Bought a 2020 Z19 off rhe floor in Springfield. Only 2 issues i have had: the step on the trailer tongue came loose on a trip to Florid this February and the uts holding the passenger side glove box together came off. Both were easy fixes.

I have a 2013 Z8, been running Lake Ontario in it since I picked it up in May 2013. Last year I did have the seats redone, but beyond that I have no complaints about the boat. Maybe I just got lucky and got a good one. The trailer is another story, the front axle has been replaced and one wheel hub was replaced. Other than that so far so good

I’ve watched a ton of videos from professional fisherman who have nitro as a sponsor and they always say they beat the shit outta their last boat and it was awesome, but damn they get a new boat every year. How the hell can you judge how great a boat is in a year? I know they use their boats more than anybody else but there’s no way a year can tell you how well a boat will hold up.

If a pro uses his boat 300 days outta the year, and a weekend angler uses his a couple times a week, then it will take the amateur 3 years to put the same miles on his boat and trailer.

Andy, what is the fix for separation of hull and cap? Your market analysis of White river marine seems spot on. The former top level boat seems to be heading to lower standards to make the lower level (cheaper) model look more attractive. No doubt they are making a killing on all their boats, probably most so on the Nitro and Tracker brands.

Sold my Nitro boat a few years ago, had it for 4 years. He has the timeline down to the “t” on the failures. Trailer is garbage, hub caps broke 2 years, fenders starting getting loose in 2 years, seats starting cracking in 3 as well as the carpet starting coming up. That all being said it was an affordable boat back in 2014. Just ordered a Ranger, from what I’ve read the quality is better. We’ll have to see in three years!

I've had x2 used Nitro boats ( 1996 & 2004) over the last 30 years. They handle rough water really well and for the price, they're good options! Only negative is NO JACKPLATE!

I’ve owned a 1995 Rick Clunn 17 foot nitro. Tournament fished in it for six years. The 125 horse finally gave out. Bought a z19 pro 2022 for under 57k. It will do 69. But I don’t tourney any more. And besides going fast doesn’t win tournaments. Some of us can keep care of a boat. And some of us can’t afford a starter boat for 85k. Nitro no problem here.

So what boats do you like? I know you’re mostly bass boat focused, but in the multi-species market, nitro is generally $15k+ cheaper than the competition and I’m finding more people defending WRMG than bashing them outside the bass world.

I own a Phoenix 921 elite now , came from a nitro I had for 14 years , no issues with nitro, I would have no problems going back to nitro , the deck fishes as good if not better than any boat on the market , I wouldn’t get the touch screen pad like the z21 has , but besides that rock solid boat that fishes great, speed is just fine compared to other boats , my Phoenix maybe 2 mph faster than a z20 , anyone who knocks a nitro has never seriously fished out of then ,

I've got a 2020 z20 pro package. Haven't massively regretted the purchase yet lol. Good: Price. The pro package at the time was 10-15k cheaper than any of the other major brands. This is no longer the case, nitro has jacked up the prices and the skeeter is the best deal now. I love the way the hull handles, great turning, good holeshot, rough water ride and the width is great. Speed is ok for a wide boat. Also, the gelcoat on mine was done really well from the factory, only found a few tiny tiny flaws from the factory. I've used mine hard on rough water and have zero stress cracks so far. I've had zero problems with the seats as you mentioned, but I am pretty careful with them and use lots of 303. Also, easy rigging like you mentioned in your video for electronics. Bad: Touchpad control system. Mine just failed, possibly the ECU, still troubleshooting. Dealers are generally worthless. Trailers stink, have had brake issues with mine, screws on the fender liners can back out and scratch the hull (I replaced the cheap self tappers with a bolt with nylock nuts). In general, lots of hardware comes loose. Have to look to boat over and blue loctite much of the factory hardware. Ugly: Carpet. Just cheap thin carpet, can tell its going to look ratty before too long, and thats with pretty good upkeep and frequent vacuuming and cleaning. The Z21 has a nicer grade carpet. If I knew what I knew now, I'd probably have gotten a used Phoenix instead of buying new. I'm in a position now where I don't really want to replace the boat, I could get good money for mine but new ones are significantly more expensive now. Thinking about converting the touchpad to good ole rotary or toggle switches, electronic touchpads make no sense in boats to me.

another item no bass boat should have is carpet. carpet is used to cover up poor craftsmanship. Why Rangers cost more, pull carpet up and look at decking you will see slick gel coat unless Johnny has changed it. the inner linner is bolted to hull using stainless bolt washers and lock nuts and glassed together. creates the 1 piece feel. in the 90s most were riveted together...poor manufacturing methods. Like hand laid woven in top of line boats vs chopper gun sprayed, no woven therefore stress cracks.

@@chasecole2198 I replaced my cockpit carpet with seadeck, and it was smooth gelcoat underneath the carpet. I wouldn't want seadeck on the front deck. Less cushion, less durable and louder. Only downside to carpet is the long dry time.

I have a 2015 Nitro- Seats cracked in year 2, I’ve had to make repairs to the trailer and fenders every year. The 2020-2022 Nitros look to have better quality seats and trailer. You hate Nitro, I get it. Any chance they’re getting nicer since acquiring Ranger and Triton??

"separation of hull and cap." Oh like my Skeeter that had to be completely reseated because only 1/3 of the screws were actually set? The other 2/3 were just pushing against the hull and it was barely sealed. Took it in because I was taking on a lot of water inexplicably and turns out it was coming in under the rub rail because the cap wasn't secured properly🤣

I have a 12 year old z7 I bought less than a year old. Been a great boat. Zero issues at all. The trailer has been a problem though. Both wheel bearing burned up so I replaced the entire axle with one I ordered from an axle company and no problems since. Only other issue has been the lights not wanting to stay in their slots. Keep popping out. I just ordered a 2022 z19 pro. Trailers are supposedly vastly better. We will see. I hear of all these nitro problems online but everyone I talk to an actual owner of one they never have anything bad to say about the boat itself. It’s almost like the ones saying they’re junk are the ones that have never owned one. Kinda weird.

Here I go again, owner of a 2021 Z19 PRO trailer brake actuator did stick and I seen the brake dust took it to Sherwood, AR to Bradford Marine fixed it in a timely manner of 1 week. All is Good. Boat has been on the Chesapeake Bay the Potomac, St.Lawrence river and on Ontario, Lake Fork, Arkansas River, Lake DeGray and Ouachita in Arkansas, Ohio River and lakes West Virginia lakes. Forgot to mention Old Hickory. Boat is very loaded out no shallow water anchors. My family runs and sales trailers and first thing we noticed was fender bolts and washers we pulled the bolts and put bigger spacers in and that is all the problem with trailer we could find. Has over 3,000 miles of towing no issues. Zero cracks on hull or cap. Speed fully loaded out 2 people 67 mph with 200 V-8 Mercury Runs the same as all my 19 foot Charger 195 Fox Fire and same speed. Ride is great for 19 foot above average. I paid out the door cover etc. Tax fees $49,749 all I added was 1022 Garmin Panoptic $2,200. By the way Bass Cats own Rick Pierce told they were number one selling boat and not a bad way to get back into fishing tournaments. I can't see going back to Charger Boats it seems Jim Doris has handed his son the reins and they are not trying to grow but asking top dollar for almost zero dealer support or net work. But that 195 was the best rough water boat period.

Here’s a question I have. Is it possible that nitros crack because they have people that don’t know how to drive a boat driving them? The price tag lends itself to new anglers and I’ve seen some new anglers do some damage to a boat in shallows or on the ramp. Just wondering if that plays some part in it. Just being around them you can tell they are not a solid as a skeeter or something like that.

All the issues you mentioned seem to be fairly minor . Because it should all be repairable. Other than stress cracks. I’m seeing quality issue on most brands so I’m not sure it really matters .

Love em Hate em, we are seeing more and more on the water. More and more people getting into the sport and breaking into tournament fishing. That says something. Many new boat owners, that make mistakes, dont want to bin a 100 thou dollar boat. I run a multi species Zv, and tbh, all of the ones we run are holding up just fine. Never seen any of the issues you speak of. Are multi species boats different? Hey how bout a case of pepsi if you start looking at the big water boats?? See if there is a difference?

I haven't had an issue with the Pre Z Series boats. I wouldn't own a new one, but I just bought a Savage 896. I love it. My old NX750 was a decent boat too. Johnny Morris couldn't pay me enough to own a new one.

Good video. Definitely not buying a white River brand. Another expensive brand has issues with the top separating too. I ran into 3 owners in 8 tournaments that had cap separation on one of the bird brands people have flocked to since Ranger went down the tubes.

Falcon price point is pretty close to Nitro, it’s an absolute beast of a boat and of course I’m on my second Suzuki because y’all talked me into these engines!! Best engine out there and the boat is phenomenal!!!!

Nitro is a entry level canned mass-market product. Ranger and Triton by default are becoming the same thing. Here it is click on the stuff you want, its yours, take it or leave it. Basscat, Blazer, Falcon, Phoenix etc, are basically custom rigs. With Custom, comes higher quality, more and better options, better service after the sale, very often some level of personal relationship either with the company or dealer network. Custom and customer service requires greater quality top to bottom which always comes at a higher cost. It is a completely different business model. It is what it is. Because of the difference in business model there will always be a huge gap between the 2 styles of company. Nitro will never compare to the other companies unless those co. also pursue the same business model. But, they will always cost less.

All of these boats are massively over priced for what you are getting. I bought my Nitro a used 1992 in 1996 for 5k. It looked brand new. Everything started to fall apart around 2019. Motor, carpet, seats, and trailer all started falling apart at the same time. I put new bearings and cut the rust out of the trailer. In the furtue I will use fluid film every year on my trailer frame. In my 92 evinrudes 27 years I had to replace a regulator rectifier that was it. The seats the wood rotted out. The carpet I think held pretty good at over 25 years. Now my boat was garage kept its whole life. I am going to be getting a new Nitro soon. My only dilemma is if I want a Z or a ZV.

You forgot to mention that they're the only boat still made out of wood and there all going to a thin gel coat that looks like there sprayed with a paint gun rangers are done the same way and triton
