Hi there Scot, Thanks for this great site ! I have a 1943 GPW, it's been lovingly restored by a dear friend who was meticulous with every detail. So generally I have only had to replace the coil in the year that I have owned it this little gem. I'm sure at some point it will need a repair of some sort and Team G503 will always be the place to go for top advice !! Thanks again!

I heard that "Fresca soda" bottle cap jumping off the bottle. Hope that opener was "drab green" in color!

al bugnfront you caught that huh😉 Janton recently received a lot of attention for his installation of a coke bottle opener on the back side of his Jeep on the G503 Facebook Page😉👍

Hi! Great job you guys! I have a question. I just got a 1951 CJ3A. It was sitting for 20 years. I started to remove parts that I'm going to replace on the engine. I accidently removed the entire stud which the oil filter is held down by and I noticed antifreeze bobbing around in the stud hole. I have not removed any fluids yet but I don't know if that is normal or if I have a bigger problem. Do you guys know?
@peterrath90974 жыл бұрын
Nice, I have the same problem! What thread locker did you use?
@leftcoast9261 Жыл бұрын
If the threaded bolts were corse threaded into the block. (A good possibility) Then they should be torqued at a higher value. Been there, blew the head gasket for my education. How much higher? For the Jeep, I don't know. My engine (Dodge) came with either, so I was able to look up the difference.

Should you pull the studs out of the block every time you do a head gasket? Thanks. Sounds like you have some valves out of adjustment.

I have a m38 that also have issues with head gasket. Lots of White smoke .i m thinking replacing the head gasket. Did you also do cylinder head flatness?
@TeamG5034 жыл бұрын
baios zisimos on this one we did not. You can check the block side with a straight edge and or visual inspection. The copper spray helps seal the small imperfections. To machine the top of the block, I believe would require removing and disassembling the block.

That head should drop nicely once it’s square on. Clearly they have a bent stud or two.
@TeamG5035 жыл бұрын
Jon Jon studs are all brand new, quality. There are many helicoils in the top of the block. I personally have never had a head just drop on. It worked out well👍

Fuel filler neck is not under the driver's seat. Tell me please, what year is this Willys?
@TeamG5035 жыл бұрын
BadRussian Jantons Jeep is a 46 CJ2A that has been militarized. That is why the filler is on the outside of the tub. 👍

I think you will find that was steam, not smoke! Just don't leave your fingers under the head when you drive it down, it is even harder to get the head back up than pushing it down, especially when your fingers are under it!
@devonguthrie22343 жыл бұрын
What copper spray did you guys use on the head gasket?
@thomashynd22915 жыл бұрын
I hate it when the head initially doesn't want to go down and then when you least expect it, it drops. The tips of your fingers don't like it!!!
@TeamG5035 жыл бұрын
That is a great tip. That would be keep those finger tips. 👍

Kopparsraj är inte bra att sätta på en topplockspackning! Det göra att den glider lättare å brister, 😢 det ska inte vara olja,fett, eller annat glidmedel mellan ett bultförband, å speciellt inte på en topplockspackning.
