Dana always seems to really enjoy doing his impressions. That makes it even more fun to watch.

What people don't seem to understand is that Dana isn't trying to make a SPOT ON impression that you should take seriously. He's making an impression of the person as if he or she was a cartoon character. It's just an exaggerated, funny version of the person taken to the extreme. And those impressions are in my opinion A LOT more fun and impressive.

Exactly! There's no point of an impression that literally tries to sound like the target person. That's why, like, Alec Baldwin's Trump is never going to make anyone actually, genuinely laugh, because... why not just watch Trump at that point? But yeah, I totally agree, the point of comedic impressions is that you have to put a bit of yourself in it, exaggerate and draw attention to specific aspects of the person's speaking cadence and hand gestures. Dana is a genius and is able to select the right combination of gestures to emphasize.
