Hi, MIP are doing a standalone 4WD kit confirmed on Dirk Anderson's interview so that's in the bank. Hopefully AE will confirm or deny this release soon but I don't expect it will happen until the Team Car is on all the shelves. I think this would be massive for them in 2025 as so many RC10 fans would want this. When the market is getting swamped with vintage competition, releasing your most desirable products is the best way to pick up the most cash and dominate market share.

AE could go two ways. A JH 4WD RC10 1st IFMAR race chain replica (best looking and so cool) or a flat belt design with a shorty lipo battery. Hard choice as one is more practical for vintage racing and the replica is best for vintage collectors. If I had to guess, I would say replica would be the best release strategy for collectors and leave MIP to do it's race 4WD option. Time will tell :)

That's a good question. If you are AE, do you go vintage JH 4WD prototype replica or go modern belt with lipo side mount? I did think that but after putting my product development hat on, personally it just doesn't make business sense for AE to partner with MIP vs just doing it themselves. It would make the kit even more expensive and lower the profit margin for AE / Thunder Tiger. Sure, it would add a bit of nostalgia to the kit but not enough to lose so much margin.
@jonthomas848722 күн бұрын

Is there a reason to be excited about this other than nostalgia? I've been into RC for 30 plus years but took a decade or so off until a 5 or 6 years ago. There's a reason i don't run any of my old stuff or buy duplicates of ones i used to have back in the day. They kinda suck compared to anything offered now. I'm old but i was only 7 in 1985 so this was before my day.
@techspeedrc23 күн бұрын
Great scoop, except it's nothing to do with Associated. They didn't make the first one and have no involvement in this. It will be an MIP product, in much the same way you can already get a repro 4wd RC10 conversion from Factory Works. Also Eustace Moore hasn't said it will be happening, all he had said, in one interview, is that with all the RC10 re-releases around MIP are looking into it, that it won't be the same as the original and it will likely only be for the stealth gearbox/long arm cars as aren't doing the rear gearbox, so it will only fit the soon to be released team car. That doesn't guarantee that it's on its way, after all MIP were also looking into it in 2014 with the first vintage repros from Associated.
@RCKickschannel23 күн бұрын
I'm talking about AE doing it's own 4WD RC10 kit. MIP will be doing it's own 4WD kit but like you say, in what configuration. Go more modern and do a flat belt config with a shorty lipo setup probably, but not confirmed. I guess time will tell :)

@@RCKickschannelso you are suggesting that Associated are building a new car that has no relevance to the originals in any way? Or are you basing this on a Facebook rumour based on the Eustace Moore interview is just mentioned above, where he doesn't mention a collaboration with Associated? You can find mention of the 4wd kit 30 minutes into the interview. Eustace's actual words are "now that Associated has positioned themselves to be able to supply people with the goodies, with the parts that they need to actually build it up from 'standard' type parts, we're going to have available MIP parts to actually, and the kit, to be able to build it. It won't be with the transmission, it will most likely use the stealth transmission and wider arms at the front, and then from the chassis to the shocks and the other components, steering components and all that people can choose what is standard. We are going to have something at least to present at the event (the JConcepts Clash of Champions) No mention of an actual car or any collaboration with Associated there.

From a business point of view, would it not be a smart move for AE to drop its own 4WD kit and clean up a bucket load of cash vs do nothing and let MIP sell a bucket load of kits?

What's wrong with the B7? Super chuffed with mine. Sure, sure the rear pin issue and the early diff housing being wonkey was a problem but its a super easy fix to fit the longer pins and if you want to push the boat out, fit the carbon comp diff housing option. Chuck in some PEEK Idler Gears from Willspeed as well and go at it with as much power as you want.
