. It has to be basically white, and I've noticed that by the time that my hair is light enough, there isn't even enough yellowness left for it to be worth using toner.
@KimVisionPhoto10 жыл бұрын
lmao as a licensed cosmetologist, i highly recommend you look at all the toner shades to achieve a certain white-ish base color. but if you want to bleach your hair multiple times go ahead. And bleaching hair once even with 20 peroxide will develop the hair to a shade of blonde above level 7. Just patience and enough product on the hair strains application is good enough. and you dont need to apply ON the roots with bleach. quarter inch distance from scalp since bleach swells up the hair so itll get to the inner roots. okieeee
@OffbeatLook10 жыл бұрын
I've tried toner, and it really doesn't do much for me, plus when I bleach my hair, it gets to a light enough color where I don't need toner anyways. My hair is really dark, so volume 20 doesn't do much for me and 40 works perfectly. If I don't apply right on my roots, they won't get bleached, I've had that happen where I went almost down to the scalp but left just a little bit on accident and had to go back in and fix it. The bleach I use is scalp safe, but I probably just have a sensitive scalp. What I'm doing is what I've learned over the past year+ through trial and error, and I've finally gotten to the point where I know exactly what works for me with my hair type. Thanks for the tips though.
@KimVisionPhoto10 жыл бұрын
The bleach you used the same bleach powder and peroxide that everyone uses. lol. no such thing as scalp safe. try the 1/4 away from scalp bleaching method but then again, everyones impatient. oh welps. and sure youre welcome (;

I just stumbled upon this video and immediately subscribed. This was a great tutorial. I have naturally very curly hair and I am in the process of giving myself very blonde highlights. I have been going in stages because I was scared of damage from the bleach. But this video gave me hope. You lifted your hair color manyyyyy levels and your curls look gorgeous still. I can't wait to get to my desired level of blonde. How do you make sure to keep your hair healthy with all the bleach? I also Aussie 3 minute moist. How often do you deep condition your hair? How often do you trim? And do you ever use protein treatments? PS: you have such beautiful skin! You should do a skin care tutorial!

Thanks for subscribing! I was nervous when bleaching my hair for the first time, but it ended up working out for me! I use a lot of conditioning treatments on my hair whether it be moroccan argon oil, Garnier triple nutrition conditioner that I leave in my hair at all times, the Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner, or any other similar products that are for damaged or dry hair. I also wash my hair the least amount that I can to keep it clean but not overwashed so I don't dry it out and fade the color, and I don't use harsh shampoos that would dry out my hair even more. I don't use protein treatments, and I really just cut my hair whenever I feel that it's too long or if I notice split ends, so I don't really have a system for that haha. And thank you so much! I used to have horrible skin so it's so amazing that I'm actually getting complimented on it! I'll definitely do a skin care tutorial in the future! :)

Add a packet of the pink sweetenlo in the bleach to keep from burning. It has to be the pink! There's a chemical in that particular one to help from burning your scalp. That way you only need to bleach once (to maintain as much integrity of the hair as possible with bleaching). By bleaching twice, you're opening the cuticle of the hair shaft and closing and opening and closing and then coating it with your color. The second bleaching process is putting more stress on your hair than need be. And try stepping down to a 30 vol or even 20 developer if you can. The 40 is waaaaaay too strong. Developer is made of water, peroxide and phosphoric acid, not exactly the best for your hair. The 30 and 20 will reach to 40 with a longer processing time, but by speeding through the process with 40, it will most likely be less even and potentially more damaging. Hope this helps!

I did switch down to a 30 volume, it's less harsh. And thank you for the sweetenlo tip, I've never heard that one before! Has it worked well for you?

I don't usually apply bleach to my scalp (I don't bleach my full head), but I think coconut oil would help to prevent some of the scalp irritation.
@OffbeatLook10 жыл бұрын
I have tried that, but I think it makes it harder for the bleach to lift the color out of my hair. I've only done it once so I'm still in experimental phases though

Question. How long exactly did it take to bleach your hair to what you wanted to get that teal color to really show?
@OffbeatLook11 жыл бұрын
I bleached my hair for a while, until the bleach was starting to dry up so maybe around half an hour to 40 minutes, then the second time I only left it in for about 10 to 15 minutes because I couldn't take the burning, but if I wanted it to be perfectly white, I could have waited a day in between and done it for the same amount of time the second time and it would have turned out to be a better, whiter canvas. Basically, just get your hair as close to white as possible for the color to show up really well.

Ok... I know bleach kind of kills the hair but just how kind of healthy is your hair?

Awesome video! Just wondering, what kind of developer would a redhead need? I'm guessing 20 or 30, depending on how light or deep it is?
