Finally got around to starting my KeyForge collection after years of putting it off, missing out, putting it off, missing out, etc., with a strict limit on quantity of decks per set (for now, at least). Currently at seven, not counting starter decks, with another eight next week and possible backing of the Winds of Exchange crowdfund. No going back, as history repeats itself… 🗝

FINALLY we're off to the races with the KeyForge series! Man I haven't been as excited about a game since... crikey I can't even remember! Now if only I could stop googling "KeyForge release date" every 5 minutes... Great video as always.

Feet up, cup of tea, and a new TC Learning Series to watch. I’m intrigued by this notion of a single unique deck; we play casual so minimal buy-in cost, balanced decks, and fun gameplay are key. Thanks for the vids; keep up the good work !

Definitely interested in the low barrier to entry; having to pick 40 or so cards to make a deck out of the thousands available in games like MtG or YuGiOh is definitely overwhelming to some people, not to mention actually buying these cards can require some deep pockets.

I discovered your channel recently as I was looking for Netrunner tutorials. You guys are doing an amazing job. Great production value, crystal clear explanations, charismatic hosts... you guys are the total package! :D Keep up the good work.

Thanks as always for the great content guys! I love the insight that each house doesn't have to be good at combat! I really hadn't considered that as I approached my first few decks, being so used to other style card games, but I think it is a great insight that will help me wrap my mind around the different strategies that each house brings to the table.

I hope that the algorithm for producing decks allows a completely broken totally usellss deck sometime, just 1, and just 1 complexly dominant deck. Just for the salt!

The thing is, Magic can borrow any of these mechanics if they want to for a couple sets. That's what's cool about magic. It can always adapt

Imagine, somewhere, possibly in a building owned by Fantasy Flight Games, there is a room. In that room is a printer attached to an AI. This AI first designs 36 decks. Each is printed 6 cards by 6 cards on their own sheet (with unique card back...take that, Hearthstone!). Then a 37th sheet is printed with 36 Identity cards. Everything is cut up, identity cards assigned to decks, decks assembled, sealed and put in boxes with no one ever seeing them until they're opened by a player. The AI remembers every single deck it's created by name. A sad face emoji shows on the screen for 5 seconds as its children go off on their own into the world...then the AI designs 36 more decks. Sometimes a happy face emoji flashes on the screen for 3 seconds when one of the decks calls home to let it know it's been registered with a player.

It's also interesting though because deck prices might get crazy on the black market! That could be cool.

The problem is going to be the same problem as booster packs. You're essentially buying expensive booster packs. You could pay $10 and you could have a deck that's trash. The person who sells out the most money, gets the most decks to choose from, and therefore is more successful provided that they have skill.

Sure, but hopefully the imbalance between decks is small enough that it doesn't matter too much.

Love this series! How long would you say a typical game lasts between two competent players?
@teamcovenant6 жыл бұрын
We have found that normal games (Non-learning episode games) last between 15-30 minutes depending on the decks. Some of the Shadows / Dis heavy decks can really slow your opponent down and some Brobnar and Sanctum decks can win very quickly.
@MrJeepinZeke6 жыл бұрын
Team Covenant Thanks! That sounds perfect to throw down a casual game or two.

So I get that there is no deck building and that is the point... but is it possible (unofficially of course) for people to build a deck by using card sleeves to hide the back? just curious.
@KnakuanaRka4 жыл бұрын
If that's what you want, knock yourself out!
@ethancooper10566 жыл бұрын
So is it just like... The back art is random? Or are the actual cards themselves random? As in, like, the effect is completely random, and no one will get the same card?
@teamcovenant6 жыл бұрын
The deck is made up of a random assortment of standard cards. Also the back art is random, and will likely be used to ensure no card swapping took place.
@ethancooper10566 жыл бұрын
@@teamcovenant I'm really excited for this game... I feel like this is exactly what I've been looking for, an easy to get into, the fun part is playing, card game! Another thing that could help those that are more insistent about deck building, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from making custom formats and using sleeves to actually build decks from the game. Of course, you'll lose the online aspect but...

I'm like a lot of other people here. I am just absolutely delighted with this format and the possibilities of a lot of enjoyable games by just owning a few decks. Although, for $10 a hit, I can see me just picking up one deck while I'm out paying bills, or going to the post office or walking the dog 25 miles to my nearest game store. Mmmmm gonna be good times 😇

The problem with all the benefits you guys list for this game can be easily applied to a board game. The whole gimmick of the game is a card game where you have no choice on what you play. Might as well play UNO.

EienXavior don’t feed the troll people!
@guglielmoscecspir10536 жыл бұрын
Funny thing is, since you have to declare you are going to forge the next turn if able; a lot of people are already saying ''UNO'' to address more than 6 ambers to the opponent. A fitting troll.
@KnakuanaRka4 жыл бұрын
How do you have no choice? There's plenty of decks to try out, lots of strategy in each duel, and comparing this to Uno is complete nonsense.
