One thing I want to add to this, since I think I made it seem too simplistic, ie MISS=bad. Is that really the most important thing to consider is the total volume of cardio and the duration. One 20min miss session per week is like a fart in a tornado, 5 45min MISS sessions per week is much more likely to interfere with your progress in the gym. Can't ignore frequency and duration. A few MISS sessions is no big deal.

Yes especially for stubborn body fat mobilization (however this only matters when you are sub 10% body fat). Besides that burning the extra calories off through cardio means your metabolism is less suppressed compared to burning it off through reducing calories

Good informative video...what are your thoughts on measuring cardio output? (besides cals) Usually what i've been doing lately: 20 mins on the stepmill/stairmaster 2x a week. I'll get my HR between 155-165. I'm pretty sure you could call that MISS. I think i'm gonna give your HIIT example a try...sounds a lot better than running on a track/treadmill

How do we determine the difference between LISS and MISS? Is it related to the RPE or heart rate? Would a BRISK walk be MISS, or would that still only be LISS? Any issues with brisk walking 45-60 mins 7 days per week?

So the amount of calories you burn doing the cardio, do you tack on those calories back into your diet? Like if your going for a 500 caloric deficit, and you burned 400 calories running, only do a 100 caloric deficit diet wise?
@HEDIDITAGAIN11111111 жыл бұрын
Curious as to your opinion on occluded cardio. I'm maxed out on my hiit per week so now I've added in some lighter occluded intervals. My guess is that it will not be as good as my usual HIIT, but better than the same duration of LISS or MISS. Any thoughts on what kind of effect I could expect to get out of it?
@edoardotacconi11 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric! How can I calculate how much cals are burned if I know my heart rate? For ex: 30 mins, walking 6 km/h (3.7 mph) 6% incline, avg bpm 146, 85 kg x 178 cm. I found a formula and the result is 420 clas burned. I doubt.

I don't think it's a need, it's just a good luxury to have, so you can walk up calories and come in full. The more time you have to play with, the more consistent your results will be. It's completely achievable other ways, this is just one.

We tested the calories burned on top of exercise. The results are pretty insignificant due to EPOC. You burn what the HR monitor says for the most part.
