Honestly I don’t think i’ve ever seen such a complete rugby player as PSDT. He’s truly the perfect combination of thoroughbred and workhorse. For a guy of that size and build to move like that almost defies physics, and his offloading and handling skills seem to be getting better every week. In almost every line break by the speedsters (think Kriel, Arendse, Kolbe, etc.) he’s right there as the closest support runner, his defensive skills are second to none, and his engine is something out of myth. From the first minute of the game to the 80th there’s absolutely zero drop off. It doesn’t even make sense!

Props are the goalkeepers of rugby though unfortunatly. You could be literally the perfect player and you will never be in the conversation for GOAT or the best player in the world because of backline and flashyness bias. You literally see it happening today where the Europeans are so absolutely convinced that Dupont is the goat meanwhile he's done literally nothing of note in the game

Big selection headaches ahead for the Boks. Who do you back at 9, 10 and 15 with an eye on the next WC? At least 4 or 5 scrumhalves have put up their hands, at flyhalf you have Pollard, Manie and SFM and three doesn't go into two. But the biggest headache is probably at 15 where Fassi has just made a big statement, but at the same time Quan Horn played arguably his best ever game for the Lions against Ulster, Jordan Hendrikse looks like he was made for fullback at the Sharks (and kicks 60m penalties for fun), Damian Willemse is back, and Willie hasn't gone anywhere either. And let's not forget about the centres either - the Lions' Henco van Wyk is finally back after his long knee injury absence, and in my opinion he is the kind of guy who simply has to play as many games for the Boks as possible.

I reckon three Boks are in the running for World Player of the Year. Both Cheslin Kolbe and PSDT would be worthy winners, but I would give it to Ox Nche, by the narrowest of margins. He's just grown so much this year, and is now pretty close to the all-round perfect loosehead prop. Savage in the scrum, great as a ball carrier and works is butt off in defense. Not sure World Rugby have it in them to give the award to a frontranker though.

As a springboks fan we were bitterly disappointed with the round 5 result against argintina. Love to hear the deserved praise for our boks but if we want to be the best team of all time, we HAVE to really be pushing for a good long win streak or the perfect season which was achieved by the great all blacks team in 2013 and onward. Or is this an old fashioned was of thought considering teams are overall much more competitive and any team especially and argintina team can pitch up on the day. Are we supposed to be taking the wins as they come and moving on from losses quicker or is the goal still to be winning game after game on the bounce. Cheers for the vids 👍

@@sandorclegane3658 yea completely agree, I'm only asking that in the process of building does that mean we need to be okay with loosing multiple tests per year? You'd have to think the both the Irish loss and the argintina loss weren't necessary. We lost against the Irish in the last 2 minutes but winning that match I don't think would've taught us any less. Same with agri game, yes we were far from the mark but of mannie makes the kick or we score the try off of the maul that manie missed touch on. I am Argentine and I would like to know what you think about the refereeing. In my opinion, he made a lot of mistakes and it was detrimental to the Pumas. South Africa won because they played better. Without the help of the referee, they would have won anyway.
@braindeadprawn9 сағат бұрын
You guys had a great tournament, everyone agrees that Argentina is now a top team who can beat anyone on their day. Don't ruin it. The game was close until the Pumas were down to 13. South Africa didn't score from 40-70 mins then ran away with it right at the end. Argentina got lucky a few times, they could have easily had a red for the challenge in the air, they were also already on yellow card warning after 3 scrums in the first 10 minutes, and that never came. The early scrum on the five could easily have been a penalty try and a yellow. It could have been much, much worse for Argentina. It could easily have been 6 cards instead of 3, the ref was out out to get you.

@@nicolasdidier1693 Thank you for being civil in response. I'm South African, and support the Stormers. My first advice would be to learn about the culture, when the game is done, we shake hands and show respect. Many fans, especially my fellow South Africans, are quick to blame the referee, or claim cheating. This is not what rugby is about. Refereeing perfectly is impossible, rugby has so many laws that contradict each other, the refs job is to keep the game fair, he cannot possibly have black and white calls like football. It's part of the beauty of the game, great teams always push the boundries of the laws. Welcome to rugby, enjoy the ride! It really is a great sport if you are willing to learn all the technicalities. Who is your favourite team?

@recontramolon6 сағат бұрын
Sorry for the shity translation of IA: Speaking of refereeing, I don’t want to make a simplistic analysis; we can’t reduce it to good or bad refereeing, it’s more complex than that. There’s a version that wants to prove its thesis that “bad refereeing” is only perceived that way by the losers, and to demonstrate this, it takes actions that validate this while discarding or minimizing others. To do that analysis properly, we would have to see all the infractions, but that also wouldn’t give us a true measure of the refereeing. There are people that want to show that the biased perception of the loser sees biased refereeing where there isn’t any. In last Saturday’s match, the moment an nonexistent or at least questionable foul is called is important. Undoubtedly, the nonexistent penalty against Grondona when Argentina had just scored a try and was coming in positively (for that, they should call when the ball is thrown crooked to the scrum by the 9 with the book in hand) was a turning point. And then we enter the territory of “what if we had played that lineup on their field when we were on the rise?” I agree that Boke doesn’t need any favors from the referee; they defend themselves because they are beasts, and they would have won by half a point because one-on-one, they are excellent, and as a team today, they are better. Lightning doesn’t strike twice in the same place.What I mean is that the Pumas are the poor little brother who has just joined the family business of Tier 1. They didn’t get in like Italy did because their parents paid for a Master’s at MIT and financed them as a chronic student for 20 years; the Pumas went to public school, started their startup, and today it’s a success due to their own merit. The other brothers from the 6 Nations and Tri Nations could no longer pretend to be foolish, and they were brought into the company. But beware, the accountants, lawyers, and engineers of the family business all respond and know who pays their salaries and maintains their status, and they are not these poor savages with an invented black legend for playing dirty (they call it physicality and grit, which is all that Anglo-Saxon journalism highlights about the Pumas). That’s why the refereeing last Saturday is not an exception; it’s the rule for almost all referees against Argentina. We’re not saying that Ben O Trickffie has been given a briefcase to whistle against them; it’s that he, like his fellow international referees, consciously and unconsciously knows who owns the Circus. The scrutiny applied to Argentina in refereeing is not the same as for the rich older brothers. The Boke can enter rucks with a machete, from above, from the side, from below; if the player gets a second of touching the ball, it’s Pumas’ retention. For them to call that on the Pumas, five eternal seconds have to pass with the player receiving caresses from the opposing front row, etc. (it's just a small example). And this makes you play with fear, not at the limit of the infraction as rugby should be played. This subtlety-being psychological-changes the narrative.It’s curious that in this corporate analogy we don’t have any lawyers or accountants in the company (which international referee does Argentina have?) There are good referees in Argentina, but anyone who wants to reach that level will have to wear kneepads and be more papist than the pope or than Jako. Just look at how all the Tier 1 staffs have former referees in their ranks, so that we see that referees aren’t cloistered monks, but mercenaries in a way. Everyone has a price and knows who pays it. From there onward, the subtleties that tilt the playing field are evident. Once again, the rich older brothers don’t want us to grow, and they cut themselves off when they see us gaining momentum (cuts from the Rugby Championship by the Boke and AB). But I also understand that the Pumas got there not by adhering to a victimhood that is more typical of the Chileans, but by poking the eyes of these abusive brothers. Go, Pumas!!!
