I’m grateful to know first hand that Conan is very kind in public. About 15 years ago my family and I flew into Burbank airport from Seattle. Conan was there picking up his in laws. It’s a tiny airport with one conveyor for luggage. People were asking for pics and autographs. I was much to awkward to ask a celebrity for an autograph or do more than quickly glance in the direction of Conan. Two tween boys were sitting in the edge of the conveyor when the luggage started coming down. They were still sitting there as I tried to reach past them to get one of our suitcases, when an arm reached over the top of me and the punk kids, and got the suitcase for me. Their mom nervously laughed while telling them to move. I looked behind me as the case was lifted over my head (i was crouching) and it was Conan! I quickly glanced up and muttered thank you. We got all our bags. Conan and his family went out to the car, and I immediately felt awful for not showing more gratitude. I went on and on about that until my then 12 year old daughter snarkly said, “Well, there goes his car, you can chase after it!” It was actually just what I needed to snap me out of it.I love opportunities to share that story to illustrate what a good guy Conan O’Brien is….at least in public 😉

As a person who lives in Tacoma and grew up near Burbank airport, I enjoy this story. Burbank is a fantastic airport. Whether you’re flying in or picking someone up, it’s so nice. Ontario is another great airport in the greater Los Angeles area, as is John Wayne. Basically, LAX sucks.

This explains sooooo much about my middle sister!!! I’m the oldest of 3. As a child, I could not stand having all the focus on myself. However, she would lie about EVERYTHING to get attention and still does. We grew up going to a catholic school and my mom had to drive us. We attended mass every morning. Most mornings we were late. One morning as several of us children filed in late, the priest stops the mass to tell us that we need to tell our parents to get us to school earlier. I was mortified! So embarrassed. Feeling as if the priest was yelling at me directly. That evening I was crying and telling my mother what the priest said. My sister was not phased at all. She loved that we were called out by the priest.

Well, Hubble took all the credit but others had already made the same conclusion, eg, scientist Howard Robertson and a Belgian priest called Georges Lemaître. Hubble just had more funding and a larger data set. It was also a group of female mathematicians who discovered things like red shift which these other people wouldn't have concluded cosmic expansion without. This is commonplace in the reality of science. For example, Alfred Russel Wallace had already written a paper concluding the evolution of species. Darwin in fact suppressed his work at the time and took all the credit.

I’m a middle child. I have no idea what these people are talking about. Granted, I’m a squeaky wheel… I GET attention. It’s all so deep down repressed subconsciously derived however. I have ZERO recollection of ever being so happy to be in the spotlight. When I broke my arm I had immense pain, the world became very dark as I went into tunnel vision and shock and NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON said anything to me about it being “cool.” Evidently I rode in an ambulance. They gave me drugs and I “guess it made me feel good”. I did manage to wake up in my bed at some point after my last memory being the tunnel vision. * I was in the 6th grade, roller skating, a kid fell in front of me, I went down and thought my scrawny little wrist was gonna stop the centrifugal force. Uhhhhhh… not. All my classmates were there since it was a school sponsored event. Yes… my mishap is but one of the 1000s of reasons kids don’t have fun anymore.
