10:33 this is the car I'm most interested in. not the ST, but the built NA hatch. people are getting 140-150ish wheel with cams and 12:1 pistons and ofc proper mapping. this engine is actually pretty sweet considering the range of power it's capable of producing.

Would a Honda Civic Si work as well as a Ford Fiesta? Or Honda Fit/Toyota Yaris?
@Teamoneilrally5 жыл бұрын
Those are all great options, but the big thing with those cars is going to be the rear suspension... With small FWD cars, manufacturers need to keep as much trunk/hatch cargo space as possible. They do this by making the rear suspension pretty small, sometimes there's some weird geometry because they have to fit it in a small space, usually there's not much suspension travel at all. Just make sure there is some kind of good option for whatever platform you decide to go with.

So if for stage rally you gotta be street legal. How many of these cars are registered and insured? Do you guys have some kind of gnarly multicar insurance policy? Overall very cool fleet. When Im done with college I want to figure out some funding to pay you guys a visit and hopefully my career can afford me to be competitive in rally. I recently built a sim and have really been enjoying it. I'm completing more and more stages first try and feel like im getting faster everytime I get on it. Hopefully my passion for rally (Having never done it IRL) and experience in the sim rig will help me along down the road in real life.

The impreza wagon and saloon differ more than just a bit more glass and sheet metal. The track is wider in the saloon which makes them more stable hense why the saloon is used far more than the wagon. But he's not a Subaru guy so I'll let him off 😉 great video though guys, always enjoy watching your material 👍
@GloGangBruceWayne6 жыл бұрын
Oll Smith wrong. you can use doors and bumpers from either model interchangeably
@ogeoffreys6 жыл бұрын
I didn't say the parts weren't interchangeable.... but there are some things that are different that cannot be interchanged.... as I said the track is wider on the saloon and the lower arms are different. I know because I've had both and had to replace them.... wings, doors and so on are interchangeable to some degree but the rear saloon doors would look stupodnon a wagon as they are flaired to match the co yours of the saloon wheel arches which the wagon does not have... just saying....

im suprised that fiestas are your main vhicle, ive never thought of ford fwd cars as being reliable or rally worthy. I know they do show up in rallys allot but i always assumed that was because ford was sponsering it, not because they were actually good cars inherently. why not 90's civics? decent power, verry simple to work on (base is sohc but cross flow and 4 valves per cylinder) double a-arms on all corners, lots of swap potential, many out there in manual and even often have manual steering.
@Teamoneilrally6 жыл бұрын
90s Civics are great! Plenty of people rally them, but up here in NH we have so much salt on the roads... we'd have to import them from down south or out west.

Cool selection and this place looks great for advanced training but for beginners I would recommend dirtfish if you already have to travel, they provide a ton of value. Plus they only train with STI's (AWD) and BRZ (RWD) which are fairly good at delivering those o-shit moments.
@nrlombardi7 жыл бұрын
No. Team O'Neil Rally school is the best in the country. You obviously don't know much about rallying considering FWD is the best to learn on for a beginner. Ask any Pro rally racer. They always say start off with FWD.

I have 16 miles of dirt road from town to home.. fastest car for that road that I had was a 1984 Toyota tercel wagon, 4x4, mostly in FWD mode, 1985 Rx7 was about a minute slower at best, way more power than what gravel road can handle.. and another minute slower is my Dodge dually diesel truck, again, way more power than what the dirt can handle, but super fun too

We use Bilstein HDs and heavy duty springs, and build the skid plates in-house. They're basically just rollbar tubing supports and 1/4" aluminum skidplates.

@@Teamoneilrally Oh ok Thank You! I currently have coilovers and Koni yellows, if I put them at a softer setting and raise the coilovers do you think they might work for entry level stuff?

Yup you'll be fine as long as it's not crazy rough! Some rallycross events are literally run in a field. It can get pretty bad by the end, but you can always usually pick a smooth line if you need to.
