And if you think about how much space he has to cover with either Tierney bombing on, or zinchenko moving into midfield, the man is literally doing the job of 2 players whilst leading the 2nd best defence in the league.

I honestly don't. Schar is a better midfielder in a way and the way we play that means he looks better at times. But Botman in defence is miles above. Schar is also solid but Botman is just better as a CB.

As a Newcastle fan I would still say Botman. An absolute brick wall with good diagonal passes to trippier and miggy. Schar is class but not as strong, and he is better on the ball but tries to go long too often when no one is running have to say botman is much more consistent

@@MyLocalJake I agree Botman is Unreal defensively. Will be world class one day, absolute bargain. But the 1 thing I disagree about is Botman being more consistent. That's 1 thing Schar definitely has over him this season. Botman started shaky and has had a couple howlers (Southampton away in PL). He's still very young so that's expected. With the long balls, I think that's simply by virtu of relying on Schar as an outlet. If you try more passes, you'll miss more in volume etc.

I think this was a great conversation besides the part where KDB's been blown off saying he hasn't influenced City enough. As a United supporter, KDB is certainly in my team. He leads in assists, created the most chances, the most big chances (by a lot), most expected assists (by a lot), and he's just doing what he's done in and out every season. Everyone is talking about Haaland's goal tally at this point in the season, but 11 assists in 19 appearances is insanely high class and I think you guys have done him very dirty by not even discussing him. Great discussion otherwise.

As a Brighton fan, I can't believe how biased this conversation is towards the 'big' clubs. Not ONE single Brighton player is even being considered, despite us currently sitting in 6th in the league, beating multiple top 6 sides and dumping the holders Liverpool out of the FA Cup? Fair enough if you don't pick them in your team of the season, but to not even CONSIDER any of them? Wow. Take the blinkers off, guys! The league is made up of more than 5 or 6 teams! Trossard was dynamite for us before the World Cup and his Arsenal move. Mitoma has been absolutely incredible this season and is now being touted as a potential £70+million player, Caicedo has been immense in midfield and we literally turned down that sort of money being offered to us by Chelsea and Arsenal. Mac Allister has come in to his own this season, literally won the World Cup, and was one of Argentinas best players at the tournament. Hell, even players like Solly March and Danny Welbeck have been performing better than they have in a long time, although I'll grant you, they're not exactly in contention for TOTS

@@Todss12 Guimeras is a box to box mid fielder important for balance in the time, he is more like xhaka, gundogan or tielemens type of player and not like Fernandez. Having balance in a team is very imp if you place Fernandez over Bruno g, this team might not play as good due to lack of balance. Every team has its own philosophy. Some like to sit back and defend and hit on counter some play more possession based football. But basic set of players are same in every team. Every position needs to be addressed accordingly. If you play mbappe in place of tchoumani or even xhaka his performances will drop. That’s my take but you can disagree with me. Everyone has their own understanding of the game.
